Yeah, splitting an infinitive isn't actually a rule. And as I understand, dangling participles are not exactly hard and fast, either.
Speaking of absurd english "rules"...
"Never end a sentence with a preposition."
Hahahahahahaha no.
People cling to grammar rules they were taught in school like nothing else
Does teaching two spaces after a period count as a grammar rule, because maaaaaaaaan.
Nope, that counts as old-world typewriter bullshit.
But I want to shit all over it and this is as close to topical as it's going to get. Let me have this.
Yes Larlar, it counts as a grammar rule
I want to believe you're helping me in good faith but the absence of a period in your post suggests you could be using me to further the secret goals of a really boring conspiracy.

I double-space after periods due to years of habit which makes it just feel wrong to me otherwise. I ain't am not defending it though, because it really don't doesn't make no any sense.

I sure wish my teachers hadn't drilled this shit into my head back in the day. There's no way I'll be able to break it now after so many years of typing incorrectly and I hate it.

It's never too late to change. Bite down on this wire.
Nope I'll just take this bad habit to my grave and you'll have to deal with it! Schools don't teach it that way anymore, do they? I can die an old man and double spacing can be my "back in my day..."

They totally still do. More than a few teachers have even been documented insisting it's the right way to format text.
Until the 20th century, publishing houses and printers in many countries used additional space between sentences. There were exceptions to this traditional spacing method—some printers used spacing between sentences that was no wider than word spacing.[4] This was French spacing—a term synonymous with single-space sentence spacing until the late 20th century.[5] With the introduction of the typewriter in the late 19th century, typists used two spaces between sentences to mimic the style used by traditional typesetters.[6] While wide sentence spacing was phased out in the printing industry in the mid-twentieth century, the practice continued on typewriters[7] and later on computers.[8] Perhaps because of this, many modern sources now incorrectly[4] claim that wide spacing was created for the typewriter.[9]
Today the desired or correct sentence spacing is often debated. Many sources now say additional space is not necessary or desirable.[10] From around 1950, single sentence spacing became standard in books, magazines and newspapers.[11] However some sources still state that additional spacing is correct or acceptable. The debate continues,[4] notably on the World Wide Web—as many people use search engines to try to find what is correct.[12] Many people prefer double sentence spacing for informal use because that was how they were taught to type.[13] There is a debate on which convention is more readable, but the few recent direct studies conducted since 2002 have produced inconclusive results.[14]
Listened to this a couple times now, I like the album as a whole, but really don't like Lame Claim to Fame. It just got really predictable and monotonous to me. I chuckled at the 'first comment on a youtube video' one, but that was the only one that didn't fit the pattern. My Own Eyes kind of got this way a little as well, though not as bad.
Otherwise though, lots of classics on here. Word Crimes, Tacky, Mission Statement, I'll be listening to these for years.

Jackson Park Express is the hidden gem of the album.
Edit: and Sports Song. I could see college kids singing that one in the stands.

I think it's a perfect parody of sports songs, but there's not much too play off there and he does well with what there is.
It's definitely a song that will stick in my mind and will replace most fight songs. Obviously it's not as good as "Hail to the Victors," but that's a high bar.

Thought the Polka was kinda weak, which I blame on the current state of pop music
No
Its a holdover from how typewriters worked
And of course this was a featured article on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentence_spacing

Son of a bitch
Is it like
a big deal?
Because I don't know how easy that would be to change now
Like this sentence fragment originally was. far away from this one.

No, I very much doubt anyone will ever call you on it
So
that swerve it takes was very surprising now that I just watched the video
I got this image by typing "strippers" into Google, and it auto completed with "JFK and Stalin". Buncha nerds working at Google.
wouldn't you have to replace the other comma with a colon for the sentence to read that way

To my parents, Ayn Rand and God
Is it dedicated to four people or two (the author is claiming that Ayn Rand and God are their parents)?
Oxford commas can also cause ambiguity by their presence.
To my mother, Ayn Rand, and God
Does the comma mean it's dedicated to three people, or two, one of which is Ayn Rand who is also the writer's mother?
The police will literally drag you onto the street and shoot you in the head if you don't comply.
Oxford comma is for lists, just so you know.

That doesn't mean it's bad. It's just that there's so many good tracks to compete with.
