Heroic Maexxna: Battlecry cheese Rogue made specifically for this fight
The Nerubian Eggs are awesome. I crafted an obnoxious Priest deck that utilizes them, and plays around their ubiquity.
I didn't find the bosses that hard on normal. On NA, I muscled through all three, plus Heroic Anub'rekhan and Heroic Faerlina with a standard legendary Warrior control deck. Couldn't take on Heroic Maexxna with it though - too many high-cost minions - so I just built an aggro Rogue deck with MCT, Voodoo Doctor, Earthen Ring Farseer, Elven Archer, Mad Bomber, and SI-7 Agent. There may have been other cards in the deck, but they didn't really matter, since I just constantly played out the same ones repeatedly (and the ones you steal from Maexxna using MCT).
On EU and Asia, I did the normals with a pretty basic Mage deck and then a pretty basic Rogue deck respectively. They were just generic decks (Yetis and Oozes!) with whatever legendaries I had opened thrown in. I think my EU deck had Mukla, Cairne, and the Beast - all of which saw play - and the Rogue deck had Edwin, Greenskin, and Geddon, none of which saw play.
If anything, I found the Druid challenge hardest. There are a whole bunch of cards in that deck that are utterly worthless - Stoneskin Gargoyle, grrrr. And I found myself relying on Echoing Ooze + some buff combo to get me through, except that meant I had to survive until I had enough mana and those cards in hand, which was hard with those bullshit chargers rushing me down. Basically consisted of me conceding by like turn 3 repeatedly until I got a decent opener.
Humour notes:
When Kel'Thuzad asks how we managed to get into Naxxramas, as an old WoW player I wanted to say, "Really slowly and painfully."
I love that Maexxna has prohibited cards in her deck. Kel'thuzad chastizes her when she plays Sea Giant (heroic only?) saying that she's not allowed having those, but on normal, she also seems to have a Captain's Parrot entirely randomly.

I had some problems with the card-specific challenges in Naxx. Took me 2 or 3 tries for each special deck to finally beat those bosses. Some of it was bad draws, and certainly some lazy/bad play, but goddamn, there are some TERRIBLE creatures in those decks.
No less than FOUR gargoyles in the druid deck. What an awful minion.

That deck also had a bunch of marks and arguses. It becomes an amazing minion when you give it taunt and an attack buff.

Beat the norm bosses and the druid/rogue challenges. Pretty fun. I enjoyed it way more than getting stomped by 5 legendary-card decks. Whatever.

Had a lot of difficulty with the last boss. Tried and tried to make Rogue work.
Eventually milled her out with a controlish Druid.
My Deck:
Moonfire x2
Claw x2
Naturalize x2
Elven Archer x2
Wrath x2
Ironbeak x2
Wild Pyromancer x2
Healing Touch x2
BGH x2 (for the Sea Giants)
Bite x2
Poison Seeds x2 (Used in combination with Starfall)
Swipe x2
Keeper x2
Starfall x2
Ancient of Lore x2
I beat her on the first try with this, but if I had to tweak it a bit I would drop an Ancient for a Bloodmage. Might drop something else for a Black Knight.
The druid deck is a bunch of cards that become super efficient with +health taunt, a bunch of +health taunt cards, and innervates against a class that is only threatening if you have lots of cards in hand, and besides the 1/4s, plays a lot of cards that have really low health pools.
Like... the class specific druid deck couldn't be better if it tried, and as a generic, <1000 dust, no card steal value priest I was able to beat the normal bosses in 2/1/1 tries (generic priest value happens to run a lot of battlecries). They are really terrible and use their hero powers awfully, in that they'd rather throw crap you can clear than gain tempo with their power.
Is Hearthstone like, super laggy for anyone else? I don't mean now, it's been like this for weeks for me. Like, I'll complete a match, and the sounds will play, but it takes several seconds for the animations to load and catch up?
It was silky smooth when I got into the beta several months ago. Doesn't matter what the graphical settings are. Not a problem in other games.

The egg is ridiculously good. Playing around my egg? Ok well I'll taunt it. Now play around it. Not playing around my egg? Have a 4/4 in your face! Trying to clear my board? Now there are more minions than when you started.
people seem pretty good at playing around the egg, at least in the rank 11-12 range
You really can't play around it, either they're going to give it attack or taunt or it's going to die to aoe. I guess everyone is going to have to just stuff their decks with silences

Servers are getting hammered.
Every single time I've played for the past month?
it's not HS, it's you
It actually is Hearthstone. Like I said, I don't have any other games which have this problem.
Hypothesis: At some point, Hearthstone started trying to load animations from disk on the fly. I'm guessing that it doesn't preload them from my HD far enough in advance. My HD was defragged, but it's still your average spinning rust.
I just moved the game to my SSD. In-game performance has improved substantially.
Huh, the heroics are actually really easy. 1 shot Anub with my un modified paladin ranked deck, then 1 shot grand widow with my aggro rogue deck - only slightly altered to include more 1 drops and 2 questing adventurers.

Haha, just threw together a Zoolock deck with 2 Mana Wraiths and 2 Nerub'ar Weblords.
Had a lucky draw:
Void Walker on Turn 1, Mana Wraith on turn 2, Weblord on 3...
Coin -> Egg and turn 2 Sunfury Protector is brutal, btw. Have owl or get waaaaay behind.
Also dumb way to beat Heroic Maexxna. Kill the Sea Giants with Hex/Poly/Assassinate/whatever. Then Geddon + Earthen Ring Farseer every turn as soon as you hit 10 mana. It'll even make the board all pretty.

It was too laggy for me to play last night, but I did manage to get through the second boss before the lag became unbearable. Had to switch gears to Zoo for the chick since those missiles kept fucking my shit up. I am a big fan of this expansion thus far, and the promise of what could come later is even more exciting.

took me so long to figure out i could make myself invincible vs the spider by filling her board with 1 attack minions and then alternating between alex+voodoo doctor and keeper+ironforce rifleman every turn to chip away at her
Ended up getting through normal in the first wing with aggro mage. Faerlina was just silly as she'd coin to use her hero power, and then use it every turn thereafter to clear my board and ping me. Took me until turn 4-5 to be able to get minions down and stabilize and then I was able to go to town on her.
Boy did I give up fast trying to beat those heroic bosses. Way above my pay grade.
I guess all the new deathrattle minions (especially eggs) are party of an effort to counter board clearing. The 3rd spider boss had me going to my mage and low damage freezing spells.
Expect to see a pair of owls in every single deck for quite a while.
Egg is awesome, thankfully I'm the only person who's actually doing the Mass Dispel Priest everyone was talking about.
Still tweaking the deck, but it's basically a Miracle Priest that draws into Velen + Mind Blast x 2. Super inconsistent so far. But it's fun to play around with.
No fucking way I'm going to try ranked with my Aggro Warrior now. Zoo is everywhere and it's one of the hardest matchups.
I know I'm probably posting from a place of anger right now but is there a deck cost I'm supposed to have spent to play the new single player stuff?
I play largely a control priest and a zoo warlock and I can't even remotely get close to beating Anub. On normal. At all.
By turn 3 he has that 2/8 taunt minion out and he just summons the 3/1 spiders and then literally just trades until my deck runs out. I'm not even sure from a meta point of view HOW to stop it. I've played against people online and gotten destroyed and I've never been half as frustrated as I am right now.
Have you considered throwing together a mage deck? 3/1s are completely irrelevent to even a mediocre Mage deck.
I one-shotted all three missions with mage, rogue, rogue respectively, as someone who has played enough arena to have a good selection of cards but has never crafted anything and doesn't have especially meta decks. I don't even remember what's in the mage deck. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I don't think they're very hard if you make a token effort to build and play around the hero power (mage for the first battle, something aggressive that keeps hand sizes low-ish for the second, and something with a preference for cheap battlecries for the third).
Thank you for the advice! I was assuming this kind of thing would be a one-size-fits-all situation but maybe I'll play with some newer characters and see if I fare any better.
Definitely want different decks for different bosses, IMHO. As noted, mages are hilarious vs. normal Anub'Arak.
Yeah, I used my mage aggro deck : arcane missiles, knife jugglers, elven archers, and if course the mage hero power counters anubs.
On faerlina I used my shockadin deck, which dumps its hand very early.
On maexxna I used warrior face deck with charge minions, tadkmasters, weaponsmiths, faerie dragons, weapons.
Off hand I dont know that priest would be my first choice against any of the first bosses.
Beat heroic Maexxna using a Mage deck.
Used lots of freeze stall, with Alex + fireballs to finish.
Hardest part was waiting for the stupid RNG to actually let me draw Alex, took 3 or 4 games in a row.

Right, but you have to draw those. It's a functional combo, but against Faerlina and her hero power, holding cards isn't a great idea.
Like I said, I certainly wasn't playing my best, but the deck has some significant limitations and Faerlina's strengths are built to exploit those. I'm not used to thinking that way in this game where everyone usually plays by the same rules.
