scrolling problem with my mouse

I've had an issue with my mouse wheel for a while now and it's finally irritated me enough to consider replacing it.

The reason I haven't yet is because it's a corsair vengeance M60, it was not a cheap mouse and other than the wonky mouse wheel i like it a lot.

The problem is scrolling down using the wheel causes it to shoot to the bottom of the page, and scrolling up causes the page to judder as it rapidly switches between going up and down usually achieving neither, it is extremely frustrating. It's also a problem in games where the mouse wheel selects weapons, I have to disable the mouse wheel or else i'll find myself randomly scrolling through weapons.

In terms of build the wheel does not feel like it's come lose or anything at all, it's as solid and smooth as the day I bought it. I've had it for quite some time now so returning it isn't an option, not that I could find the receipts even if it was. So either there's an easy fix for this or I'm buying a new mouse.

might have some gunk or something on the contact

i dunno how easy it would be to open up and clean on your particular model

    Allegedly a voice of reason.

Looks like it's a common problem?

Looks like it might just be a matter of RMAing the mouse to Corsair or, if that doesn't fix it, changing to a new mouse.

it looks like this just became the "suggest a decent gaming mouse" thread

Yes some light googling turns up several threads about scroll wheel issues, in many ways it sounds like logitechs old double click issue that essentially meant you were going to be replacing the mouse.

The mouse should still have a serial number on it somewhere. I'd suggest you contact the manufacturer first before you drop money on a replacement.
Only thing it's going to cost is a bit of your time.

i have no idea what the warranty period is on this mouse

i don't even know roughly how long i've had it

It's worth trying even if you know that the warranty has expired.

Particularly if this is a known issue that's been widely reported. If you're not a goose to the person you're in contact with, chances are pretty good that they'll try to work with you.
