Someone asked this before, didn't see an answer. Does merchant gold respawn? Cause I've already burned through the good merchant's supplies and selling stuff at like 1/5th the price it should get will kill me.

It doesn't really that I've seen. However, money spent repairing or crafting at smiths does go into their available funds, so it's at least somewhat cyclical with them.

So is there some weirdness going on with werewolves?
I fought the one during the Wild Hearts quest and it's health regenerated so fast I couldn't kill it. I reloaded after I died and wiped him out in about 4 swings? Is there something specific that I'm missing? I hit him with igni the second go round. Maybe that's it? That fight didn't seem to update my bestiary so I don't know any specific weakness these guys have, yet.

Did you have a blade oil applied? It could have just been a bug, they regenerate but not terribly fast.

turned off point of interest markers on the map. and then turned off everything that doesnt auto-hide for the hud. so i only have health bars pop up and such when needed. disabled the mini-map too and im just enjoying it more, exploration feels better by not just checking out the nearest ? marker. i might turn the mini-map back on though, we'll see if i can find my way around via the landscape and the sun.

wish the journal entries were more in the realm proper descriptions like morrowind or something (cant remember if witcher 1 did it too but something tells me not)

Werewolves activate a really fast health regen - it's one of their special abilities, like how noonwraiths can split. Burning and bleeds can halt it, or a Moon Dust bomb.

I like to think of the Question Markers as this box that MIGHT have a Place of Power in it. If not, at least you'll get some loot. In the first stage, I think we got a bit spoiled in that it seemed like half were PoP. I think I've found TWO so far in the hours I've been in Velen.

So, be careful around 'sunken treasure' boats because there's at least one in Western Velen that you can get inside and never get back out of.

I know this because I'm currently stuck in said boat.

I'm suffering from a mysterious weight gain problem. I was doing some free roam adventuring tonight. Sight seeing, treasure hunting, bandit camp clearing - that kind of thing. Every now and then, I have to visit a trader/craftsman to sell my stuff.

Get this, second to last time I sold all my heavy stuff, I had 38/90 weight. Two hours later, selling all my heavy stuff, it's 65/90. I don't know how I put on the weight. Creamy Pies maybe? Cheesy Puffs? My Geralt feels bloated as fuck!

Anybody got an inkling of how I might have put up that weight?

P.S. Treasure hunting in Velen is amazing once I hit about level 10, and could handle most things the game throws at me in this zone. Finally found a badass looking cuirass, I have a steel sword that sets people ablaze practially with every swipe, my silver sword freezes monsters in their tracks - the good life!

man this game has really shaken my confidence in CDP:R

first game that's primarily a console focused launch and they seem to have completely half assed the PC port, like so many developers before them

The game was designed on PC with all platforms in mind. I don't really understand the whining, since it's still a very "PC RPG" while still being on consoles. Some people are just angry any time was spent on consoles, but they said they wouldn't have even been able to make a 3rd game without making it for consoles as well, for sales.

What's your complaint, exactly, about the PC version? It's well optimized. It looks great. just saying "half assed" doesn't really leave any room for discussion since it makes zero sense, unless you just wanted to publicly vent? that's what i don't get.

the biggest complains i see from PC gamers are "it doesn't run like i think it should on my unique PC!" and "DOWNGRADE DOWNGRADE GRGRBRHGRHHRB." I'm running on an old GTX 580 with a core i7, and I still pull ~50 fps on medium.

I've spent more time crashing and restarting the game than I have playing it
If I roll back my driver, my gtx 970 jitters constantly
if I use the newest one, it locks up so hard the computer has to be restarted

it seems like using a controller is the culprit for the lion's share of crashes, and running fullscreen, vsync off has further reduced them

but there doesn't seem to be a way to eliminate them entirely

i dont want to be a dick but maybe something in your system is fucked? my system is way below the min spec and i have most things on ultra and few things on low and im getting 25-30fps and i have not had a single crash yet.

If you google "witcher 3 crash" you'd realize it's not just me, it's affecting lots and lots of people

I actually solved the issue just now after many frustrating hours of trial and error

it's 2 monitors, it seems to be everyone with a 970 running 2 monitors since my nephew and my friend also have 970s and also had this crashing issue and disconnecting the other monitor seems to have fixed it for all 3 of us

so fyi anyone having severe crashing issues with a 970

it seems to be something to do, specifically, with monitors of differing refresh rates (I'm not sure why that should matter, this is the first game I've run into that has this issue). I mean it's pretty easy to blame the hardware but pc games are pretty stable these days, a crash that locks the PC up and is repeatable within 5 minutes is a big deal

The problem people are having isn't that you are having crashes, or even that they are trying to handwave the crashes you have.
It's your assertation that they focused on console first.

    1). It's false.
2). Every Witcher PC game prior to this has been worse for most people until patching. This is the most functional Witcher PC yet for a wide variety of setups.
3). Consoles are easier to develop for, not because off their specific hardware, but because they don't change. Your point about the current generation of consoles being PC hardware is completely irrelevant. It doesn't matter what the hardware is: if it doesn't change, it's going to be easier to work out the bugs.

Anyone claiming this is worse than the previous games needs to run a google search on Witcher 2 or Witcher 1 with a limited date range just after launch, because your memory is wrong.

Btw I had inventory and cutscene crashes until I set fps to unlimited. Haven't had one since. I play with a controller. It's not the controller.

Some junk, like furs, are really heavy. Clear out your junk of anything you an easily farm up again if you need it. Anything from a common animal, basically. Also some crafting stuff is fairly heavy, logical stuff like ingots, ore, heavy bits of metal or hardened hide etc. Monster bits too. Sell anything you have more than 10 of for monster bits.

They slowly accumulate more money over a long period of time. I had a merchant hit 0, immediately meditated for two days, he had 230. This was a guy in a major town, so he likely earns more per day than a dude out in a village.
There's actually a money making trick in novigrad based on meditating for a week to refresh their stock. I can't remember the details because I wasn't interested in it.

This also works for merchants selling items.
Eg I wanted some quicksilver, the merchant only had 1. I meditated for two days, went back, they had 3.

Doing that already. It isn't that. It's either a bug, or there's some random crafting material that's untypically heavy. Dunno, maybe if I find a trader with more than 80 gold, I'll be able to get to the bottom of this, by just selling everything that doesn't look super rare. If only I could filter my inventory by weight.

I guess it's just a game like Elder Scrolls and Fallout, where eventually I just start to loot very selectively, because inventory management becomes an untenable hassle, if I loot everything.

P.S. I hate traders with limited gold. It doesn't add significant immersion, but nigh unlimited tedium. I'm overburdened, now I got to quicktravel to every known trader in the world to sell it all. Ugh. I wish games would stop doing that.

Yeah I was really confused until I went through my junk and offloaded the heavier stuff including furs.
    I sell furs
in novigrad at a general merchant near the market square fast travel post.
Not the market the post is in, there's another square market down the road past vivaldi and to the left. He's on the right coming in from that entrance. He gives good money for random stuff I can't find a specialist for. He's across from a blacksmith that gives good money for swords.
Be careful about mindlessly disassembling furs. Some of them cost a lot to break down.

Is this the merchant you meant?

For people wondering about merchants and regenerating cash I read somewhere that at least one merchant regenerates cash every 5 days or so. Just tested meditating for 5 days against the blacksmith in novagrad. He started with 422 crowns after selling him a bunch of swords (down from 800+). After sleeping 5 days it was 645 crowns. So it appears merchants do regenerate cash.

Weirdly, despite dying at least once to every other major monster, I haven't died to the two werewolves I've fought so far.
Strong attacks fuck them up. They can't out regen my damage.
I've still got the viper silver sword.

You do have to be extremely careful with them though. You can't mash on them at all because their counter attack is really nasty.

Anyway, this is how you deal with a werewolf easy.
Aaxi, roll to back, 3 x strong, evade, aaxi, roll to back, 3x strong, evade he regens, you laugh, aaxi, roll to back, 3x strong evade, etc dead

Straight up. Realized I had the book that gives you the bestiary update in my inventory. Read it. Then realized the only thing I have its weak against is Igni and that only seems to work once out of ever 3 to 4 casts, by which point it's just regenerated all its health back. So it looks like I'm gonna have to stop my quest to go try and buy or find the recipes and the ingredients for the things I don't have to fight this one werewolf.

    -Random Weight Gain Riddle Solved-

Figured out what weighed me down so much. Crossbow Bolts. Not being able to sell bolts to craftsmen made me overlook them for the longest time. I looted a bunch of stacks from bandits and their hideout chests. They're surprisingly heavy. 60 bolts are almost 10 weight units, and I got almost 200 various bolts total in my inventory. *facepalm*

P.S. Bolts cannot be sold to anyone, it seems. I've got rare Relic quality Split Bolts for 10 weight sitting in my inventory. I can't use them 'til I'm lvl 22. I'm lvl 12. Not what I'd call an ideal situation.

P.P.S. Anybody know of a type of NPC that's buying bolts? Because dropping these to the ground gives me a tummy ache. So salty!

    Sure...
Have you done the quest yet where Keira gives you the Eye of Nehelani to dispel illusions? Well in that long room where you did the White Frost event, where Keira had a shield and she moved around the room to protect you, if you go to the back of that room (oppisite the exit she lets you dispel), there is a wall you can break with Aard. Beyond that is an illusion you can dispel, and past that is a chest with Maugrim, a level 6 required, 3 upgrade slot, 150-171 DPS silver sword.

I have the i5 3570K not even oc'd, with a GTX770 2GB version. Using GeForce Experience settings(mostly ultra with a few highs), I run mid 50fps with occasional fps into the 40's for the briefest times.

@GnomeTank can you tell me exactly where this static silver sword is please? I'm level 9 and I'm still using the viper. No matter where I go I can't find an upgrade I can craft prior to level 12.
I'm having real trouble with this weak ass silver sword and would like to know where to go to get a better one.
I've been having incredibly bad luck with random drops and loot. All I get is better steel swords. I haven't found a single looted silver sword ever since launch.

Oh shit, I found that thing and didn't even think to go back after getting the dispelling item! That's really close to the exit too.
    Thanks!

Getting horrendously tempted to vite the bullet and upgrade to a GTX 960. The Radeon 7870 I have now runs fine at medium settings, but pushing the pretties in GTA V, Witcher 3, not to mention VR down the road, needs something a little meatier. Plus the damn thing's loud as heck.

Yeah, GeForce Experience's recommended settings tend to be pretty spot on. I'm learning to trust it more and more, at least to provided a good baseline.
