So... both Payday 2 and State of Decay are easily worth the price. Thanks @Pixelated Pixie for the review that kept me going after first getting ripped in half.
Well, 90 minutes into State of Decay and I'm really, really loving the potential here. Whoever linked a page ago to their recommendation, thanks for pushing me over the edge

Bought State of Decay: Breakdown with the money I got from the Transistor foils I sold, and yeah it's pretty fun still.
One thing that was probably mentioned but should be reiterated just for anyone who played the game previously but hasn't for a little while. They patched in the ability to store items, including resource packs, in the trunks of vehicles.
That one single change has made the game infinitely better.
That is a fantastic change. Many's the time I gazed longingly at the empty bed of a pickup and wished I could take all these construction supplies back to base.

Is this for the base game roo?
Yes, for base and Breakdown. It's a wonderful change that should have quite an impact on the ability to range farther afield (load up a truck with ammo and snacks and head off and come back when it's full of rucksacks!)... Just uh, be careful about mowing down hordes with all your precious cargo in the back... would be a bummer to blow up the vehicle.

I've got a very hectic week ahead of me and it's time to start loading up the moving container in my driveway, so I've been focusing on pick-up-and-play games. Or rather, a single game: LUFTRAUSERS. The game is probably old news by now, but still worth mentioning. A single play session tends to last under a minute for me, with a few lucky moments where I can live long enough to achieve the objectives I'm given based on my chosen weapons/body type/propulsion system.

But that takes work. Also it then saves your entire quote to my draft box so I need to make another post to overwrite it otherwise it'll keep popping up every time I enter the thread.
Cursed Crusade at Amazon for 2 bucks. Comes with a Steam key even though it is not mentioned. Game is by all accounts not good but it is also one that has never really had a decent sale so thought I'd post it for the collectors / genre hardcore fans.
Did I miss out on the conversation about how XCOM feels really unfair?
It's why I've never gotten super deep into it. The idea of your troops dying and being replaced by weaker scrubs which makes a tough game tougher, losing support from countries which makes the tough game tougher, THAT MECHANIC that has been mentioned that makes the game tougher...I don't feel like it's a game one can bumble through, like I had hoped. And I don't feel like restarting constantly to "play it right".
For anyone playing Payday 2 you can feel free to add me on Steam (My account is linked in my signature). Don't have tons of time to play, but a friend and myself have picked up the DLC and dove back into it.
Currently specced as a combat medic with an anti-material rifle. Decided to ditch stealth since their update to it made it much harder, but not particularly less janky.
I too love state of decay. It's probably the only open world sandboxy game I can see myself sticking around in to see what happens. Need to grab the dlc at some point.
I'm not 100 percent sure what State of Decay is. I know it's spoken well of, it's currently cheap, and it's got zombies in it. But is it basically a jaunt through the crushing post zombie apocalypse that is well worn throughout pop culture? Management of scarce resources, offing infected loved ones, etc?
And then I loaded up my State of Decay Breakdown save from yesterday and every single car I had in my safe house's parking lot vanished. This was every single car in my section of the map, so now I can't get around anywhere without running for about 20 minutes. No point in playing this savegame anymore, I guess I should just start a new one.
GG Undead Labs.
+2

I'm sure State of Decay will have another deal this year. I've held off on it for a lot of reasons, but I may finally make the jump next sale when I should be settled in at my new location.
If you enjoy shmups at all, in any capacity you must buy and play Astebreed. Everything great about Ether Vapor Remaster is here and turned up to eleven. Everything is easier to read this time around, weapon mechanics are even tighter and just plain more fun. There's all kinds of great stuff to ease you into the game. A prologue level that works as an in game tutorial, a Gallery that functions as an interactive weapons and systems guide, and three smoothly scaling difficulty levels. There are also two alternate characters to unlock and some fantastic score analysis and leaderboards.
The biggest improvement over Ether Vapor Remaster though is the camera. The transitions between the chase sequences and the vertical and horizontal sequences are seamless and totally awesome. Combine that with it's completely modern high resolution full screen presentation and the experience is pretty breathtaking for shmup fans. If you though Sine Mora was pretty and dynamic you have to check this one out. Also big pluses for it's 80s/90s giant mecha robot space opera super anime story. It's pitch perfect. It's also completely skippable if that's not your thing.
Hmmm.
Hmmmmmm.
It looks pretty swanky. On the other hand, I wasn't the biggest fan of Ether Vapor. I can be a bit of a grognard when it comes to my shmupping...
Does Air Control still have that probably illegally obtained DJ Proleter track, April Showers, in it? It was in the Giant Bomb UPF segment they did on the game.

I also bought State of Decay + Breakdown for myself; feels like a good 5am game.

I found this video with two play sessions which sums the game up pretty well:

Huh, didn't expect that this would be the daily deal after I posted about it!
Well, anyone who thinks this sounds interesting should give it a shot. $5.99 is a fine price for it.

Welp. That's a bummer.
