Against Anub went with Priest with Lightwells, Ancient Watchers, Sunfury Protectors, Inner fire, and Divine Spirits, Alexstraza was the win condition here.
Against Grand Widow went with Token Druid, just crushed her when I had a good mulligan for innervates/teacher.
Finally against Maxxena went with Hunter with vodoo doctors, elven archers, owls, unleash the hounds, explosive traps, and hound masters (along with a bunch of other random beasts).
Hey guys, it's been forever. Back in this for Naxx. Only have Heroic Anub and Maexxna left. Drafted an insane arena just now. Maybe Arena is lonely? Feels like half my deck is rare+.
I absolutely cannot beat any of the dudes on Heroic. I am not sure what I am doing wrong but my Druid deck is subpar as I don't have any Ancients of Lore or War. I have Ironbark Protectors but they are terrible compared to the other two.
I have no idea what to use... Guess I will just keep trying. Something has to work eventually.
Not sure if anyone confirmed this already but I just tested it and Echoing Ooze + Mark of the Wild = two 3/4 taunt Oozes at the end of turn. So they do copy any buffs on them.
Has anyone been on the ladder today? What sort of decks are popping up?
Probably still a bit early to tell, everyone is testing stuff with the new cards. It's going to be a crazy month with new cards every week and the meta will take a while to stabilize after that.
edit: Reynad is testing a tempo rogue deck with Haunted Creepers and Anub'ar Ambushers right now on his stream.
Ok, well, beat normal mode and unlocked the class cards but I'm definitely not trying heroic in this lag Every single action of every single turn takes forEVER.
That said, the solo adventure mode stuff is pretty fun.
excited to try out the new cards though; seems like there is a lot of stuff that will be a good fit for my shaman

I just played the slowest arena game of all time
ended up missing an attack with my priestess of elune (useful for a deck with 4 war axes and a reaper) and an armor up at one point due to lag, but it didn't end up mattering
I know I'm probably posting from a place of anger right now but is there a deck cost I'm supposed to have spent to play the new single player stuff?
I play largely a control priest and a zoo warlock and I can't even remotely get close to beating Anub. On normal. At all.
By turn 3 he has that 2/8 taunt minion out and he just summons the 3/1 spiders and then literally just trades until my deck runs out. I'm not even sure from a meta point of view HOW to stop it. I've played against people online and gotten destroyed and I've never been half as frustrated as I am right now.

dude
control priest
you have sw: pain, deathlord shouldn't be an issue
or if you don't, why the hell don't you
and the 3/1s are taken care of by holy nova/auchenei-circle
I absolutely stomped Anub with my midrange priest, I don't know how you're having issues.
what does your zoo deck look like @stevemarks44? I played zoolock for all 3 of the normal mode bosses
I just closed the game and I'll take a look next time I open but it's largely basic cards with some random rares I've opened with packs.
I know it sounds like a snarky question but I really mean it earnestly. I've invested zero real cash and only really crafted a few cards to round out my priest deck.
Is this expansion for people who have really crafted the upper-tier decks for themselves since the games release? I'm okay if this single player portion isn't "for me", but this is easily the least fun I've had playing the game and I don't want to be soured on it if I'm just punching way above my weight.

My Turn 1: Coin + Nerubian Egg
Priest Turn 1: Pass
My Turn 2: Innervate + Keeper of the Grove, 2 damage to Nerubian Egg
Priest Turn 2: ...
Woo, finally beat Maexxna Heroic with my priest mass board clear deck
spoilers on how it's almost EASY:
but the main trick to that match is earth ring farseers and most importantly, MTC.
That dude did WORK. You don't even need card draw with him in the deck.
I actually had 2 arcane intellects and one cold-light oracle I never used because my hand was always full of cards from MTC.
ACTUALLY, playing them would've killed me because near the end of the match I almost fatigued myself because I just couldn't get enough minions on board.
yeah one pyromancer should pretty much shut anub down, as a priest. Every turn or two you can cast a spell to mostly clear his board, and since none of the normal mode guys have much in the way of extra draw you just have to survive about five turns and it gets pretty easy.

Of course I start arena with 10 seconds of lag between every action. I really wouldn't advise anyone to play right now unless you have an extremely high tolerance for 3 minutes turns.

Have you considered throwing together a mage deck? 3/1s are completely irrelevent to even a mediocre Mage deck.
I one-shotted all three missions with mage, rogue, rogue respectively, as someone who has played enough arena to have a good selection of cards but has never crafted anything and doesn't have especially meta decks. I don't even remember what's in the mage deck. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't think they're very hard if you make a token effort to build and play around the hero power (mage for the first battle, something aggressive that keeps hand sizes low-ish for the second, and something with a preference for cheap battlecries for the third).

Thank you for the advice! I was assuming this kind of thing would be a one-size-fits-all situation but maybe I'll play with some newer characters and see if I fare any better.

Hah, I fatigued out Maexxna. With some combination of mukla, coldlights and vanish I burnt about half her deck. Here's me offering a pair of delicious bananas before sapping the sea giant into his grave:
And here's she is, dying with two useless eggs on the board to headcrack and fatigue:
Yeah, I initially planned on using my ramp druid deck. Then I took one look at those hero powers and said "hahaha NOPE".
Smashed Anub with my ramp druid deck. Looked a bit dicey at the start, but was smooth sailing. His card draw is horrible, even if he can play 3/1 creatures every turn.

Definitely want different decks for different bosses, IMHO. As noted, mages are hilarious vs. normal Anub'Arak.

Fucking spiders! If she hadn't bounced my Tazdingo I'd have won.
Also, here's some Pyromancer MVP action (from the game before that one):

Just Goddamn.
Not so much when you crazed alchemist it...
Muahahaha!
That was very much the point where my run against Heroic Anub'rekhan turned from good win to absolute domination.

probably helps that I got a sweet ass deck with 3 lightning bolts and 4 fire elementals though

My ramp/token druid actually worked pretty well on the second heroic boss, and on the first two bosses in normal.
