Burning MP3 CDs

So were trying to make an MP3 CD with some folders so we can orgonize everything by the artists.
We managed to burn a CD with iTunes but I can't seem to figure out how to make the seperate play lists. I downloaded realplayer but it's MP3 burning(which apperantly does do folders) is locked for the premium version.

I should be able to just burn a data CD right? With folders? I just need to arrange some playlist files the right way. I've been googling around but nothing seems very concrete.

I would think it depends on the device you're going to be using it on. My car stereo and a bookshelf stereo I have play mp3 CDs, but they don't care if there are playlists on the discs or not - they only look at the folder structure, with each folder being interpreted as a separate "disc". If the folders are nested, the nesting is flattened.

Yep, you'll be burning a "data CD" with MP3 files, arranged however you want. A data CD is usually an ISO 9660 format disc, but can also be UDF, a format which allows for long filenames and lots of nested directories. If you burn a UDF disc of MP3s you'll probably have a tough time finding consumer electronics smart enough to play it.

Be aware there is no industry standard format for an "mp3 cd" -- I have a Toshiba DVD player for example which can play a CD-R with MP3s on it, but if you put them in folders, it screws up. The support for MP3s on CD-R in DVD players and car stereos varies by model, but hopefully they're better these days than they were a few years ago. Some can read ID3 tags, so you'll really benefit by making sure all the tracks have correct ID3 tag information.

You mean a folder with in a folder right?

    Anyway,
Hmm - we'll were using a Roxio trail right now. Taking forever as we're reripping all his CDs. Everything on his iTunes was whatever else. I guess we'll try a regular data CD when this trial runs out.

Guess we'll look into his CD players manual. Thanks.

Edit: Hmm another response - sounds like everything sure is differant then. Guess we'll find the manual then, heh.
