I guess I imagined that then. Ah well, I'll still probably pre-order it soon anyway, since I know I'll want to play it when it comes out.

Has this been posted? Has the first few levels and the first boss apparently, so spoilers for anyone watching it but a good look at single player early on for anyone who wants to watch it, (I admittedly have not)

I'd been trying to decide between wii u or PS4 at the moment, and had pretty much decided on picking up a PS4 for Arkham Knight and grabbing a Wii U for Zelda next year before I started seeing all the Splatoon hype.
I'm now thinking I'll bite the bullet and get both. The $50 interest it'll accrue on the card will be more than made up for by playing Splatoon before people start getting godly at it.

You can find killer deals on WiiU games sometimes too - I have like 20 games all brand new for under 9 bucks. I have only paid full price for Mario Kart and it came with a free game at that time. Ps4 is in a release drought for summer, you'll be able to catch up on games no problem in a year.

So, Splatoon's digital version doesn't require an external hard-drive unless you don't have room on your Wii U right? Because I don't have the money for both an external drive and Splatoon.

Huh. Maybe I should cancel my pre-order with Amazon and go digital.

I know! It just mentions on the page it might require an external hard drive and I thought it might somehow require it despite me having more than enough size.

That's just their default warning they give to anything over 1 gig in size.
I think the only game that is categorically bigger than any Wii U's default hard drive may be Xenoblade X.

Well now I've finally bitten the bullet and pre-ordered this game. I might have just waited till it comes out if not for two factors 1! Because I've already played it for two hours and know I'll definitely enjoy it 2! Because I know for a lot of games the amount of money it makes in pre-orders and launch week can be very important for how successful the game is seen as being and I know I'll love this game and want to see them do more with this IP.

Lots of spoilery things are surfacing for Splatoon now that review copies are out. Learning what all the abilities are, what they do, some story mode stuff, etc.
Here's a previously unheard music track (I believe):

That's the same track that played for all my Testfire rounds, AFAIK. That frequent "dip" into and out of his own ink seems to be working waaaaay better than emptying and fully recharging like I had been. I don't think he runs out at any point in the video. I had kind of assumed that the re-fill would be faster if you emptied the tank to encourage you to actually empty it, but I guess not.
or it could be like a heavy machine gun in games, where you are most efficient pushing the red line without going over or else you have to cool off completely before shooting again.
that would be a curious thing to test, but it'd be notoriously hard to do. I don't think there is much difference. With the roller I got good enough to know how much yardage I could cover with a full tank, and I would use the refill time to take stock of my surroundings and see if I should roll towards an enemy or continue what I was doing.
range weapons let you fire ahead and move ahead while refilling, i find refilling using the roller harder since unless you're doing a lot of paint splatting you're painting behind you, not in front. That said I usually used it to practice feinting or just choosing a different direction to go (most of the time)
Dive/Shoot makes a ton of sense due to the way the game mechanics work. Diving/Squidding makes you faster, smaller/harder to hit, allows wall climbing, and refills your ammo, at the sole cost of not being able to shoot. Thus, at any point you're not shooting, you should probably be diving/squidding. In fact, the fastest way around a level(outside the super jump mechanic) is using range weapons to paint a path in front of you, squidding to the edge of the path, repeat.
I've been hesitant to pre-order, not because I'm not getting the game (I already bought the amiibo 3-pack, so I'm locked in), but because I feel a little bitter about paying more than the other regions. I wonder if there will be any day-1 sales.
What's the deal with the pricing, anyway? It's very unusual for NA to pay more, and I can't understand why this game is different.

There's no reason why it should require an external drive. According to this site, it's only 1.8 gigs too! That's crazy small.

Pretty sure Smash Bros. won't fit if you got one of the basic models (which I don't think they sell anymore), its a pretty big game.

Glad I'm getting the amiibos then. I think I'm the only one that found squid Jump boring.
