The sniper rifle is weird to me because it doesn't seem to actually go that far, even fully charged.
When I used it it felt almost better to treat it like a shotgun with a very narrow spread. Charge, walk around the corner, and instagib the person in front of you. Maybe I'll get a better feel for it when the next stress test happens.
A snipers can get around real quick and work like scouts. Shoot a straight line in front of you when the game starts and help you and your mates get to the centre quick while a roller squid stays behind to quickly paint the start. As a sniper find a high spot and draw lines to the opponents start or a desirable spot that's not occupied and shoot lines to get there. Make sure your team mates can use the lines as well and hope they big jump to you when you are in a good spot, while you take out any enemies that try to enter the area.

The Snipers range isn't great when compared to other shooters, but it's way farther than any of the other weapons so you can hit someone way before they can hit you.
Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed. Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration. - Lincoln
Find a nice high ground spot in the middle of the map.
Wait. The sniper rifle's range isn't super long, so you have to let the enemy come to you. But since the middle of the map is always contested, that won't take long.
Ink squids.
If the enemy starts targeting you, hide in the ink. This will make them think they've killed you, and they'll resume engaging with your teammates.

Alternatively, they're smart and paint balloon your spot, inking it, forcing you out, and shooting you.
What exactly is the difference between the Splattershot and the Splattershot Jr.?
The Splattershot Jr. has short range and a wide spread. This makes it easy to hit people as long as you can get close enough, and it's better for quickly painting a wide area.
The regular Splattershot has longer range and a narrower spread. It takes a lot more work to be accurate with it (especially since taking advantage of the range means having a really good feel for the arc), but the range can give you an advantage in combat if you can pull it off. I think it probably ends up a bit worse for territory control no matter how good you are at aiming, though.
Well the direct showed that one sniper rifle that had a longer charge time but a larger range.

So, if you buy the game digitally I mean I assume it's like a one time thing, you download it and it's on the wii u and if it got broken or whatever I'd lose it. On the other hand if I buy the game physically I am now reliant on the disc not accidentally getting scratched or anything.

That's an easy situation to deal with. As soon as you see the balloons coming toward you, go squid and jump backwards, behind your spot where they can't see you. Shoot the air just above your spot to re-ink it, then climb back onto it again. By the time you've done that, the balloonist will have doubtlessly lost interest and you can resume your killing spree.

You can throw multiple balloons on a single tank, so I'm not sure you'd be alive to do that.

The balloons have to actually get to you before they can hurt you. It isn't difficult to notice a bunch of white balls flying through the air and take appropriate measures to avoid them.

Well, the idea is they either hit or force you off the spot. Though I suppose it depends on terrain.
The feeling of being unable to aim precisely with the control stick, was that just me, the game, or the Wii U control stick? Like, it feels like the minimum amount of movement is too high
(I think the proper explanation might be that the "deadzone" is too large)
I'm going to use the motion controls anyway, but now I'm curious
I hope the control options in this demo is not final and you get more things to tweak in the full game. I want to be able to have full x and y-axis movement on the right analog while still having the motion controls on. Regular looking with the right stick with fine aim adjustments with motion would be perfect.
Only on flat surfaces and when they are in front of you. Either shoot at their feet, take some height, or squid around them.

I wonder how high the paintbrush will be able to fling paint.
Would you guys like it if, hypothetically, they eventually added cosmetics based on their other franchises? I myself wouldn't mind rolling out in a team-colored Link hat, for example.
Weird. I won almost all of my matches when I was using the roller and lost almost all of them with the charge rifle but I was still always in the top two places on my team with both.
I think people don't realize how good the paint flick ability with the roller is. Had quite a few games with more than 7 splats because people couldn't deal with the jump and flick.

People are already starting to figure out the paint roller. Having more than 1 on a team seems to be a liability. All you gotta do is shoot around their feet or use your paint balloons to quickly neutralize them. I only really get killed by them now when they surprise me.
My favorite combo in the test fire actually ended up being the super soaker and balloon combo. Getting the super weapon and just going to town on an area with 20 paint balloons is so satisfying.

It seems like a deliberate sabotage of the right stick against people who play FPS games regularly though...
