This has never happened in the past, so expect the information on what is coming out to leak shortly. And no, it's not The Last of Us Remastered according to someone in-the-know over there.

Posted already, but didn't know that TLOU was debunked.
Only other thing I can think of is the NFC figurines. I'd say that's crazy, since they would almost assuredly wait for the holidays, but maybe it's just to get the first few sets out there so they can be all collectible and shit.

the dis-Kinected Xbox One SKU drops on the 9th. its possible they've seen a high number of pre-orders and expect a sales spike during E3.

You can easily get a Kinected Xbox One for the same price through eBay and Craigslist.
I can't imagine a sales spike being that significant that Gamestop has to stay open extra hours.
A Wii U with NFC figures released, that I can see.
If there's anything coming into stock for the beginning of next week at Gamestop surely we're going to see a leak tomorrow/saturday as it'd have to be delivered then. Still, that'd be so cool if true, my dream for E3 is always for them to announce something and say 'available RIGHT NOW'. If all three did it with Microsoft releasing Halo 2 Anniversary, Sony releasing some remastered collection (God of War or Motorstorm or something) and Nintendo releasing that Mario Maker I'd be so, so happy. And poor.
Yeah, I mean people keep citing the Saturn as a poor example, but I'm pretty sure the "available right now" approach could work for some new game or something.
Since they mentioned how theaters playing the Sony event would have some kind of giveaway, I'm doubly hoping they announce something and have it right there in the theater for purchase (or maybe free?).
Given Nintendos stance on E3 figurines, I would love to see some released for Mario Kart 8 during E3 that unlock different characters. That would be so awesome.

Oooooh. I hope so. Great idea. Smash Kart can exist...by buying NFC Figurines that will hopefully work for a lot of Nintendo properties. Smash Everything!
Legacy on
Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
Well they call it the NFP, so it's some kind of "Will work in previous and newer games" so I imagine Mario Kart being the latest, they could have some kind of thing.
Or they could surprise us and we get new players for Super Mario 3D World. Which would also be cool.

I would die on the spot if that happened.
So will all the children when I Juggernaut my 6'6" 230lb frame into Gamestops front doors to get my copy.

With my luck, whatever happens, it'll likely be something dudebro-related that I'm not interested in that's on a platform I likely don't even own.

I would like that, until the value proposition question pops up on whether it's worth paying x amount for a single character.
If they were to add a character, some extra car parts and maybe an extra race track, then you would be onto something.

No sane manager stays open because of a sales spike on a specific product.
You want a fucking Kinectless Xbox One, then you get your bloody arse to the store before 9:30.

But if Microsoft paid GameStop corporate to tell them to stay open, then... Nope, still a stupid idea.
"Everyone, we've decided to follow in Microsoft's footsteps for a change. As of today, we're offering KINECTLESS versions of all our products. That's right, if you walk into any retailer today or order from any online retailer today then you can buy a Kinectless PS4, Kinectless PS3, Kinectless Vita - our entire line!"
The more I think about it, the less likely that the Gamestop promotion correlates with Nintendo.
If they are told to stay open late on a Monday, then it would have to be Sony or MS related, since Nintendo isn't on until Tuesday.
If they're told to open early on Tuesday, wouldn't that be a bit presumptuous since Nintendo's stream could be viewed at any time? Would the audience that watches it the moment it comes out be big enough to then drive to Gamestop? Furthermore, wouldn't Gamestop be open at normal hours anyway?
What could be possible is that the announcement is for something that releases Wednesday, with Gamestop having a midnight launch on Tuesday. Then the odds that it's Smash Bros or NFC-related shoot up a bit more.
Otherwise, the timing for a late night opening makes the most sense with Sony, since their conference starts at night. This would also benefit from the theatrical showings, since it raises the odds of people being out of their homes and near a Gamestop.
I'd say the odds are highest that it's Sony related, with Nintendo being a close second.

I kind of doubt it's Nintendo - not exactly their M.O. I could see Sony or MS doing that tho.

On a more serious note the one thing that Sony could do to misstep here is come across as arrogant and assholish without a strong games list, while microsoft come out humble and supportive of their own team and fans.
Granted I just think both are going to go for embarrassing enthusiasm and itll be a wash
In all honesty, I semi-stole it from someone else here on PA. It might have been in this thread. I think their pun was slightly different, but the idea isn't mine.

Well....it depends on the price.
$10 for a set of four Marios would be a good value, sure.

More along the lines of 12+ dollars each, and people will gladly pay that.
