As much as I'd like a Zelda centered game or a female link, no amount of social progress is worth the sheer goosery of trying to work out theories of continuity for the Zelda franchise.
Look, all I'll say is that as soon as Nintendo introduced the official time-line that had "failure" as a branch of time which isn't possible (it's an alternate dimension) anything goes with Zelda as a franchise.
Don't have the link, but someone said on Twitter that the Starfox thing is a prototype cooked up by Nintendo that they want to hand over to another company to finish.

My heart skipped a beat for a second when link removed the tunic. I also thought they were going with the female character reveal.
I still would prefer a game where Zelda is the main character instead of just making a female Link. Granted, the game's "canon" does technically make all the protagonists Link's descendants/ancestors, but I still consider Link his own character and not an interchangeable avatar. Either do a game with Zelda as a lead or a girl who was trained by an older Link.
That's my current stance, and it could change. There is some appeal to a girl taking up the mantle of "Link" just as like in Fire Emblem Awakening. I just think having Zelda be the star of her own titular series would be neater.
Armored Fencer Zelda (along with Midna) turned Hyrule Warrior's into a must-buy for me.
Gonna strongly disagree. Link is a different physical person in each game (a few rare exceptions, but you get the idea :P ), there's no reason he needs to always be male. I think it's only halfway progress if Zelda is the main character, because it's still admitting that Link has to be male.
Link is the main character and hero of the series, that's not going to be changing. Making someone else the hero for one game and making that character female is nice, but also kind of a cop-out.
But we can agree to disagree, since it's not really important. Looks like there are some cool female characters in Hyrule Warriors, super excited to play that! I hope Midna is fun, she's one of the best sidekicks. I wonder if they'll release any more info about that later today...
I don't know if this was ever confirmed or just typical fan theory, but it was always my understanding that Link and Zelda are basically "reincarnated", or at least part of their essence or something. Skyward Sword kind of strengthened this idea with
Demise, who isn't Ganon but clearly reincarnated as Ganon....or something
It's all hokey anyway and they could just say "fuck it", but by that logic couldn't we also get a male Zelda?
I personally like the Zelda lead idea better. I got all giddy from that Hyrule Warriors footage, especially Zelda opening up the chest. Clearly someone at Nintendo likes the idea as well.
But the story hook is built in. Skyward Sword Spoilers:
Gannon does something to interfere with the cycle, and Link is not re-incarnated. As a side effect, this generation's Zelda ends up in possession of the Triforce of Courage (or, hell, both it AND Wisdom) and has to quest to undo the seals that Gannon has set to save the world and ensure the Hero is born again for future crises.
The gods clearly dont like waiting given the last time Link didnt show up

It's Nintendo just keeping on streaming. Treehouse is the translation and localisation wing of NoA and they're doing the showing and the playing and whatnot.
Treehouse is a division of Nintendo of America that works directly with game developers in localizing games. They are having Treehouse employees show off game demos during E3 in these streams.
