Yes, they're in game. If you want some, you can buy them from the Mechwarrior Online website. They're a ton of fun. They'll be available for C-Bills/MC in the next couple months if you want to wait.

Got an Ember with 4 ML, 4 MG and I dropped a 285 XL in it because 97kmph is not fast enough for a light. So far so good, I've ended with kills and assists in the three matches I've played.

You do? For the 55 dollar Timer Wolf buyin you get three? I thought it was ala carte, just the TW?

e: I see, you get the Prime variant which is the hero mech, and then two standard variants, so effectively three mechs.

Putting this here, with some notes, just in case:

    ECMRavenBuild.png

    1. Endo and Ferro, obv.
    2. The build really wants Speed Tweak. You'll be at 142.5 kph with it, which is juuuust fast enough for an IS light by my tastes. 129.6 kph is fine, but it doesn't feel great.
    3. The ERLL is for long-range poking, the 2xML for knife fighting. You can use all three in a brawl (and I do regularly), but you have to watch your heat, especially on the hot maps.
    4. The SSRMs are for fighting other lights, principally. You only have 25 salvos, so while you can use it when brawling heavier mechs, you have to be more judicious.
    5. This mech is at its best when it's right near and behind a friend, acting as a force multiplier with ECM cover and your laser pokes. Brawling lighter mechs solo should be fine, but fighting a competent Firestarter or Jenner is rough.

I really love the crap out of this build. It feels like the most flexible mech in my 35t pile.

Similar to my old build (minus the LL) basically just replaces two DHS, BAP and a MLAS for a LLAS for the longer range meta...

I wonder if they'll ever let IS mechs uses clan gear... i Clan-fit Raven would be hilarious... although it would obviously break balance fairly badly, jenners and Firestarters would be even better along with most other mechs... imagine a DDC with Clan weapons and XL engines...

I don't mean to bitch and shit on the game you guys like, but every single match I have to exit and log back in cause it either gets hung up at connecting back to the mechbay or hangs up on redeeming whatever achievement I got. Is there anything I can do to fix this on my end?

Don't worry; shitting on the game is a time-honored tradition here. I was having a mard yesterday after finding out my client was broken and I was getting dropped at the start of every game. It ended up taking nearly an hour to get into a match, since I had to re-download a bunch of huge game resource files. I don't know why MWO corrupts its files so often.

Anyway, try running the repair tool, and if that doesn't work you may be hosed.

Is the Summoner one of the mechs that people are saying has funky hit boxes. Because I just put 6xUAC5 into one charging me straight on with a Dire Wolf, some into his leg as he jumped over me, and a ton more into his back as he fled, and he came out of it with barely a scratch.

Okay, I know the 4SP Hunchback was suggested as a first mech, but I was looking and there are sales going on for Atlas assault mechs, and one of them comes with a 300xl engine. So I figure if I get that, I get a big heavy mech with lots of dakka, plus an engine I can use in other mechs later. Sound plan? Only like a million short of it.

huh, the atlas-k does come with a 300XL engine, doesn't it

god that's a terrible atlas fit

but the 300XL is a workhorse engine that goes in all sorts of stuff, so yeah try and get one of those on the cheap if you can

that might actually work, buttcleft. the 300xl is just that solid of an engine. You'll use it in a lot of mechs, so much so, you might buy a second one so you don't have to constantly flip it out.

I imagine XL engines are pretty expensive on their own, curious how much of the sale price is just the engine.

Had some tense down the last few mechs matches, with people cheering the remaining mechs on as we blasted eachother apart with what weapons were left. Epic!

Also had to laugh as I peeked above a hill in a BJ-1(C) (the trial blackjack), saw some mechs and popped an AC20 shot off at a DireWolf...instantly cockpitting him for the kill. I was then vaporized by a MASSIVE torrent of LRMs. I then watched as my team was annihilated by a never ending rain of LRMs. Sometimes this game is fun, sometimes it's LRMs.

I bought a Jenner and Catapult since they were on sale and I had about 5mil cbills. I forget which varient #s they were, but the cata is the one that mounts 2x ppcs by default. I got ferro and endo on it, up-armored the torso (center and both sides) and "arms" to max, slapped an AMS w/ 500 rounds, some more heat sinks, and replaced the 2x ML and 2x MG with 2x MPL. So far I've done pretty well with it. If I chainfire the PPCs I can manage the heat even on hotter maps, and the MPL are good against lights or finishing off bigger mechs that are near death. What kind of engine would be best in this mech? I might do something odd like a 4x LL or 2x LPL + whatever build later.

By the way, you guys: if you haven't elited your Atlases yet, they're currently 50% off for CBills! (Same for Jenners, Catapults and Hunchbacks, but who's counting.)

That allowed me to get a third Atlas, so I can finally elite my DDC...

The very first thing i did upon the final reset was to buy an Atlas K just for its 300XL so i could get a jump on things and slap it into my founders catapult. It was well worth it.
The only mistake i made was not basicing the atlas before i sold it for a pile of cbills, to also get a jump on kitting out my mechs.

Hmmm. I wonder if it's cheaper to get the atlas k on sale, strip out the 300xl, sell the chassis; than to get the 300xl on its own.

Keep the 300xl, try it on a heavy or medium and see if you like faster mech instead. I can only stand 360 engine on the atlas and only after speed tweak.

I just need to get used to maneuver warfare instead of trying to stand still and get a shot off with the gauss.

Also I need to get the gauss out of my atlas as soon as I can afford cause those things are always explodey, and having it in the torso with an XL engine is just suicide waiting to happen if I know my battletech right.
