Aside from the ideal location, is there anything especially nice about the Sheraton? This is the first year we actually got an OnPeak hotel and we haven't exactly been living in luxury our previous PAXes.
It's a pretty nice modern hotel but be prepared to pay extra for the amenities (Internet, Minibar) - granted I haven't been there since 2011 so maybe it's changed since.
I got my room at The Paramount, Very nice hotel, great staff, and last year I found a route to and from that avoided most of the up hill climbing (a godsend for my arthritic knees). IMO, better than the Hyatt or Sheraton (I've stayed in them for prior PAXs.
I stayed at the Paramount for my first PAX, Wasn't too much of a fan of it but I mean everyone has different experiences. I stayed at the Westin in 2011 and then the Sheraton in 2012 and loved both of them, however I think I preferred the Westin which is the hotel I have booked now for Quad occupancy.
Having a hotel you like usually makes for a better experience in almost any convention/expo/whatever. Here's to hoping that everyone has good hotel experiences this year!
Doofenshmirtz: Wow, if I had a nickel for every time I was doomed by a puppet, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

Last year I stayed at the Sheraton and they waived the wifi fee for PAX

Do they do this every year? I remember staying at The Sheraton one year during PAX (must have been 09?) and having free WiFi for my room. They even gave you a piece of paper mentioning having free WiFi as a gift for PAX attendees when you checked in, if I recall correctly. The next year, however, it wasn't free.
Does anyone know anything about the Roosevelt? I'm a pax virgin and I booked it on a whim during the mad badge/hotel flurry---mainly for the location. I haven't read too much about it on here and that's making me a little nervous!

I haven't heard anything bad about it, which is a good sign. Usually when people talk about hotels its because something went wrong.

I had the Sheraton last year & they didn't waive the wifi fee, unless it was something you had to ask for but we weren't in the room long enough to really warrant the wifi anyway. They also gave us a room on the 6th floor I think which ended up being quite a bit cheaper than what OnPeak had listed

I'm staying at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel - one of the last places left - it seems to have great reviews, anyone have any experience there? I have a feeling it will feel the least communal in the PAX spirit as in most attendees seem to be at other locations
Ended up a little farther away than last year, at the Renaissance Seattle Hotel - anyone have any intel on this place?
The bar was nice. Beyond that not much.

I stayed there when I went to the 2012 pax for 1 day & it was serviceable, I made the mistake of going to the red robin at the bottom of the hill and walking back up wasn't all that fun lol!
The beds were comfortable and pillows were decent and its close to the convention centre too (a couple blocks away)

I totally would have jumped on that Hyatt room if it had more than one bed. I'll just have to keep checking periodically to see if a two bed room opens at the Hyatt or the Sheraton.

Just checked the link, I guess some rooms opened up at the Hyatt for the entire weekend if anyone wants to jump on that.
Still not seeing anything available for the Hyatt... or anything...
I also saw the Hyatt on there but it said that only one room(with one bed) was available. I'd just keep checking if I were you. We are still about 3 months out, and some people's plans are bound to change between now and then.

Luckily I only need a 1 bed. Guess I'll just keep waiting though.
For those still in need of rooms, here's another option: grab a hotel in Bellevue, WA. The transit center there has an express bus (the 550) that goes to the convention center, takes about a half hour, and the prices are probably about the same as OnPeak since there's a lot less demand.

I stayed there last year and overall it was a good hotel, just a little farther away from everything. Rooms were a good size and seemed recently updated. I didn't have any major complaints about it, my only real gripe was the walk up the hill at the end of the day.

Thanks for the info! It does look to be a bit farther than I was expecting, but everything else was only available on a couple of days, not the full span. Glad to hear it is not bad other than the walk. I will probably be checking out more panels this year, but Husband plans to do more walking around the show-floor... good thing I am the griper, between us! Hopefully not too much griping overall!

I stayed their in 2012. Very spacious rooms for people sleeping on the floor. Make sure you sign up for the Fairmont preferred membership online (it's free). It'll give you access to their in room internet for free.
Anyone have any experience with the Hilton Seattle? I was just thrilled to get a spot down near the Convention Center. Any feedback on anything good or bad to expect there?
Also, I booked a double occupancy 2-bed room, and I have 4 guys. Anyone that has stayed there before, do you know if we'll have any difficulty having a couple sleep on the floor (is there room for that)?
Make sure you get the Wi-Fi password from the front desk at the Hilton- we didn't have wi-fi for most days because we didn't find the password imo they are all about the same
Also staying at the Fairmont Olympic. Not really a fan of how it looks old as hell, but it's only 4 blocks from the con. I walk to the con at 4:30 AM, so I would have liked a little closer, but oh well.
Aside from distance which is completely fine, how is the Red Lion? I was there last year for the FFXIV game but curious about the rooms and such & if people had good experiences at it

Does the Grand Hyatt have some type of connection to the convention center or do you just walk out and down the street?
It's a very short walk to the actual convention center. Only slightly longer than walking from The Sheraton, I believe. Certain panels tend to be held in the Hyatt's lobby (labelled as the Kraken and Unicorn theatre last year).
The Hyatt does have a connection to some delicious sushi, however. You can simply walk in from the hotel lobby!
blue-c has since raised their prices significantly since last PAX, mostly due to it being a tourist trap. You can find better for cheaper at an actual sushi restaurant.

I stayed there last year and even tho I got my pick of the litter for hotels this year, we still chose it for 2014. Nice hotel, wifi included was great. Very affordable parking rate. It is an average to small room size, much like the sheraton. Essentially, it is the sheraton, but you are getting wifi guaranteed & a cheaper parking rate.

What is the deal with the Sheraton? I caved and bought a room there since all of the ones on OnPeak ran out, and I've never been to Prime before, so I'm a bit lost in the sauce.
Hopeful First Time Attendee of PAX Prime 2014.

It is the closest hotel to PAX (literally across the street). It also has some panels hosted in its ballrooms.

Is that the only advantage. Seems like a pretty ritzy place

The Sheraton is a nice hotel, but nothing more than the other close hotels.
The advantage is the proximity to the convention & the ballrooms / lobbies are used extensively through the weekend for Paxing (Shout out to the Thursday night tabletop event).
Each year Pax takes over more and more of other hotels though, so the only real advantage the Sheraton has these days is saving a few steps to the convention center.

OnPeak had nothing to do with it. The link still works just fine (you can find it in the first post of this thread. )
PA changed the link on their website due to there only being only a few rooms left here and there.
