Hmm, do I
A. Stockpile galactium and Novacite while waiting for the price spike that will come when everyone tries to do a last minute flurry of crafting to get OP craft items before the patch hits...
OR
B. Burn all my galactium crafting items that I can bank and drop on the market about a month after the patch goes live...
Decisions, decisions...

I've actually been a bit revitalized in my playing while I'm mentoring down to a buddy to play with him while he's leveling. It's been pretty fun. I made a tank build, which I never thought I would and we've been killing elites and stuff. This does mean I haven't had much time to do vet stuff. But its been fun and reminding me why I enjoyed playing the game.
Why hate fire? Logic Bomb seems like a decent rune set.
Its the 4th rune slot, which means it only gives like 50% of the stat boost you would have got if it was the 1st slot.
Rune slots are something like 1st-100%, 2nd-78%, 3rd-64%, 4th-50%
So if you had 4 of the same slot and somehow hacked the Gibson to allow you to take the same rune and the 1st rune gave 10 AP the ones after that would be 8, 6, and 5 AP.
Note: my percentages are likely off as my IP sharted the sheets at around 8am. Called them around 10. It's now almost 1pm and still no internet. I hate typing on my iPhone.

well fire is terrible (for me) because I can't get set runes off of it (In the Zone, Protect your Neck, Shield Specialist) and most of the defensive runes I can put in there are a bit trashy

Is there a mod that displays the various class/role primary and secondary stats while you craft? Because I basically forget who uses what for what every 30 seconds.

So, I've been lurking on this thread for bit and was wondering if you guys thought the game was worth it. The $60 price tag and the monthly subscription make it very expensive to try, and watching videos on YouTube can only go so far.
I guess I've got three questions:
1. Do you think that the game, as it stands, is worth 15 bucks a month?
2. Do you think the game has legs? That is, the game won't go free to play in six months and render this whole discussion moot.
3. Most importantly, is this game fun to play?

3. Most importantly, is this game fun to play?
1. Despite the griping, this game has more level 50 content than most MMOs this long after release, and the pace of content drops has been pretty quick(about 1 drop a month)
2. The game has a strong playerbase, even with the standard 1 month dropoff, I would be surprised it this game went F2P in less than a year. Even if it does go FtP, most early adopters will get benefits for their loyalty. Rift took a year and a half to go F2P, but since I have played it for like 2 months before that, I got a whole bunch of legacy benefits.
3. Absolutely. New IP, innovative combat mechanics, actual difficulty that goes beyond just slapping more health and damage on enemies.

1. Due to the CREDD system. This is a bit of a loaded question. I think its worth the first month and working buy a CREDD in game. I think it's at least worth another 15 if you couldn't get that first CREDD.
2. I actually don't think it will go FTP soon for the very same reason. CREDD. All the CREDD that's been purchased is literally months of revenue in advance. I think its made its own legs.
3. This game is really fun. It's weaknesses definitely aren't in the fun game play department. The biggest weakness is that it is a formula MMO. And if you don't like that. Then fun game play will only get you so far.

Sure. Thank you! That would definitely help me gauge it.
Thanks for the responses everyone, it's very helpful. I read up on the CREDD system, and it seems like a really cool way to play. My only question is, how expensive is it usually? For comparison, in Star Trek Online it's pretty easy to rack up 1 million currency- but individual pieces of gear can go for 5 million.

When I bought my CREDD this week it was a little over 6.5 Platinum. I had 4 Platinum when I hit 50 without doing really much at all to build in game money. When I was trying to build up some cash, I was making about 1 plat a day selling crafted goods (And I'm not one of the big money crafting professions either). But that wasn't even putting a huge amount of time into it, either.
CREDD is surprisingly affordable. Especially early in the month. I don't know if it will stay that way. But I only put a little work in and was able to get one no problem.
CREDD prices are rising, but they're still low enough that at level cap you can afford to buy one pretty easily if you're active. Weeks ago I managed to snag a CREDD for 4p50, when I looked this week they were up to 7p... which is pretty close to the amount of money I'd just make passively from doing all my daily quests in a week. Add in money from selling tradeskill materials I didn't need or whatever, and I'd be profiting pretty nicely week-over-week.

Yeah I managed to bank 5 credd in about 3 weeks (at, I'm guessing, about 4-5p each, averaged), so for the moment, I would say it's not worth subscribing unless you've got limited playtime.
I can't really opine on the free to play potential because in my mind - due to the credd system - it already is.
I think the combat is super fun, and (medic) healing is probably the most fun I've had in an MMO ever. That said, I think the developers have made a series of fairly bad decisions (all made after I had to go on hiatus, mind) which don't exactly stoke my confidence in them. I've said it more than once in here, but I think this game has the potential to be really, really good in a year or so.
Anyway, I've still got 2 NA trial codes, so hit me up if anyone would like to see what's up firsthand.

I have seen 2 rules of thumb, but they both basically work out to $2 being worth about 1 hour of farming. 1 hour of farming at level 50 nets you about 1 plat(100 gold) give or take. CREDD is worth about $15(the actual cost of a regular one month sub) to someone who has the cash to pay for it, $20 to someone who cannot. That means that CREDD is worth about 7.5-10 hours of farming or 7.5-10 plat at most. So the price is lower than that right now, but I am trying to figure out a reasonable upper bounds. So if you can spend 10 hours a month farming money for your CREDD, you should always have more than enough. If you are smart and farm things that people want on the AH/CX, you can probably get it with less.
Thanks for any information you have supplied to help us resolve this issue. We are currently working towards a solution that will both be a rotational improvement (2 second Gamma Rays ICD is going away) as well as a DPS improvement (we did not hit the mark we intended due to conflicting changes on dev). We will give a full update once we have completed these adjustments on our dev environment.
Do after hitting 14 with my medic I can honestly say I don't enjoy playing it. I'm going to try SS next. Though I do enjoy my time on my stalker as well.

Purples from Raids, Dungeons, and Adventures SHOULD be better than crafted blues.
Fixing RNG(or at least attempting to alleviate it) is a good thing. Running a dungeon 100 times and throwing away that Purple Doowhackie you want a few dozen times because the runes suck is not fun. Now this appears to be less likely to happen(My guess is some sort of "If Brutality = Yes, then [Insert applicable DPS runes for Warriors and Stalkers] = Yes).

I do refer to those often, but it just messes with my head that the same stat will do different things for different classes. I can't keep track of it.

I wanted to drop by and give an update on the situation. As I mentioned in my last post we were reviewing the PTR changes to Gamma Rays. We have done so taking extreme care and doing many comparisons and many, many tests. We realized that there was a snafu when we were taking the Medic tests that we were testing the intended changes with other general combat balance changes and they were skewing the numbers. With that said these are the revisions we are planning to Gamma Rays.
Gamma Rays
Target Count: Reduced to 2 targets, down from 3.
Base Damage: Increased to 14.43 damage per level, up from 14.19 and 33.13% Assault Power, up from 32.62%
Tier 8 Bonus: Removed the 2 second cooldown.
This will result in an overall DPS gain for Gamma Rays. This alteration will not make it in for patch 2, but we will push for it to get in as soon as possible in a hotfix.
Goals Going Forward
Monitor healing balance post Probes change.
Increase the viability of Field abilities across the board.
Remove the RNG element from Recycler.
Replace the Entrapment AMP
Increase Actuator generation for Healers.
Update Triage to function as a powerful single target emergency heal.
Introduce a second Interrupt through an existing ability.
Introduce additional Smart Healing through existing abilities.
