Brand new at video editing. Need some advice ^_^

Mizuki55Mizuki55 Registered User new member
Hello everyone,

After being inspired by a few Let's Players on Youtube, I decided that I want to begin a let's play channel myself. I am brand new at video editing and need some help. If anyone can give me advice on where to start, I would very much appreciate it.

I am getting a 3DS Capture Card to capture the video of the games I want to do. A Blue Snowball USB microphone is on its way so I can record quality sound.

What I need help with is which program(s) do I need to record the commentary separately and then edit them together, because I find it hard to do live commentary. An inexpensive or free program would be ideal, as well as an easy userface.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can share.

I like Camtasia, but it's a little pricey.

Make sure you've read up on what's been happening with Let's Plays and YouTube lately, especially with Nintendo. Basically the publishers are looking to profit from your work.

Drift0r on Youtube has a series sponsored by El Gato about improving your Youtube channel. Might be worth checking out his Youtube 101 tips also to get a good idea on the basics of making videos, thumbnails, etc.

I am not familiar with that youtube channel (let's play)

but as someone mentioned Audacity is great and it is free for recording your voice (I think the snowball is really overkill, but hey if you can afford it knock yourself out). As for video capture MSI is free and captures just fine.

as for the editing, the sky is the limit on how crazy you want to get. Do a google of "top 10 free video editing software" and you will get tons of hits. But honestly for ease of use, windows movie make is free and very very very easy to use.
