in RepCon facility, trying to help the ghouls and deal with the super mutants
I figured, I'd be clever and clear out the super mutants so I can find Harlands girlfriend, so I pop a stealth boy and sneak, remaining hidden the entire way, up the stairs to the terminal to get the shipping manifest, bring it back to Antler and Davidson and get the Nightkin to bug out. Go find Harlands girlfriend in the jail, then come back to tell him and he's hostile.
Even though I was both sneaking and stealthboy'd, he apparently magically knew I accessed the terminal, the most grievous of crimes, and decided to shoot me. Well, he tried to shoot me, but Boone popped his head like an overripe zit.

I just shot him. Ideally, I wanted to do the same thing. The girls for the stealthboys. But nope, not possible. I then balanced killing several super mutants for his GF, or one ghoul. Well, the math meant Harland dies.

Eh, I managed to find a stealthboy path through the tunnels to find the girlfriend without the supermutants magically sensing me, so everyone left alive in the end..Just pisses me off that Harland magically knew I access the Sacred Terminal of Esphoria even though I was hidden status and stealth boy'd [/spoiler[

It can be funny to let those situations play out though. One time in Fallout 2, I "accidentally" massacred the entire Den. You see, a junkie can sometimes go hostile if you walk to close to one, and sometimes triggering that combat mode causes other nearby NPCs to go hostile too...
Well, one thing lead to another, and pretty soon everyone in the Den was dead, all because some junkie threw a punch at me!
One could say it escalated quickly, that it really got out of hand. :P That's not even mentioning the famous Gangster/Prostitute wars that can happen, EASILY, in New Reno.
One things I always found funny was how small the city of New Vegas actually is. I guess if you count Freeside as a part of it it becomes a lot larger, but Vegas it's self is tiny. Also, I never got why they needed the gates there to load new parts of Vegas. Why not just one continuous strip?

Hopefully it's been long enough that FO4 will be next gen only, not a cross gen title
Yeah but FO4 is going to be Bethesda again, sooo blah on that.

One thing I hope Gamebryo 2.0 can do in Mad Max and beyond...
Being able to alter things in my "grip" without a mod. I wanna decorate my houses in Fallout and Skyrim but it's like I'm a drunk walrus and I can't freakin rotate or turn an item around since I have no fingers and just nubs.
And why is shit so top heavy anyway? A kettle should probably have all it's weight on the bottom, not the top... Anyway just nitpicking.
I've picked up New Vegas again from where I left off years ago (40 hours in, inside Old World Blues), and have since doubled my play time. I actually made it into the Strip now!
One thing that slowly became obvious to me is that the writers and the recording staff must have had zero communication with one another. I get the idea that it was a series of marathon booth sessions, with just one take of everything because there's just so much... but there are plenty of mispronunciations, poor reads from lack of context, and just all-around irritating mistakes that would have been solved if there had been just one more person outside the booth to say "Wait, try saying it this way."
The impetus to write this post is "Mean Sonofabitch" over in Westside, a Super Mutant who had his tongue cut out. His speech is all written out in the phonetics of somebody who doesn't have a tongue, but nobody bothered to tell the actor what the hell he was actually supposed to be trying to say. He can't even pronounce his own name; it ought to be something like "Me Suhmuhbih" but it's written (and spoken) as "Mahsohfabish". His written line for his home, Westside, is written as "Wesibe" and spoken as "Wes see bay."
Since the actors are by and large West Coast people, and Bethesda's off in Maryland, I gather that there wasn't anybody involved with the project actually present during recording, and seeing all these little flubs pile up is really irritating.
Okay, that's off my chest. Back to discussion!

I'd rather have 10,000 Wes see bay's than all the characters who suddenly and mysteriously change voices depending no the topic of conversation.

I've never played with game modding (or the various managers) but I am comfortable with them computer whosits. Is the NMM worthwhile or should I be using a different manager? Just manually install?
Right now I'm only looking at the underground hideout, Lucky 38 map marker, and more radio. Are there any "must-haves" that I should be looking at?
Edit: Too many edits. Looking for New Vegas modding tips
Using NMM for New Vegas is perfectly fine. It's much better than manually installing.
However, be aware that a small number of mods are not packaged to work with it (they have the wrong directory structure in the archive package). I think this is because when New Vegas was first being modded Fallout Mod Manager was standard, not NMM. So if you install something and it doesn't work or have any effect, that could be why. It is relatively easy to fix it however, and the majority of mods work fine with NMM.
Easy mod recommendations:
Nevada Skies (w/ brighter nights option if you prefer)
Interior Lighting Overhaul
EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements
Enhanced Blood Textures
Electro-city
Vurts Wasteland Flora Overhaul ("dead" version)
Immersive HUD
Slightly-more-complicated mods (require New Vegas script extender and compatibility patches):
Project Nevada
Mission Mojave

Can anyone with experience with the NMM explain to me why it's saying my mods are installed, but none of them are showing up in game?
edit: nevermind. Apparently I had to activate the plugins too.

Wondering if anyone can help me. I've installed the MCM and project nevada. I then tried to install the Darnified UI, and that's where I screwed stuff up. I thought I got rid of it and restored the ini file, but now I get this when I go into vats.
The text is black and hard to read and I can't even see the %s now.
I also noticed the text overlapping here.

I was getting all kinds of errors with pn and darnified together. Darnified was a manual install but I used the nmm for pn. I think it was the fallout default.ini?

At this point I'd rather just get the old ui working fully again. I even thought about trying another ui mod just so I can see vats again. Seems like a lot of ui mods don't work we'll with pn though.

Because you are launching with NVSE you need to modify fallout.ini in My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV
Modifying fallout_default.ini is for when you are launching the game normally because the default launcher overwrites fallout.ini with the content of fallout_default.ini at launch. What actually matters to the game is fallout.ini in My Docs though.
That may be why you were getting errors with DUI initially. I recommend against manual installs (as it can be especially tricky to uninstall later). If you want a better UI, you can get MTUI from the Nexus. It should work fine with NMM.

Are the two inis the same? Can I paste one to the other to try and fix the problem?
Yes they are the same so you can copy one to the other. The one that actually affects the game is the one in My Docs though, especially when launching with NVSE.

Oh, here's the fallout thread. I was still bookmarked to the old thread and thought nobody was talking about the Fall Outs and more.
I caught up on reading the whole thread and was pretty excited to try out the Tale of Two Wastelands mod and play through the entire thing, but it would seem that the mod requires all the dlc for both games. I have it for NV but never got Point Lookout and Mothership for Fallout 3.
Well, maybe I'll get around to it after the next big sale.
Point Lookout is a must. You are missing out on some great content there. Shame on you.
Wise choice avoiding MZ. It's like Anchorage but worse. Here's a terrible combat focused DLC in a straight line with no exploration. The only good part of it is some of the loot, but it means you basically spent $15 on a samurai suit and a cowboy outfit...
New Vegas Redesigned 3 is out and claims to require a new game to work right but I'll be cursed and damned if I'm doing that. Seems to be functioning fine on my level 31 char.

If it doesn't seem to be working then uninstall/reinstall MTUI and tell it to overwrite. Should be easy to do that with NMM.
