LOL I guess he wasn't expecting the Frostbite -> Freezing Field combo out of nowhere.
Possibly a dagon in there too? That's what sucks about playing gyro though. You really need damage items to do anything as a carry, but your range is attack range is stupid short and you have paper thin armor and and health, so if you get locked down, say goodbye.
I guess that's why Riot gave him a gap closer/escape mechanism in LoL.
With 3 Divines he should've been able to shred her. I guess one of his other items wasn't BKB if she actually got a kill on him... which is his own fault for not buying that on Gyro.

I hid in the trees just to the right of where the Radiant T2 mid tower had been, where they couldn't see me. Undying and Gyro walked into range, and I popped Freezing Field. Both took a couple of hits; Gyro belatedly popped his BKB after getting down to about 600 health, and ran up the ramp just north of where the tower was, while Undying ran towards the Dire side and Force Staffed his way onto high ground to flee from the wrath of Crystal Maiden. I ran out towards mid, trying to catch Undying (not realizing he'd jumped the cliff). Dire creeps continue to lumber down the lane, since I'd killed the Radiant wave with my ult. As I ran out, I think that Gyro spotted me. I was on the other side of the wave of creeps.
Gyro ran in to kill the poor, defenceless Crystal Maiden, and got a shot off, taking me down a pretty good chunk. But I hit him with Frostbite, and he didn't get a second shot off - creeps and right clicks and ticking damage from Frostbite killed him. No Dagon necessary; the only other things I had in my inventory were TP scrolls and wards.

I apologize for the double post, but I just had my favourite game of DOTA ever.
I was Radiant, playing Medusa; we also had a Faceless Void, Visage, Enigma, and Windranger. The Dire had Death Prophet, Nature's Prophet, Keeper of the Light, Huskar, and Techies. Their ability to push towers and to keep us from effectively pushing towers meant that by the 38 minute mark, we'd lost all but our mid T3 tower, and our top barracks, while they still had their top T2 and bottom T1 up. They were 15k ahead in XP, and about 17k ahead in gold.
And no one on my pub team said a single negative word about anyone. No one on the other team trash talked. What chat there was was pretty good natured and complimentary. IT WAS AWESOME.
And then they picked a bad team fight, and we team wiped them. In the wake of that team fight, we took their top T2 and bottom T1 and T2. Thanks to the gold boost from the towers and kills, we pulled to within 5k gold. We kept pushing, with Medusa and Void being pretty much fully "on," and took their top and mid barracks. They came back up, and DP and NP were able to basically rat out our bottom barracks. I got killed by being force-staffed into a pile of mines, and they pushed up middle. They killed Void and Windranger at our T3, Visage was already dead, with 11 seconds before spawning. We had no glyph. Enigma was still up, against their entire team.
Huskar died to our tower. Void bought back. Our T3 tower fell. And then, low on health and mana, they fell back. Void pursued, killed Keeper of the Light. I popped, cleared bot. We pushed back waves, and then Death Prophet and Huskar walked into my team while chasing me. We pushed into their throne, and Nature's Prophet tried to TP bot to rat the game out. I stopped him with help from Visage, and my allies took out the enemy T4s. I cleared out bot again, while buybacks on the Dire side saved their ancient.
I avoided pushing bot, where I assumed that the Techie had mined everything to hell (he did), and pushed in top. Their entire team descended on me. Techies, guarding the ancient, fell to me. Then the other four arrived and focused me.
And they could not kill me.
During the draft, my team asked me to draft a tank.
Medusa did the job.
Hurting badly, they ran back to their fountain, and Windranger and I focused their Ancient hard. DP came out with her ult and killed me just as the Dire ancient fell.
It's probably not really accurate to call it a "good game;" it was ten people who are probably sub-3k just not being able to finish a game.
But holy shit it was fun.

Heh. I find games like that so damn stressful. I've noticed that push teams tend to do exactly what happened in the that game; quickly grab the outer towers and then immediately stall out because pushing high ground is so difficult. A lot of pub teams aren't good about taking the map control they just earned, and so the enemy team can actually turtle.

In those marginal games patience and farming the map is better than diving headlong into a massacre at their high ground T3s. Even if you feel like youre losing momentum as the push team (which you are) you probably need a rosh or a pickoff to take highground. Unfortunately people panic, force bad pushes up highground and feed the game away.
The great thing about a push team in a pub is you no longer have to herd cats: the team is all focused on one thing. Unfortunately the tunnel visioning this can cause is a big weakness as well.

The big teamfight that turned my game around was just lack of wards in the right place and time for the other team. I had pushed up a lane, and almost got ganked (replay showed me walking around enormous piles of mines like I could see them, it was bizarre) and I had to retreat with a TP scroll. The other team tried to follow that up with a push, and walked into a devastating chrono and got team wiped.

I think one important thing to consider, as was mentioned above, when you've taken all the T2s, but can't quite take T3s yet -- don't just sit outside the base. Someone should be farming your jungle, someone should be farming their jungle. There's more gold on the map available to you, so you should be building your lead and looking for pickoffs.
As a carry you should be ABF... Always be farming. Nothing makes me lose my shit more then seeing 2-3 of my team hanging out in lane close to the stairs to the T3's. If you don't have the punch need to get the towers back off and farm instead of wasting time.
Had not played void since he became the flavor of the summer and forgot how utterly ridiculous backtrack is.
I've been watching Tales from the Trench on youtube by Rustsandstuffs and I never knew that 1MMR was even possible, some simply stupid choices by these players.
Because if you're going to attempt to squeeze that big black monster into your slot you will need to be able to take at least 12 inches or else you're going to have a bad time...

On the flip side, there's plenty of times that people associate towers with more control than they're actually worth. People who want to defend T2s against deathballs with one guy down or needing 3+ additional TPs in are usually being dumb, and people who do that and also expect to not get dove are doubly so.
My lane is me and a mag for some reason. Lina and wd were bot. We were dire and my brain on Luna since I have not played her not with friends.
Mag spends the entire laning phase fighting for last hits. He really should of been solo or dual bot.
So I am an underfarmed luna. Get jumped by a pudge who already had 4 kills. I explode.
I then go back to farming because fuck I need to catch up.
Try to help Mag who is jumped by pudge thinking pudged used his ult. Nope, get hit by pudge and jug ult.
Okay so back to farming, get my boots and a bracer.
Go to help push bot. Miss a beam by about an inch and everyone is like why you not beam? I am like because I was out of range. Get killed being too aggressive. Get called a feeder. I am just at this point annoyed.
I won my lane outside of mag stealing half or more of the last hits. Got jumped though. But because of this I am the feeder.
I just don't get solo queue after so many nights of queuing with folks.
I can see how they slot him into that pusher role, but he can do that without Refresher, and be able to contribute more to the team. Just with the Ahgs, towers fall apart. Also, we're talking Razor with an incredible amount of farm...at that point you're winning on draft, or a botched teamfight, or so far ahead it doesn't matter.

We're a heavily magic dependant team right... Once the enemy gets BKBs we're just about screwed. Only chance in fights is to get quick pickoffs once it goes late.
What does the Sky do? Builds a first item Bloodstone... Then an Etherblade... Then a Dagon 5... Then finally a Linkens (after he gets Doomed constantly and can't do anything).
Like... what?
He can dish out the damage if he catches someone unawares, sure. But as soon as BKBs are popped...

Lina is not really a great choice as a carry. Once they get bkb's you really fall off the power curve. Going chrysalis really helps with that with her crazy attack speed.

I've been having weird mm issues with normal solo queue all week; either I get stuck with a team full of new players who don't know how to lane and we get stomped so hard I want to uninstall, or I get a hyper competent team who just walks all over the enemy team.
Last night was a good example, I run Omni with a Tiny against a KotL/Sven combo. It goes very bad, since Sven's stun is always up and Tiny doesn't have the faintest idea how to last hit against an aggressive lane. Next game I run abaddon and Axe cons me into going top lane to help him cut creeps. It was probably about the dirtiest way to win a game of Dota I've ever experienced. It took nearly 10 minutes before they brought 4 people into the lane to chase us out. But by then is was waaaay too late and their team never recovered.
I had just started playing him but I would routinely go QW before that patch. Now I go EQ almost all the time. I did in that game as well since we had a Legion Commander. It is crazy not to get Sunstrike in that scenario.
He's extremely fun to play if you're being successful with hooks. If you aren't and your team is raging at you it is quite crappy.
I had a magical game as Invoker last night. 22-1-10. Finished the game level 25 and their highest level was 18. I was a monster.
You can still farm blink and initiate and gank with blink/devour. Then hook point blank for easy kills. He's a pretty easy ganker actually, even if you can't hook at max range.

I prefer QW simply because its more fun. And easier. And almost infinite mana in laning stage, so you can go super aggro.
Microing minions screws me over, so I'm not too fond of EQ.

Cutting creeps with Axe + awesome partner is SO much fun. I like Dark Seer with him, since you can Surge him the hell out of there if things get hairy. But it is super aggressive, and risky, if your partner doesn't know what's up.
No matter how often I tell people I play with, they still freak about non-"perfect" team comp. I try to tell them... listen, just play smart and we can still get this. They don't listen. But I'm right.
Woah, had one of those rare ranked games where my team didn't flip out on each other when the early lanes failed. My WK/ Earth Shaker lane fed a nyx/veno combo a ton of kills and bot lane was completely lost by 8 minutes. Most of the time that would cue everyone else on the team to start spamming "gg ff please, bot lane noobs," but no one said a word, we just re-grouped, farmed our items and came back to easily win the game.

Very rarely does team comp lose you a game at my level (~2800MMR). They don't listen though.

Jugg/Skywrath top, Tiny mid, Enigma Jungle, Spec Safe
Ursa/Dazzle top, DP mid, WD/Cent bot
