To the entirety of your post Wyborn, I say Why not?
I posit this question: Why is it okay for a woman to dress however she wants, but that same right isn't granted to artists designing female characters?
Yeah I finally got a chance to watch this, it's a pretty interesting discussion.
One thought I had is that it sounds like Shia will be corrupted by Demise. I wonder if maybe she'll end up being Ganondorf's mother or something?
They also mentioned what I said in the last thread (but sort of dismissed it), that her name is similar to Sheikah (specifically the japanese spelling - SHÎKÂ which is literally one letter off). It kind of makes sense that maybe she was part of the Sheikah if she was in charge of the Triforce. I do think comparing her design to Meg from OoT is a bit of a stretch though. I suppose there is some resemblance, but her mask reminds me much more of Helmaroc King from Wind Waker.
I guess in some interview they said there would be unexpected playable characters
If they put in gannondorf with a sword that he can't use i'll die
Some of the Gamexplain videos have mentioned most Warriors games allow you to play the villains in "what if" type scenarios. So I mean, if they are going to add "what if" storylines, they could technically pull in just about anything, even from other games/timelines (i.e. the Ocarina of Time sages, various popular Zelda bosses like Twinrova, etc)
So one of those environmental art pieces definitely shows Skyloft.
I have to wonder: is it falling, or rising?
Based on the condition of the ground under it I would say it's falling, but one cannot know for sure
Huh? Which one? I don't see any that look like Skyloft...
Edit: Oh, this one:
Odd, I hadn't seen that before....
It's art though - I wonder if it's like a "this is the backstory of this game" thing, or if the game actually does take place BEFORE Skyward Sword. Which doesn't seem to make sense, except for this connection that Gamexplain actually found: http://zeldawiki.org/Hylia's_Chosen_Hero
In that manga, Link looks almost *exactly* like he does in Hyrule Warriors. But the plot doesn't really work with what we know about Hyrule Warrior's plot - most notably that Zelda flat out did not exist until Skyward Sword. So how could she have been kidnapped here?
I think it does take place after Skyward Sword, but probably happens very close to the ending of that game, so it makes sense to reference events of it (and maybe even events preceding it, like that manga)
I would be very amused if a woman designed Shia's character, but I doubt that was the case.
Isn't that what happened with Bayonetta?
Completely different situation. Bayonetta's design was very core to her character. I very seriously doubt this character's design of TITS will be at all important in any way to her character.
I've gone into a degree of detail as to why I think that the design is erroneous: it is sexualized to a degree that has no real precedence in the Zelda series, as produced by Nintendo. It is visually incongruent with the rest of the designs seen in the game so far, aesthetically speaking.
*snip*
Aaaah why can't I both agree and awesome this post?
I have almost no interest in Hyrule Warriors but I can tell it looks like a fun game. Never played any of the dynasty games, so I have no idea what it'd actually play like though.
They're a shit load of fun. And they're good games, especially the recent entries. Lots of unique characters without being clones. Alternate-history what-if versions of the historical stories if you save your generals from dying when they're supposed to. Then the Orochi games mix Dysasty and Samurai characters together, include all kinds of crazy Gods, Western cameos (Jenne D'Arc) and awesome guest characters from other video games into the plot.
The licensed stuff has been a mixed bag though. The One Piece games? Pretty good. The Fist of the North Star game? Not so much.
is, I'm guessing, from the game's intro and shows probably a previous Link and Zelda (in her classic, non-Skyward Sword design).
Yeah, so far this game seems really hard to reconcile with the official timeline. If it does turn out to be a spin-off game and non-canon, I hope they go all out and let you play as characters from multiple games.

I'm thinking of which literary trope to reference here. A "Crisis on Infinite Earths" alternate realities type of deal? Or maybe just straight up super time travel shenanigans. Either way, a threat to all time and space so large, it requires the combined force of every Link that's ever existed to stop it.
It's every timeline and no timeline, since obviously nobody will remember any of it when the day is won. Problem solved, and we get a potential epic game out of it.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
I think that gal's design could become better in our eyes if:
1. She starts the game wearing something else before turning evil. I doubt it but she really ought to. More games need costume changes to suit the act.
2. Her personality really suits it.
Whats the word on Zelda getting kidnapped? I'd love to play as her for a change.

Shia, The Black Witch
An evil witch, who had her good soul chased out of her by dark forces. She has a strong sense of self, clearly states her desires, and a provocative and aggressive personality. She wants to make the whole world hers, but especially she wants to make Link hers.

Link would win any theoretical fashion contest anyway since he has a lot of fans in the gay community.

She's not quite looking like a Gerudo. Not to, uh, not to be fantasy racist or nothing.
Speaking of, I hope we see some Gerudo in this, they were always cool.

In the last thread I stated that Impa's weapon is called "fat sword". That is, unfortunately, not correct.
太 does mean fat and 刀 does mean sword, but taken together they usually mean "longsword".
@vagrant_winds Nooooo... I loved Fist of the North Star!
Lame.
Do you not see the connected island with the goddess statue? :P
But... the end of Skyward Sword.
Going to assume this is NOT Zelda cannon for now.
sword. Yeah. Can't be reconciled to canon.

I think it (the image) is either retelling the beginning or the ending of Skyward Sword, like in a story sequence at the start of the game.

More screenshots, less boobs more Impa goodness. Some multi-sword special attack going on with her. It looks like the witch's localized name is "Cia."
Description also says you can collect rupees to upgrade weapons and craft badges for ability boosts.
Impa's attack I'm talking about:
RE: #2:
Yeah it'll be a nice change of pace to play as someone else.
Did you expect anything else?
Dynasty Warriors.
Samurai Warriors.
Warriors Orochi.
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors.

Have Link sleep through the whole thing and wake up at the end going, "What?".
