Definitely was not thinking about booking my hotel yesterday and now I'm really regretting it... Does OnPeak ever have waiting lists for hotels in case people cancel?

I think so, but in my experience I've only been able to get single bed reservations at some of the less popular hotels when trying to do it late.

Damn... I just want a single bed at the Grand Hyatt.. ;_;
Anyone book two rooms on one account? I booked a stay at the westin and the olive 8 and only the olive 8 reservation is showing up. Also received a duplicate of the olive 8 reservation when I booked the westin room.
update on this, I called onpeak and they told me I was sol since this new system only allows 1 to 1 hotel reservations. Which in explained terms means only one hotel reservation can be linked to a name so if booking multiple rooms use unique names each time.

No they do not do waiting lists.
Dang.. I looked and it looks like they update frequently (while they can), so maybe I'll get lucky and someone will cancel before OnPeak hands everything back over to the hotel.. wishful thinking...
Zerzhul, is it against forum policy to offer reservation transfers in the thread? I saw one person do it earlier, and I may have to, but I didn't want to hijack the thread.

Strange we got 3 rooms under one name but it was at one hotel....
I know a friend who usually gets good rates through his company so I had him check up on it for me and he just replied to me letting me know his company has no good discounts at that time for Seattle. Unfortunately now all the pax official hotels are booked, so I have to check third party sites for the other hotels like Best Western, Holiday, Mariott etc. Anyone have experience with these hotels and which are nice/not so good for their double occupant rates? Most are single bed Queen it looks like but some do offer king or two fulls at $10 more.
The best western on the bay is the cheapest and I have heard decent things about that one.

As long as it's for free, here, it's fine. Don't do it via the room share thread.

Just pop in a couple times a day to the booking site. As people room share, others will drop their reservation. Our first year at East I was able to snag the Westin just a few weeks before PAX when some drop it.

Okay I'll probably do that. Thanks!
I almost booked at the Westin, but not really psyched about walking 6 blocks late at night..

This is riskier, but I've found that the 1-2 weeks before the show are good times to check onPeak too: as more attendees start to form room shares, some of the then extraneous bookings become cancelled and available for purchase again.
I've switched hotels this way before (I really like the Hyatt at Olive 8, always my go-to).

Yeah I'm really hoping for either the Grand Hyatt or the Olive 8.. I'll just have to check frequently... Oh god I'm having bad flashbacks of all the time I've spent F5ing for the past few weeks haha.

This is our second year at the Westin (3rd Prime). LOVE. It's the perfect distance between Pikes Market for breakfast and the different hotels where PAX stuff is happening. It a super short and easy walk.

How is the walk at night? We usually stay out pretty late during conventions..

We have not had an issue. Everything is well lit and there are always a ton of people around cause well it's the weekend and it's PAX.

Haha well now the Westin is full too... Time to play the waiting game.
Husband and I stayed there one year and liked it pretty well! It was a bit further away than we really wanted, but I know it's still quite close in the scheme of things. Easily the best part of the stay there was when we had valet bring our car around at checkout, they'd left delicious chocolate chip cookies and cold milk in the car for the drive home.
SURPRISE COOKIES??? Well I'm sold!
What's in the area around it? The restaurant in the hotel sounds pricy so we'll have to mostly eat elsewhere.
I got a room at the Red Lion (double occupancy 2 bed) how is that as a Hotel? I am still looking for the same set up at the Sheraton if it ever opens up
Oh my goodness
Oh my Dayum

There's a Benihana across the street, which can be fun, but yeah, there aren't many places to grab a quick bite right there by the hotel—it's mostly (upscale) retail and offices, hotels, etc. We just ate all our meals over by the convention center, which worked out fine.
PAX Prime attendee: '08, '09, '10, '11, '12, '13, '14, '15, and soon to be '16
welp... This year I booked the Red Lion. Only thing I could grab in that short time with two beds. I've heard good things about that hotel, at least, hopefully, probably. I know it sure looked nice when I was there for a panel last year.

A few of them will update their post as a heads up/opportunity for another PA forum member to snag their onPeak booking (but definitely exercise any due caution in such an exchange, I haven't done this myself).

Darn. I need to spend some time researching all the food places around the CC. Just wandering around and hoping to run into good food didn't work that great a couple years ago.

Why in the hell do they limit it like that? I had the same problem as I only got two nights reserved at my hotel of choice and tried to book a third night somewhere else and was not allowed. This is insane!

It would be more than a simple fix to accommodate multiple reservations, since you would have to develop a system that balances multiple reservations per person without letting one person book all the hotels and scalp rooms. Such a system would take time to develop, and extra resources to run and hold such a system. All that for a very uncommon situation. Also they couldn't develop one multiple-reg system and use it for every booking they do. They could build infrastructure for it, but since each situation is different, they'd have to come up with a new logistical balance for every event, which would push back the time they'd be ready to go. Basically getting such a fringe situation in place could have pushed back tickets going on sale even longer. The simplest and fastest solution to the problem is to limit reservations to one per person.
**Full disclosure, I work for Booking.com ... don't kill me. I'm just an IT guy trying to help you all out
Lobstar, even though I had already booked The Hilton in Downtown Seattle via "Hotels.com", just wanted to thank you and show our appreciation for the heads up!
Got the Mayflower. Nice to see it on the same block as the Link station so coming and going to the airport should be easy.
Also have to say, there were so many more choices at walking distance than Pax East, so it was OK even if OnPeak kept failing me and I only got a room after switching devices.
I got my room at The Paramount, Very nice hotel, great staff, and last year I found a route to and from that avoided most of the up hill climbing (a godsend for my arthritic knees). IMO, better than the Hyatt or Sheraton (I've stayed in them for prior PAXs.
Doofenshmirtz: Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?
I have a room (Double Occupany - 2 Bed) at the Westin, for Aug 28 (Check - In) - Sept 1st (Check - Out). If anyone would like to trade bookings I'm looking for Double Occupancy - 2 Bed at either Sheraton (of course!) or The Paramount. Seems we can do a transfer via conference call with OnPeak. PM me if interested and we can give it a go.
This will be my first Pax and first time in Seattle. I booked the Fairmont Olympic Hotel (one of the last places available) - it seems to be highly rated, can anyone tell me about their experiences here?

I stayed at the Paramount for my first PAX, Wasn't too much of a fan of it but I mean everyone has different experiences. I stayed at the Westin in 2011 and then the Sheraton in 2012 and loved both of them, however I think I preferred the Westin which is the hotel I have booked now for Quad occupancy.

Has anyone stayed at Hostelling internation at the american Hotel? I normally do Green Tortoise Hostel but they're booked up, they have good yelp reviews but you can't be to careful.
Aside from the ideal location, is there anything especially nice about the Sheraton? This is the first year we actually got an OnPeak hotel and we haven't exactly been living in luxury our previous PAXes.
