This is weird. It's not different enough to be a remix and I can't even tell if it's a different performance of the same piece, or if they just fucked around with the levels.

I'd really like to go back to FFXIV at some point to try out all the new stuff since ARR, but there's like 30 buttons in the bottom right of that persons screen and I assume you need to be pressing all of them and that's where I check out.
Stumbled across an explanation of the sound options available to NES composers, which I'd been reading about on and off lately and are rather more constrained than I thought they were at first. It makes me respect the work people did on that console more than I already have.
It walks you through the individual channels, what's available to each one, and then drops a couple examples of everything coming together so you can catch everything at once.
Not a track in and of itself, obviously, but it's probably relevant to folks' interests and I don't think I've seen it in the thread yet:

I really like the main theme of Fallout 4. Yeah, it changes the tonal thrust of the series' theme, but y'know what? It's for the better. There's more hope in this iteration of the theme song, and frankly I'm sick of the doom and gloom. I get enough of that shit from reality. When I escape, I wanna escape to someplace better, not someplace worse. I'll always like the menacing tone of the previous iterations of the theme but right now this one jives with me more.
As an aside, looking up music for this game makes me sad because when people think "Fallout music" they immediately fluff up the stuff you can hear on the radio stations. That's nice, but some folks took the time to actually craft in-game music and it's pretty good too. It needs appreciating.

this post gave me the urge to buy Ys 1+2 on steam, which is nice because it's only 5 bucks right now due to the steam sale.
Seriously love this soundtrack.

Good lord that cover art, North America.
I swear when I played the game on the Sega Channel, the opening stage music was different. Anyway best comment on that video:

Also is it me or is there an Irish / Celtic thing going on with the soundtrack in some parts?

Considering the location for the game, weaving Irish/Celtic theming and instrumentation feels kinda appropriate?
