You know, I just realized that with Hickman's run ending pretty soon, it's likely we're not going to see any real details of the Black Priests and Ivory Kings like we did for the Mapmakers. I suppose they'll be plot points left around for other writers to play with. A shame, really. I like creator-owned universes that really get lots of time to be fleshed out.

We still got 7 months to go. Plenty of time to delve into their deal.
Though we saw hints of their origins in New Avengers, what with that Dr. Fate analog wielding one of their helmets.

Talking about status quo and resets. Dark Rein and Superior were pretty darn cool
I've never been a fan of whenever DC tries it (Reign of the Supermen being the only one I've liked), but I've got to admit Marvel does it rather well (Age of Apocalypse, 2099, Annihilation, Dark Reign and Superior Spider-Man being the highlights). Of course I don't want another Heroes Reborn, but I think Marvel/Disney realizes that the average Marvel comic book is almost incomprehensible to new readers coming in from the movies. I'm not sure if they'll go full blown Nu52 and do a permanent line-wide wipe, but I can see them doing something like that for a year or two
EDIT: As an example, if you show a casual reader that Secret Wars cover and ask them who's on it, they might get 10% correct with some luck. Hell, you ask an average reader and they probably won't get 50%

What
Marvel just did a huge line-wide relaunch with the express purpose of being very new reader friendly like a year and a half ago

and it was incredibly well recieved
That's been Marvel's MO since Civil War. Every two to three years they do a linewide relaunch as a jumping on point for new readers. They get a large spike in sales across the board which slowly shrink over the next two to three years at which point they relaunch again. They've kind of become masters of it over the last decade or so. I think its incredibly unlikely that we get a reboot ala Nu52 from Marvel, but highly likely that right around Avengers 2, a huge Marvel event ends and we get new Number 1s across the board.

All the evidence shows Marvel won, DC lost with their 2011 reboot. Why they would try and do something like a reboot makes no sense. In fact, Marvel is so far ahead right now when gimmick covers aren't involved that I'm worried they're not actually doing the best they can and just goofing off in certain areas of their publishing line.
Hickman knows what he's doing, and this probably destroys any sort of multiverse Marvel has to make it even cleaner (which I approve of), or he's going to actually fix the time problem or they'll let him be the one to kill the Ultimate Universe off.
So I finally got through Inferno on the Uncanny X-Men readthrough I've been doing on Marvel Unlimited
I tell you what, it really feels like the 80s dies right there with Madelyne Pryor and the 90s is born with Mister Sinister
the X-Men go from fighting a character with actual human motivations to a ridiculous overly-stylized "evil mastermind" who spends half his page-time needlessly retconning tons of history and is able to hold off all the X-Men with his vaguely defined powers until suddenly Cyclops is able to vaporize him for no adequately explained reason

To be fair, Claremont's original concept for Mister Sinister wasn't half bad. It's a pity he never got to implement it.
Was he still wearing pixie shoes over thigh-high boots with a weird metal bodysuit and a cape made of ribbons?
That he and Gambit were both created by a kid in a foster home with mutant powers to be a "cool" hero and a "cool" villain.
So, they were stupid because the kid's ideas were stupid, not just because they were stupid.
At least, if memory serves that's how it went.
I don't recall Gambit being part of it, but yeah. Sinister's name, appearance, and mannerisms were all supposed to seem like a child's idea of a scary villain because he was in fact created by a child.

I'm not gonna lie, that premise sounds amazing. I would read a book with that premise, with the characters coming to terms with things after discovering the truth.
Lowe made it official: "Spider-Gwen" #1, a new ongoing series featuring the Gwen Stacy version of Spider-Man from "Edge of Spider-Verse" #2, will launch in February 2015 with the creative team of Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez.
Latour said the series will detail what happens to Gwen Stacy's personal life as she adjusts to life as a costumed hero. "For her father, he didn't quite give her the great power equals great responsibility speech, but he essentially gave that speech, and now he has to be put to the test," Latour said. "Both of those characters will challenge each other's assertions. The writer also said "the Mary Janes are still around," the band from the story.
They've finally decided to go into syndication. Read reprints of 50 years worth of comics, all while half-watching whatever rerun of Seinfeld or Friends is on.
One of the things Bendis said in a recent interview is that time and dimensional barriers are breaking down all through the Marvel Universe, and its been planned out since Hickman gave his pitch for Avengers back when he was still writing Fantastic Four. I have a feeling that every major event in Marvel history (616 or not) is going to get pulled into the Secret Wars event, and they'll use it to retcon a whole bunch of stuff at once, giving the whole Marvel Universe a One More Day treatment.

Yeah it's a Secret Wars/Time Runs Out thing.
But it sort of looks like Cap is wanting to throw Spidey under the proverbial time bus, that's what he does to people who don't bow down to him!
I'm kind of expecting a Marvel Now type marketing initiative to follow after the big 2015 event. They need something to boost sales and a soft reboot in the Marvel Now vein would make sense, especially taking into account the hints given by the PR guys.

I think you're right, and I'm wondering what they'll do during the year Secret Wars is running. Will they be publishing the regular monthlies concurrently to the event, with missing characters, or will they all be skipping ahead like Spider-Man did back in the day? I'm really psyched to see how this all goes down.

There will be tie ins, there was some interview I read with Bendis saying that Uncanny X-Men would have a tie in for it
"Ride or Die?" asked Goku
"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic
Oh my god how can Axis #1 actually be this terrible
Are they serious with this Red Onslaught thing
He's a raid boss now?
Uncanny Avengers #25 made it seem almost interesting. And I've always actually liked Onslaught as a villain - the Onslaught storyline was the first major marvel crossover event that I was serious about collecting. This incarnation of him, origin wise, is interesting... having him emerge from that explosion in the form he did was super creepy and bizarre in light of everything leading up to this.
But yeah... can't say AXIS #1 was able to follow up on that in a positive way, and the ending of #1 was pretty lame and underwhelming.
Skull trying to use Wanda to change reality was kind've cool - I almost feel like all this would've been better as a climax rather than an opening act. Spend much more time building up to a final confrontation with the Skull, get a chance to build up to this huge battle. Having regular Skull get his ass kicked and then resort to Sentinels would've made things seem less ho hum.
AXIS 1 had a ton of problems, but I still have hope for it overall. Remender has had a pretty awful time managing the classic Avengers, and he seems to have no idea what to do with them beyond making them banter really poorly. It isn't just in AXIS, either, but it's also been a big problem in the last few issues of Cap. It was a letdown, because Uncanny Avengers 25 felt like the book was finally back on track after stalling out in the wake of the showdown with Kang.
Another part of it is that Kubert's art and whoever is doing the colors make it look really upbeat and cartoony in comparison to Uncanny Avengers, which was really hard for me to get past.

This is my guess. Bringing in some of these extra characters, or allowing Marvel to run a general "multiverse" line as a catch-all for Miles, etc.

Just a teaser image sent today. I was going to guess 10th year anniversary of it but it was an 06-07 event.
Maybe some sort of alt verse thing where some of the characters from that alt verse are in the Hickman Secret Wars

It really is going to be Countdown / Infinite Crisis / Crisis on Infinite Earths "done right"
That doesn't make sense
If the Civil War one was Marvel Zombies related it would have said Civil War vs. Marvel Zombies
It is more likely tying into Secret Wars and having different realities crash into each other
Marvel 2 vs Earth X
That's all I ask
