Tales of Hearts R will retain the Japanese voice work, which actually may be a bit weird to some people because they're changing the protagonist's name for some reason. But let's not dwell, at least now we know that friends in Europe will also be getting the game this winter.

Overall, yes. The only real criticism of it I've seen seems to stem more from how the game is 3D instead of the DS original's 2D and thus it's different and the combat is all wrong and pales in comparison and yada yada yada. Other than that, I have heard nothing but good things, and I always liked the look of 3D Tales so I'm totally on board with that. The game's combat is also apparently a good deal more complicated than the simpler flow of recent games like Graces f and Xillia.

Japanese audio only, unless for some reason there will be English voices in NA but not EU, based on this tweet:
Sigh. Alright. I feel weird, not preferring Japanese voices in games, but I just don't and it's getting a little tiring.
I prefer English VA work (though I do also like having a JP track to see if there's still lines I can pick up on my own), so I understand, but I think all told we've had a pretty good run of games lately with English VA. The only exceptions really coming to mind that I've played recently are Monster Monpiece and Sorcery Saga...? Can't recall much else off the top of my head that was JP-only.

Toukiden is Japanese only if I recall correctly. Project Diva f is also Japanese only, though for more obvious reasons than others.
The Vita is probably the most Japanese console ever released at this point, I'm finding(not that I'm complaining). May as well toss another one in.

Let me tell you about a little company called Tecmo KOEI...
I enjoy Japanese dubs with English subs if the 1) we are not going to get an English dub ever, 2) the game is uniquely Japanese and adds to the flavor of the setting (see: Muramasa), or 3) the Japanese voices are better than an English dub. Or some combination of those three.
Otherwise, I do prefer having voice work done in my own language, especially if it's well done, and sometimes even when the setting is Japan (see: Persona 4 Golden).

Yeah don't get me wrong, Vita is hella Japanese and I love it, my point was more just that there has been a good run of stuff I wouldn't necessarily expect anyone to have bothered with a dub that have gotten surprisingly good English VA jobs. We're not in a drought for English voiced games either.

Dynasty Warriors 8 got a dub.
It did, yes. So did Xtreme Legends, since I'm being fair.
But, I mean, there has been a -shitload- of other games, and even upcoming ones like the new Dynasty Warriors Gundam that are JP-only.

Maybe they just couldn't find an English VA who could yell out Shining Finger proudly enough.

So I left it in the rice overnight. Now it's stuck slightly forward. What are the repair options? I received this for free from my friend and I'm overseas. Should I just send it to Sony and get it repaired?
Sigh. Alright. I feel weird, not preferring Japanese voices in games, but I just don't and it's getting a little tiring.
I don't really see the big deal. If you don't want to hear moon language in the game, just turn it off in the audio settings (assuming there are them). How many modern JRPGs even dub the entire script nowadays anyway? I seem to recall P4G only dubbing important dialogue.

Granted, P4G had an insane amount of dialog to begin with, and a pretty significant percentage of that was dubbed.

I decided to try the other story in Muramasa to see what the difference was. I didn't notice much different about his controls - he seems a lot like a reskin of Momohime with a couple of different moves. Is that a reasonable assessment?
Anyway, I figured I'd play through to the first save point and save it there and holy shit the art in this game. I'm certain I drooled at one point. This game is so, so pretty to just watch.
Also, that Momohime figure a few pages back, where is that from? I'm after that and the Elf from Dragons Crown, but can't find anywhere from the US to order from, and the Japanese sites have all be moon language to me.

Kisuke's swords for the most part have different Ougis. There's a few common ones, but a good portion of them are different which will of course alter how you play the characters in general since it's the ougis which make the most impact in combat. Kisuke also has a slightly higher availability of the long swords compared to the standard swords early in the game which again will impact how you move and attack unless you're of the mindset that attack power doesn't matter, move set does. Momohime has harder bosses as well IMHO because they tended to use more instant sword breaking attacks. Kisuke had a few bosses that are combo pinatas but some of those story levels are royal PITAs.
Getting the Momohime figurine may be a little difficult. Those things generally have a limited print run and from memory, it already had a re-run last year. eBay might be your best bet to be honest as my usual sources are sold out, and rightfully so. Failing that, Yahoo Japan's auction site and keep a close eye on the second-hand quality gradings (S to A is ok. B and below only if you're desperate). I found that if you want to collect that sort of stuff, you have to lurk around the outlets and snap them up in the pre-order phase.

Quickly checking ebay puts the Momohime figure at about $250au. While nice, there's other things I would put that money into more readily. I'll stick to admiring the game.
Yeap. The mark up on the resale market is the reason why my MO for collecting figurines is 'Pre-order or don't hold your breath'. If something slips under my radar, all I can do is furiously hope that it isn't sold out. I think I've only gotten one figurine off eBay and that was for something that isn't that popular
Oh and if it makes you feel any better, a particular Alter brand Fate Testarossa figurine was going for like $300 on eBay pretty much like a week after it was released. That thing sold out in pre-orders.

Finally taking a crack at the Muramasa DLC.
Either I took too long and my skills have atrophied, or Okoi is waaay less powerful than either Momo or Kisuke. I'd beaten the game on Fury mode, one hit kills, but I'm struggling on Chaos (Hard) now. It's nice to master a game, then have the DLC kick your ass. See also; Jetstream Sam in MGR:R.
Dang there's a lot of work in here for a £5 DLC. Okoi is not some palette swap, she is a whole new character that plays in a whole new way, more so than Momo vs Kisuke. I'm pretty sure when I'm done with the storyline I'll have access to the entire map and bosses of the base game too. So I'll be able to take this new character against the bosses I've beaten before, but have to do it in an entirely different way. That's more gameplay value than in the full game. Hope the other DLC lives up to this one.
Oh it does... If you think Okoi is underpowered.... you're in for a rude shock (hint: The intro battle can seriously kick your ass on Chaos)
I also think that the game kind of expects you to explore a fair bit before the boss fights. The first boss fight outside the into on Okoi is like a 10 minute affair and goes through 6 forms. I spent like 2 hours at level 8 trying to beat it, then gave up and gained some levels/money for items and retried at level 13 and won.
Sigh. Alright. I feel weird, not preferring Japanese voices in games, but I just don't and it's getting a little tiring.

A pressing concern.
It is so chibi right up next to my PS4, let me tell you. Now I need to start checking it every couple weeks to see when they add NA account logins.
