At some point in the next few weeks I will get tired of Jackson Park Express

I feel like Inactive mimics the original a little too closely and suffers for it comedically
A lot of times when a song has slightly hard to understand lyrics the weird al version's vocal track will be more distinct, since half the fun is hearing the silly words
Lots of Inactive though is garbled to the point where I can't tell what the hell he's saying
I'm chewing on Word Crimes and Tacky, and I don't think I really like them. Tacky is okay, but I can only tolerate listening to it once. I think the video is better than the song.
Is the rest of the album different? If I'm not listening to today's pop music for one reason or the other, will I still find something to love here?

Just listen to it on Spotify
It's basically impossible to say whether stuff is "different" or not, since that's hella vague, and we don't really know which parts of those two songs bugged ya. Just spend the forty minutes (or less, if you skip tracks that aren't clicking) and listen to it yourself.
It ain't like it's a huge, impossible time investment.
I haven't made any real plans beyond the release of my current album, but since everybody's asking... I'll probably just be releasing singles (possibly EPs) going forward - I really don't think the album format is the most efficient or intelligent way for me to distribute my music anymore. I highly doubt that I would sign with another label. I guess I might be open to a distribution deal, but... we'll see. Anyway, I certainly wouldn't want to have my releases on any kind of a schedule - that would be too much pressure, and it might actually start to feel like a JOB!
Sorry to say, I'm not sure if there will be another recorded polka medley after the one on the new album. They are a lot of work to put together (mostly for my manager, who has to deal with stacks of paperwork each time). But I think the polka medley will always be a part of the live show, so maybe it will just continue to evolve over time. This is all conjecture, of course... I have NO IDEA what I'm doing next.

Q: Person surprised there wasn't a parody of Let It Go on the album...
A: You know what, I was very close to doing a parody called "Make It So" about ST:TNG... but then I checked online, and of course, somebody had done that already. And apparently it had gotten enough attention online to make the Disney legal department ask them to take it down! I couldn't think of an idea that I liked as much as "Make It So," so... I gave up!
There are so many parodies of Let It Go that I feel like it was for that the best that he didn't go for the low-hanging fruit.
Also, albums are kind of a weird artifact of our strange physical media past. Particularly for someone like Al, where you run the risk of your parody looking a bit outdated by the time you finally get your album out. Although losing the polka medleys absolutely sucks.
He has legal right to parody songs (although he gets permission as a professional courtesy), but medleys use the actual lyrics and require getting rights from a bunch of artists.
I mean, his style parodies are criminally underrated, but there'a nothing to stop him from continuing to do parodies.

For someone like Weird Al, where a big chunk of it relies on being current, sure.
Overall, nope. At least when done correctly, an album can be so much more than a collection of songs that happened to be thrown on a thing together. The notion of the album being 'outdated' feels like it buys into the idea of music as a disposable commodity rather than music as art, as something enduring, and that's just a really depressing thought.

There's a lot of great stuff he does live...
Laundry Day, Chicken Pot Pie, the super medleys where he throws together the "current" polka mix and his own stuff together...

No no, I think you're not off there.
What I really should have meant to say is that releasing albums as The Only Way To Music is an outdated concept since artists now have more options in content delivery.

It feels really short for the number of dudes in it. I felt like it needed to be longer.
It also didn't have many rhymes that made me go ooooooh shiiiiiiiiiit.
It's good, but I feel like they had way better raps this season.
But yes, the pageantry is pretty unimpeachable.
I thought this was Dave Grohl that said this?
For me it was
Chicken, goat, whatever.
And wear your skin over my own skin,
But not in a creepy way.

I'll see what pops up tomorrow.
Just listen to it on Spotify

So yeah, pretty much confirmed. I'm all for this.

So thanks for that, random Youtube person.

It might be the best Devo song and Devo didn't even write it

That escalated quickly.

There's something subtle about it that really clicks, and it gives Al a chance to really flex his music muscle.
Except for Sports Song, I liked every track
How is Alpocalypse? I somehow completely missed the existence of that album
Yep. The forum's less notable siblings, I suppose. Probably because we roll mainly in different sub-forums.

Skipper Dan is probably my favorite track. It is some of the darker humor he's done.
If you liked mandatory fun you'll like it
