@NotoriusBEN So I was reviewing video I took of our last storm talon fight and I think I figured out what I was fucking up on. Apparently I was going full retard and mistiming my sprints and ended up eating a daze on his front cleave that kept slowing me enough for his static bullshit to kill me. We'll give it another go this week but Im confident we can down him
cool. I've been experimenting with some LAS stuff and picking up some more gear. I just hit #1 in dps in a siege of tempest run I did with Noiz, Jehtazi, Rhell, and a pug, so... /flex.

I got to level 15 last night and couldn't find a group for riot in the void and immediately had buyer's remorse for not being a tank I rerolled an engineer. Curse this altitis
New bg sounds tight, alsi there is a circle for bdh vet runs i dont know it off the top of my head.

So this is interesting, Warriors. Apparently the hubbub about a stealth Detonate nerf, due to its apparent inability to crit, is a big misunderstanding. As an AMP that is not an ability to be put on the bar, Detonate should never crit. People reading logs and finding instances of Detonates listed as crit was apparently because log readers were misinterpreting MoO Detonates as crits, when they were not. Shunn has tested this extensively and used a 100% crit trinket, which still does not confer crits to Detonate, in the prep for his DPS guide.
Finally have a day to play and I get an error that wildstar can't connect to the patch server... looked up solutions (flush the dns, run as admin, etc) and nothing works... anyone else having or have had this problem/found a solution?

I have had zero desire to log in today. I have just fallen off a cliff with Wildstar after the loss of so many people in BDH and my growing lack of interest in grinding my engineer past 30 to 50, mainly because I face the same gear grind and daily grind to gear her up for dungeon runs that I just did with Jazera. And I am kind of hesitant to try and jump ship to Revive and play with the PAers who have gone there Exile side.
the purgening is coming. alts under level 15 bot logged in for over 4 weeks or so, are going to be removed. soon.
I've also started a circle called PA Exiles, so if you deserters folks who went on to other pastures would still like to chat and want to group but not PUG, can communicate.

Maybe I've grown stubborn over the years but I'm not ready to throw in the towel. I think a large part of the problem is a lot of us are tired of the genre and totally don't want to admit they are tired of the genre. Another side of it, IMO, is I don't know who MMOs are really for anymore. I don't think the people making these types of games really do either.
Too much time gets wasted trying to define casual vs hardcore when I don't think there's any real difference in how many hours either one of those types of people play. It's just spread out different

Yeah. I totally don't want to admit I've spent years playing these games and I'm just tired of the same old grind and time allotment just to get to the fun when the fun should be all the time like in lots of other games that take orders of magnitude less time, money, focus and effort to produce and play. And it saddens me greatly since up until recently I had a lot of fun with Eisen and Tampax and the other PAers running adventures and dressing up my rocket house.
I don't think this genre is sustainable at all in this current design philosophy anymore. Maybe I just need to give it some time to catch up or something. At the very least I am going to take a break from Wildstar and see where it goes in the next little while.

Tanks and Healers: Don't be afraid to group with others in your own guild that aren't your usual tank/healer. I know people like to Batman and Robin it up in games with roles like that and I admit to being guilty of it as well.

I consider myself "casual". I don't raid. I don't PvP. I don't really have any interest whatsoever in PUGing group content. I basically play MMOs as a single-player game with general chat and a player-driven economy while OCCASIONALLY grouping up to do stuff(world bosses and whatforth).
However, on my days off, since I'm at home all day taking care of my Dad, I'm sometimes online for 6-10 hours. Hardly "casual" hours. Most of that time is spend dicking around not really accomplishing anything. I would love it if some MMO company added more stuff for people like me to do once they hit level cap. Blizzard had a decent idea with Scenarios, but go one step further and have Scenarios scale based on group size from 1-5, so a schlub like me could run them solo and maybe get a chance to get a gear upgrade every once in a while(I'm not saying drop super awesome epics line candy, but having a reward chest at the end like the Scorchwing chest that has a CHANCE to drop a solid piece of gear would be nice).
I've been playing WoW since launch. I got through the entirety of Cataclysm without ever once setting foot in a dungeon, raid, or battleground. With Mists I did a bit more(I think I've run maybe 3 of the new dungeons, and LFRed all the raids except ToT at least once). I'm fairly certain that I'm not the only one that plays this way.
Maybe I'm just playing MMOs wrong, but playing actual single-player RPGs is boring without general chat and the ability to do the occasional group content if I choose to.

Agreed.
Crafting gear and hoping to get the right special AND the right rune slots(even though Augmented Rune Fragments dont exist unless I wanna spend 10+ plat runing my gear) is quite annoying.
It wouldn't be so bad if crafting wasn't so expensive, I could afford to have a couple crap-crafts before getting a solid item that I could sell for profit. As it is, you're practically breaking even trying to get the stars to align properly and bequeath upon you a chest-plate that doesn't suck doggydongs.

I'm okay with it up to a point. And I think that point needs to fucking stop once you start hitting raids and getting gear that's going to be glued to your ass for a while. I'm hearing stories of people salvaging first kill epics with garbage rune slots that would have been upgrades otherwise. Something is wrong with that design when that happens. Like if I get a pair of boots that has anything other than air, earth, logic or life runes in them it's basically useless to me

Yeah, they need to make raid drops static. Engineer DPS boots(Heavy Boots with Finesse > Brutality)? Hope you like a lot of Fire and Logic runes with the occasional Air, Earth, or Life rune(Technophile: Fire, Logic, and Air. Weapons Specialist: Fire, Logic, and Earth. Assassin: Fire, Logic, and Life).
I mean, some of the other runes are OK, but for the set stuff? Those 5 rune types are your Go-To runes, as you likely want 12/12 in either Tech or WS and 12/12 in Ass(if you get MANY rune slots, try for 12/12 in all three!)
There's a public event called The Forgotten Trial of Tresayne. There's a little lake in Wilderrun south of the dungeon that has a bunch of 800khp elementals around it. You need to, I assume, kill them to disrupt the ritual they're working on. Maybe we could get a bunch of people together and do that for fun. When I was in the zone, I don't remember seeing anyone try to do it, so I'm not sure how many people have bothered to complete it.

I'm of the firm belief that WoW simply set a weird expectation for MMOs. I'm going to get 2 months of decent game time out of Wildstar at least. That's easily better than I get with most other game releases. I just hope that the game designers also realize that expecting the WoW years and years of stoic loyalty really isn't the bar to shoot for.
Another thing is that multiplayer and co-op have come a LONG way over the years. Being refined down into some very core gameplay. It feels like MMOs are still trying to throw absolutely everything in the pot and call it good. And funny enough, feature heavy is what we expect from MMOs. But then you'd hear people say, "Well, if I wanted 4 person co-op I'd play Borderlands" "If I wanted 5 player team PVP I'd play LoL or Dota". I'm just not sure what MMOs bring to the table anymore that isn't brought by other games in a more tight package.
But all this conjecture aside. I think Wildstar is a solid entry into the genre. Its fun, pretty, and surprisingly well written in some of the story. I've gotten a good deal of entertainment out of it. Not sure I can ask much more of a game.

There was originally some kind of plan to have technologist be able to reroll rune slots or something, but that plan got cut for some reason. I think there is still something in the works to allow players to modify rune slots with crafting. If that was the case it would make the double RNG a whole lot more manageable.
That would be superb if techs could reroll gear slots.
the only thing I can see with the double rng on this raid gear is someone double dipping.
you already have that chestpiece. You're wearing it. We need to equip our other members.
yea but this is an upgrade because we got 4 slots on this one and they are the rune types I use.
at the moment, I look at runes as the icing on the cake unless it has absolutely no runes you need (ie logic runes for espers. No spellweaver, assassin or AP runes in logic)

I think that's the failure of the Rune system itself. It's just not that the runes are random and there's some there's BiS rune for some class, it's that entire types of Runes are literally useless for each class. If rune's were more equally useful to all the classes, the Runeslot RNG wouldn't be as bad(ignoring the fact some pieces of gear can have between 0 and 5(!) rune slots, which is too much variance). Adding to that problem is the rune sets, which due to how many you need to get the full effect on some, means you need to stack the same 1 or 2 types of runes.
The RNG just masks how borked it is in this respect. If items had static runes, you'd just see guides saying X item is BiS, and it has Y Slots, stack Z type runes in it, and that's all kind of bad in it's own right.

I am hoping, HOPING, that it won't be like the loot improvement system in Tera. Where you spam dusts at an item repeatedly, by the hundred, to get exactly what you want, every single time taking a chance that it will degrade the item.
Although, this would be fine with me if it was a technologist crafted item, as I am a technologist and it would be nice reparations for our current epic level of uselessness.

I still don't think Technologists are useless. Somebody is paying me for all these Expert Brutality Boosts and Refined Starshard Cores. I think it just isn't as pronounced as creating that uber elite set of tanking claws with 4 rune slots. But people are still using what I'm making consistently.
