I do like the story of Kevin Smith going throygh the trouble of filming something for Prince (a music video, I think) and when it's done Prince just files it away into his vault.
On September 14, 2007, Prince announced that he was going to sue YouTube and eBay because they "are clearly able [to] filter porn and pedophile material but appear to choose not to filter out the unauthorized music and film content which is core to their business success." Web Sheriff, the international Internet policing company he hired, told Reuters: "The problem is that one can reduce it to zero and then the next day there will be 100 or 500 or whatever. This carries on ad nauseam at Prince's expense."
So yeah.
I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!!!

did we have this conversation about Prince like, a week ago
because I'm having an impressively strong case of deja vu right now

it's kind of disorienting
Every 3-4 years the Weird Al thread reappears and everybody busts out their sweet Weird Al Trivia Facts about Prince, Coolio, Mark Mothersbaugh, et al.
It's a time-honored tradition that I fear will be destroyed by his abandonment of the traditional album.
The only parody suggestion Weird Al has ever taken was when Madonna herself suggested Like A Surgeon!
I think girls just wanna have lunch was also a suggestion
At the very least, al had no interest in parodying that song and his record label twisted his arm. He might've come up with the premise for the parody though I don't remember

Weird Al was kind if doing "random" humor before it became cliche, and he's always had a really particular sort of approach to that kind of thing that's just, I dunno, really evocative of the stuff he made that made me laugh as a kid
The lyrics remind me of songs like Everything You Know Is Wrong and Stuck in a Closet With Vanna White
Plus I think it's funny to squeeze all this dumb crap into the form of a song that sounds like the singer is coming from a place of really powerful emotional intensity
When my brother and I were small Weird Al's music was one of the few things that we always bonded over.
We would sit in the backseat the car and sing his parodies loudly over the radio originals. My mother told me a few years ago that she always complained and grumbled at us so that we would keep going because she figured out if she laughed and told us she thought it was funny we would never do it again.

Yeah, I really appreciated that joke.
I'm sure his roving C&D YouTube lawyers will take the vid down out of spite.
I think the line was don't use numbers in your name, unless you're seven, or your name is prince
something like that.
write words with numbers
unless you're seven
or your name is Prince
Also Prince also claimed the internet is 'over', so.
Prince never has given him permission to parody his work.
Haha, what a weird dude Prince is.
Also, secret Simpsons reference at 1:59 hooray
So yeah.

Michelangelo's rap was great and I loved him dropping down like that.
That guy is from smosh
The guests they get always do a very good job
It's not one of their better raps but Jenna Marbles on Adam Vs Eve did a fantastic job

Second Fun Fact: I'm wicked old.
If that's true, it shows.
