Cool, I didn't get much of a chance to play last time (missed Friday, wasn't getting up at 6am, and got home about 30 mins into the last time, so only a handful of games... Luckily they go pretty fast so I got a decent amount in in that time)
I think I've decided to go digital with Splatoon. It really seems like a game to kill 20 minutes (or 2 hours) with. No disc swapping would facilitate that.

So it seems like there are a good number of options for all the customization stuff and the maps, but I'm hoping over time they'll add more of that stuff (and I really hope you won't necessarily have to pay to put like, new hats or shoes in your game)

I got booted from logging on once and booted from matchmaking once. Both times they just kicked me back to the previous screen and it worked like a charm the 2nd time.
My kids are all amped up for Splatoon now. They watched the whole Splatoon direct video and the Nintendo one where they play single player.
Will this have splitscreen local Multiplayer?

There's one local multiplayer thing (that I haven't really seen and don't know how it works) that is 1v1, but otherwise no.

Played 7 games, only one time the inktsplatters lagged behind a few seconds so I was not able to climb a wall as fast as I wanted. After a few seconds the inkt appeared and after that all was well.

I get the sense that the reason they do this is because they expect players to be wearing hats 100% of the time, what with the associated stat boosts.

GameXplain mentioned during their Q&A that regular amiibo did nothing. Who knows if that will change in the future though.

Probably possibly the Nintendo VC game demo thing, where you scan any amiibo and it unlocks a random game for you to demo.
They'll probably work for anything that has an "all the other amiibos" reward like Hyrule Warriors
