Ultimate Reed is still his evil self, and has killed 67 earths without anyone knowing, and on top of that in the 616 world Gladiator and all the Infinity allies realize Earth has to die to save the universe.
Good stuff.
I haven't read any of the newer stuff, why does
Ultimate Fury think Ultimate Reed is a good guy now? What happened in the Ultimates where everyone accepts Reed again?

There was this whole thing in the last Ultimates and Ultimate FF books
where Reed and his 'Dark Ultimates' were gathering Infinity Gems, and it was revealed that Reed was influenced to become evil by Ultimate Kang (aka Future Ultimate Susan Storm).
For a time afterwards in Ultimate FF, Reed was doing science on the quiet and working towards the betterment of humanity and trying not to be quite so evil.

Didn't he help stop Galactus during Cataclysm?
Oh right. I guess he also saved the world or whatever, bwuh.
Don't know why I forgot Cataclysm, the part where he meets 616 Valeria and then comes back and mentions it to Ultimate Sue was probably the best part of that story. That works as a believable turning point for him too, better than 'I was brainwashed by my evil future girlfriend' - I guess I only remember the really lame bits of his character arc.

Ultimates payed no attention to the character growth of the past five years and actively regressed a few key members. It also massively retconned one of the better Ultimate stories for an unsatisfying payoff.

The problem I have with books like this is they tend to end up being like this club exclusively for people of this type...kinda defeats the purpose of equality when you take for instance a group of characters including a few gay/bi people and by the end of the book every single one of them is revealed to be gay or bi (Young avengers). It's not equality or empowering, its segregation. Giving a book an all women or all gay theme in the environment comics are in right now basically sounds like a massive cop out to try and make them seem less sexist...they can point at it as a foil for every cover they put out that has a woman's ass in two different time zones everytime she climbs a building.

Did Captain Universe die or something? Feels weird to bring in a new cosmically aware being when we already have one out there who seemed prime for building on.
I'll wait and see on the book, Nico showing up is really good to see and Wilson's Ms. Marvel has been better than I expected and maybe this will read better than DeConnick's Avengers stuff (her Marvel work just hasn't clicked like her other work), but an all-female team does seem a bit forced, and the only Avengers team that should have Force in the name is Force Works, right? Right!

Well, Captain Universe's powers are tied directly to the universe, which kinda blowed up. (You can see her lose her powers when she leaves the 616 dimension).

Kate Bishop was neither gay or bi.
Were Miss America or Kid Loki gay or bi? It's been a while since I've read YA.
Either way, I'm okay with it...in part, because I find most of those characters on the A-Force cover more interesting than many other characters that get their own solo books. I'd rather have a book with an all-female/diverse cast, instead of "bunch of straight white dudes + one woman," that most teams are these days.

I dunno, there are soooo many male dominated Marvel/DC comics (and more male writers/artists) that I'm glad an all-female team book at least gets an obligatory run. Marvel has been getting better with using their female characters and using more female talentlately, which is a good thing IMO
The real question for me is whether it'll be a "real" Avengers team of any consequence or if it'll end up like the Uncanny Avengers, kind of stuck over on the side.

Miss America hails from an all female dimension which granted wouldn't make her Gay for sure but yeah she is totally gay.

As for America Chavez, the only record I can find of her being involved with someone else is Ultimate Nullifier (a dude).
actually the last issue he kinda made a pass at one of the guy members, mentioning something about how he was technically the god of sex in the norse parthanon and that gender means nothing to a shapeshifter. If i recall correctly he was pretending to be a horse, got fucked and had a colt as a result in one of the tales.

Loki in the comics spent an entire year as a lady. In Young Avengers, he mentioned that his concept of sexuality is fluid.
Miss America outright said she tried it, didn't like it.
Prodigy is working with the memories and skills of every X-Man ever, which shifted him from his previously straight sexuality (outwardly).
So:
Loki - Will screw anything
Miss America - Gay
Wiccan - Gay
Hulking - Gay
Prodigy - Bi-sexual
Marvel Boy - Up for whatever, but his choices all lean straight.
Hawkeye - Straight
Speed - Straight
For the most point, the sexuality of the Young Avengers makes story sense.
I was going to post that, but I couldn't find the X-Men thread and lost interest. Sad to see Bendis go.
i'm not. maybe GotG will get good now.
He's leaving X-Men, not GotG.
He also just doubled down with 'Guardians Team-Up', the new GotG ongoing, that'll feature other writers sporadically, but I don't think they've revealed post-Secret Wars plans for GotG yet. He hasn't mentioned leaving GotG in interviews yet though, just X-Men. With his new exclusive deal I think he can pretty much do whatever he wants to do at Marvel
You should probably stop reading Avengers/New Avengers then.
Nah. The books never get as impressionistic as they did during Infinity. I just did a big reread of the two, and things get really weird during that crossover. It's not just that you are getting stories that take place during a crossover. It's like Marvel's playing panel jumble where you need to have six books side by side to follow any of the stories.
After Infinity ends, both Avengers and New Avengers go on to tell complete and satisfying stories contained within each issue, or at least stretched across multiple issues of the same book. They cross over quite a bit the closer you get to the current book, but there's never that feeling of "I have no idea what is going on" that I got with Infinity.

Other than the Original Sin issues Bendis has done a fine job with GotG.
His GOTG had been ok, outside of the first arc it was very decompressed and felt like everything stopped prematurely because no one told him anything like what Tony was gonna be up to with Hickman being the MU pilot, but that OS story was a big thing that needed to land right since it was Bendis who brought Quill and Drax and Thanos back with no mention two years earlier. And it just fell on its face so badly.
For instance, I gave up on DC giving any real reason for Babs walking again, because I just stopped caring about DC, so even if they addressed it now I just don't care.
But with GOTG being released in theaters and such a big push, maybe this time they would have gotten it right because they knew they had to really bridge DnA's great run with the future and making Thanos the big bad again. And it just turned into a one issue stretched to three mess.

Honestly, it feels like the two plots in this event could have just been split into 2 books, instead of 3.
Anyway, I'm glad I'm finally through with this event. This format of storytelling is just not for me and I hope to never experience it ever again.
I'll continue Avengers and New Avengers though, at least until they pull this shit again.
