No time to worry about polls. I still have to finally decide on my class.

I'm glad I'm not the only one twisting on this decision.

Sooo, they just posted a message on the French side of the Wildstar forums that translates to this:
We will list the servers tomorrow at 18 am (Paris time) :)

While this isn't confirmation that they'll be giving US server names too, it does look like they're aiming towards the 72 part of the 24-72 hour window. Good news for us pollers.

Is that a typo for 8 am or for 18:00 (aka 6 pm) @[email protected]

It's looking like two-factor auth will make it to launch. It'll use smartphones (for now).

Multiboxing is okay, but not if it uses third-party programs to have, say, one key press send commands to several accounts.

Raids reset at 3am Pacific globally, no set downtime for maintenance but the first month will likely be chaotic.

They literally just got asked this question on the stream, and the answer is that you don't need to reinstall.

If you are a closed/winter beta tester, a reinstall may improve your performance but it's not necessary.

Can anyone give a me a lowdown on good professions for a Dominion stalker? I read the profession FAQ from the Wildstar site and never really got to play around with professions in open beta. What is the lowdown on decent crafting professions? Do certain gathering skills suck much more than others?

    So, Spellslinger vs. Esper :

Both light armor, both heal\ranged dps. Esper is more stationary, which might give it huge problems in certain fights. Spellslinger has a more difficult(maybe?) to manage innate.

I guess i don't really see the difference between classes so its tough to choose between them. What are the other things to consider?

Concerning Espers and their limitations due to their stationary builder ability, is it that heretical to think about including the shorter range mobile builder in the same LAS as the stationary one?

I only ever got the time to try the magic slingers, which was fun but the aiming i felt it was a little annoying for me so perhaps I'll attempt something more melee-ish for the sake of getting up close and personal and not worry about aiming!

I used both in my early 20s beta Esper. I don't plan to play the class, but having both as an option was good for me.

You can pick two of these:

Weaponsmith - Makes weapons for all classes. Mainly needs mining. Very good for everyone!
Armorer - Makes heavy armor (engineer, warrior). Mainly needs mining.
Outfitter - Makes medium armor (medic, stalker). Mainly needs survivalist. Mostly needs leather, the woodcutting doesn't seem to factor in too much. Leather never drops. Tough to deal with.
Tailor - Makes light armor (spellslinger, esper). Doesn't need a gathering skill due to cloth dropping from everything. I've heard it can be easy to run out of cloth and getting more by farming mobs is no fun.
Technologist - Kind of a mix of an alchemist, enchanter and jewelcrafter. Utility things. Mostly needs Relic Hunter. Having good medshots on hand can be pretty useful, though their cooldown is pretty long.
Architect - Makes housing items. Mostly needs Survivalist for the wood but generally needs all 3 main gathering professions at various times. May be a moneymaker as housing will be popular, but lots of people will probably have the same idea...

Mining - Gets ore and gemstones from nodes. Pretty reasonable to farm in the right zones.
Survivalist - Gets leather and bone from certain mod kills and can chop trees for wood. Plenty of trees around, but leather drops are not tuned right at this point. You never have enough.
Relic Hunter - Gets omniplasm and other ancient tech parts from nodes. Again, fairly easy to farm.

Many crafting trades require multiple gathering skills. IIRC Technologist can also make use of Mining, Tailor can benefit from Survivalist, and all crafting trades can use relics from Relic Hunter. EDIT: This may be based on older info, I've read that they may have patched out the Relic Hunter requirement for most crafting.

For a Stalker I would suggest either Weaponsmith/Mining, Technologist/Relic Hunter, or possibly Relic Hunter/Survivalist as a moneymaker because at least for now, leather is going to be in high demand, and Relic Hunter has broad application.

I've heard a lot of negative things about Survivalist (too much wood, not enough leather) gathering, which is what you'd pair with Outfitter (medium armorcrafting). Still, if it levels fast enough that you don't have to grind it to avoid falling behind then it sounds basically like free money. I'm probably going to go dual gathering, or mining+weaponsmithing.

At this time I would say yes, probably. Everyone gets leather from animals to some extent but Survivalist increases the chance of drops (supposedly) and I've read there's the occasional carcass you can get some mats from (I don't remember coming across any in my stint as a Survivalist).

Be sure to add buttons to your bar to switch between the gathering tools with one click so you don't have to fiddle with inventory all the time.

Nope, its not a problem to do so. That the thing about LAS. What one person does, may not be the thing that jives with another person does. I'd like to assume that Carbine has made the end game fights flexible enough that you only require 1 or 2 abilities in your LAS and let you do what you want in the rest of your abilities.

At level 15 to 25, you have access to 7 action slots.

This is my core DPS skill choice.
1.TK blast. the dreaded stationary builder, its a 1.25 second cast, I have been able to find time to cast it in mobile fights
    2.My Finisher, the psychic bird
3.The psyblades. This is a two stack builder, instacast and gives me 1 psy point for each blade that hits an enemy after 4.4 seconds.
4.Crush. This is a knockdown and an interrupt armor stripper. T4 gives me 2 armor strips. This should never leave an esper's LAS.

That's my main attack line up. Shocking I know, but that has put me on top of the dps charts easily in very mobile situations. Because everyone else is moving to not die as well
The next two slots are variable, but I usually take:

5.Mind over Body. I like it, it's a good thing to have so I can take care of myself, or help the healer in a pinch. It's stationary, but its also a builder.
6.Phantasmal Armor. Again, I like it, good to be able to throw up an instant 2000 hp on someone.

    7. is a completely variable slot to me. I usually put Geist in there for the 15% armor reduction and a little passive dps, but I'm willing to slot it out for another ability like cleanse or fade if the fight really needs it.

People need to get out of the mindset that you are beholden to only those abilities. I can understand the concern, because AMPs mean that you tailor your fights to a certain style, but you get quite a few action sets when you hit 50 (at least 4 that I know of). and you can always retool the power of your abilities and their Tiers, willy nilly.

That means, without spending money to reAMP:

I can have my main DPS set up
    A healer set up
    A PvP set up
an alternate more mobile DPS set up if I choose, maybe, I dunno.

Your horizons broaden as you level up because the game wants you to understand what you can do within a limited scope before giving you more and more things to do and having you go into info and choice overload.

I liked Esper in the beta, and they kill things like nobody's business, but I've made the switch to Spellslinger for launch now mainly because Aurin can only be those two plus Stalker and I want to save Stalker and Esper for later build experimentation when I am more familiar with the game's nitty gritty stat min/maxing and higher level combat stuff with the telegraphs. PvP was especially trying as an Esper even after testing a few more mobile, healing oriented builds to help people out and keep myself alive, and I want to do a lot more PvP, especially now that between my new computer and the launch optimization my framerate should be a lot more smooth and stable during the really heated exchanges.

Spellslinger is more mobile and still has lots of cool aesthetics, abilities, the chance to heal, lots of utility, and they looked really good in PvP. I will use it as a entry to the game's deep combat and revisit Esper later when I am more aware of how the game works on other classes/how they compare, etc.

My biggest peeve with Engineer (which is what I had originally wanted to roll) was the bots are super buggy to command. If they fix that I may go engy again. But having my bruiser bot just kind of sit there after i told him repeatedly to attack the thing that is eating my face got super annoying quick. Also, that their abilities take up one of your LAS slots was too much of a negative.
