@Tigliss @DaMoonRulz @Nips We're gonna do the thing where nobody's playing anything hyper-controversial like where "my character has Dark Secret + In for Life + Alternate Identity because I'm secretly a Word of Blake ROM agent" or some bullshit, right?

I was expecting everyone to be a Hans clone or Morgan Kell's older cooler brother. Hard edge might just be countered with taetete.

Hyper RPG must have changed the rules a bit for their Valiant: Vanquished game. It also used the Cue System and they treated plot points as GM Power for a secondar

It's also possible CGL tweaked the rules for MW:D, so as to make it a bit more gritty. I know they've used their Cue system now in at least two other properties (Valiant, Shadowrun: Anarchy), so it stands to reason they'd massage it a bit to fit the genre they're going for.

Alright, backing up the conversation a bit. I saw someone on the official forums mention the "spend a plot point to bypass a test" concept, and I'm just not seeing this in the Rules As Written. Can anyone help me figure this out? As best I can tell, the section on Plot Points leads off with them being "only limited by how creative they [the players] want to be", and the section also lists all those things I mentioned upthread as "examples". Can anyone help me nail this down? Is it further into the rules? I haven't gotten past the Tests part yet in my read through.

[Edit] I'm continuing on with my read through, and decided to barrel through character creation. Not terrible, pretty straight-forward. I just went ahead and made my far-future Oosiks alter-ego.

Patience, friend poet! It's coming! We're getting a new sculpt from the Kickstarter, so new key art is only a matter of time.

In (somewhat) mech related news, megabots, after being relegated to occasional shows where they crush cars and appliances due to a lack of opponents, had finally called in quits and put Eagle Prime up on eBay. As of this post it’s up to $70K

    Fuuuuuck. Want, want, want!

And that Vulture is chooonky. I'm a little worried that the detail of the missile tubes closest to the center torso might get muddled, though; they look really tight to the inside corner where the side torso meets the center, and that could be problematic for the injection molding.

And those Urbies are so fecking cute!

I’m eagerly awaiting the renders for the new version of the Stone Rhino. The rest are easy to guess at based on the design aesthetic, but the Stone Rhino was in a weird place because the original was wrong and while the reseen versions were more “correct” they didn’t have the charm.

I hope it's fundamentally similar to the Unseen art: broad, low-slung, slightly curvy, with some very prominent Big Guns.

I'm not 100% certain how I feel about the Legendaries there. The Dire Wolf has a different loadout which I love! The Archer and Marauder look like a sliiiight torso twist with sliightly more exaggerated arm positions

Is there any change to the Timber Wolf? I'll admit I'm not the most observant of nerds, but it looks identical to me.
I'm guessing it's going to get a unique load out like the Dire Wolf and just hasn't been modeled yet.

If it's anything like the older Pryde Timberwolf it'll have jump jet pods where the arms normally meet the center torso.

EDIT: Looking at the early render I think they moved the jets elsewhere. That'll probably be the main diff though.

They're only 5 tons apart. I've seen both prototypes in person; the MAD is a nice size, and the ARC has been up-chunked from it's old Unseen sculpts to make sense. The old Unseen sculpt is wildly undersized.

I think my honest thoughts about the MW:Destiny stuff is ... I preferred the older system where you had to choose "priorities" for each category and that got you up to so much in that category and, yeah. I think that was better. Or at least, it made MW feel more unique by doing something that I'm not sure any other games were doing (WoD? Sort of? Not really but kinda in a way).

I think I'd rather they go back to that system.

Was the ATOW, or an earlier version of Mechwarrior? Because if it's ATOW, the dev's have repeatedly said on the official boards that support will continue for the older system.

I get why they chose the Cue system for this, being an existing in-house system, and maybe it'll work fine once I see it in play. That said, I'm still having trouble grokking it (I had similar problems with FATE, which I love), but I'm willing to give it a chance because I really want a lightweight RP system I can attach to my BT games.

This was like ooooold. Second edition I wanna say. Like back before Battletech 4th edition came out.

Basically the first thing you did at character creation was "prioritize" five categories:
    sb0h2zd7dvv1.png

Apparently it was criticized for making it too easy to make starting characters that were really good, but that's just a tweak to fix.

*dumps entire painting table into the ocean*

Legit question, @McGibs: how long have you been painting? I only seriously started painting like five years ago, and I feel like I've gotten better, AND THEN I see stuff like yours and legitimately wonder wtf I'm doing over here.

Call me a Tabletop Quality Scrub 4 Life, I suppose.

Amazing Wolvie, btw. Those panel highlights against the shade in the creases really pops, and those color choices are sublime.

I think I got my first warhammer kit back in 2009? I've been noodling with military model kits since I was a kid through.
I just recently got into enamel/oil washes though, and I think that did wonders for this one. I'm using Taimya Panel Wash, which is like magic for model with lots of little... panel lines.
Basecolour model, glosscoat model, apply panel line, and then go back over with white-spirits and scrub off all the exess wash. Let's you get a really crisp wash without having to go back over and correct/recolour all your overpainting.

Mechs have got to be one of the hardest things to paint. All those broad, flat surfaces. Painting character models honestly seems easier because the shading and shapes seem to make it easier.

What is this I don't even.
