I've been fitting games in here and there, randoming and taking it pretty casually.
In comparison to DOTA, where a match will almost always eat up an hour of my time for various reasons, I really appreciate being able to hop in and play a faster game. Thanks to the way unranked works, if I have to leave or the game is lost... I can just quit out and go on with my life, dont have to worry about abandons or what not.

That is what prompted my two games the other night.
People don't play Starcraft because there are no mountains left to climb. The silly league system is good for the first run in Starcraft, but coming back to it the idea just undermines anything you would want to do.

I still play because I hate myself but I hate opponents on ladder just a little more
kespa cup very soon. flash and bomber I think! both in tvps. if they both win they play each other tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (or whenever it is)
I stopped playing because I felt I had peaked, I was as good as I was going to get with my capabilities. At that point I found the game more frustrating than rewarding.
I stop playing because as far as competitive games are concerned I am an enormous coward.

I just remembered why I stopped. Every fucking Terran does the 3base scv pull in TvP, every fucking Zerg proxy hatches in my base (and there is no way to not be a little bit behind if they cancel the hatch, and it's REALLY annoying to deal with by letting it finish and using cannons. And PvP is PvP.
See, that's because you played Protoss though. If you played Z or T you'd have only had to deal with ZvP or TvP, but when you're P every game has a Protoss in it.

that was graphic!
so the kesp cup final in around 9 hours will be a pvp. as is quite fitting for a year-end tournament in 2014. even Flash could only knock out so many toss in a row.
zest (teammate of flash who lost to flash at iem toronto finals) vs cj hero
I want to say hero is the favorite, I believe he has the better results overall, but zests pvp yesterday was disgusting where as hero was playing all pvt. now, that also gives hero more to look at but zest was frightening.
should be a great series. I shouldn't be awake for it but if I am I'll be watching.
I really find the interviews pre and post games to be really cringe inducing. I wish they would cut at least some of the production bits out of this Dreamhack and just get to the games.
I used to be decent at Starcraft 2 but now I am bad. So I decided to have fun. I successfully cannon rushed a diamond player (I'm in gold) and for something like 10 matches after that I got demolished by diamonds. Now I just run with the Pachelbel Defense: Cannons in D.

Add me on battle.net I want to learn more Terran and I am easily back to gold level with my off races now.

I'm probably not going to play anymore. The Starcraft community on bnet is pretty toxic and even close games aren't fun since people turn into assholes the moment the game swings in their favor (if they weren't assholes from the beginning that is).

all the more reason to play with this community (such as it can be described as a community, at least)
Need some advice. I'm pretty sure the answer will be practice, but I'll ask any way. I'm doing well in the beginning of the match but some where near the middle when I have at least two command centers going and I'm starting to micro a bit,I seem to just lose all control of things. I've yet to play against a human and always end up winning so far, but dislike how out of control I feel. Any suggestions?

i am just starting to learn this game again as well and i know what you mean. right when you have two command centers up is basically when the match really starts; your economy is about to jump, your first few production centers are going online, and you're still trying to micro your scouts and harassment in the field
a lot of it is obviously practice, but i've personally found it helpful, before a match starts, to sit for a bit and visualize what i need to happen to accomplish certain goals. memorizing a build order is one thing, but actually considering it and thinking about why it is in the order it is not only helps me adapt if i need to, but i've found it's boosted my instincts mid game. and instincts are about all i can rely on at this point in my development, i never seem to actually have time to sit and actually think
i am playing some stuff with slicer and variable now, and i am pretty bad still, but if anyone wants to do some games with someone that does not currently hate starcraft 2 feel free to add me @ tarranon#1364
You could be anywhere

yeah if you're thinking 'I need to micro with my reaper and add production' rather than just looking at your unit and seeing your money go up, you will be way more successful and be better and getting things done rather than going through motions

I'm glad that someone understands me! I'll keep at it, it's what's holding me back from playing with real people. Well, that and my fucked up work schedule.
I've been playing a bit with my friend to help him learn. I still can't control large armies for shit, but my small scale unit control is waaaaay better than it used to be.

@Banzai5150 This is totally normal. Your capacity to keep track of multiple tasks simultaneously is what determines your success at Starcraft, and it will improve with time and practise. The most effective way to improve your multitasking is to focus on two things
1) Prioritization.
Learn which things are important, and which can wait. For example, early on in the game, it's a lot more important to keep making workers and units than it is to micro your army, so if you don't have enough attention to do both, just a-move the units and then ignore them.
2) Automatic responses
This is about learning what to do in game based on your chosen playstyle, and doing it without thinking. Knowing your build, being comfortable with it, so that executing it becomes a matter of going through rehearsed and well-memorized motions, rather than having to think about each next step.
So they say D3 has been made a TONE better than what it was at launch. I didn't get TOO far (only really played with Monk to Act 4 on Hell difficulty).
They haven't really made any major changes to SC2 since the Arcade was launched, right?
I'm aware of the upcoming changes from @rts ' work through GameHeart with the UI and stronger team colours, but since the Arcade is that kind of it?
I guess, considering the launch of WoL, the game has wholeheartedly improved (no chat channels... wtf)?
D3 is a shit load better. New difficulty settings that were more than just "Farm x level until mobs in x+1 no longer oneshot you", new level system, new mode that lets you go to whichever areas you want without having to play through the whole damn story to get there, new loot system that no longer gives you useless loot, no more gold farming, it's been pretty great. SC2 just seems like the odd one out so far.

I would say both games are largely better. D3 was all blizz and listening to the community, HOTS had some to do with blizz but also plenty to do with the introduction of kespa teams. they refined the game, I don't really believe it's debatable. I'm not saying no one can compete game to game but their meta advancement has no doubt affected the experience of everyone playing this game. idk if toss becomes what it became, or as quickly, sans that environment.
and we still have another expansion for both I am pretty sure.
Ever wonder how Xel’Naga Caverns would play out in Heart of the Swarm? Did you discover an unbeatable strategy on Habitation Station only after it left the ladder? Wish you could get Cloud Kingdom back for one more season? Well then the upcoming ladder season is exactly what you’re looking for.
In Season 4 we’re going to open up the opportunity for past 1v1 maps to return, and also let YOU decide which maps those will be!
The Map Pool of Your Dreams
We’ve seen the feedback – you want a chance to pick your dream 1v1 map pool. On September 24, we’ll release a poll asking which maps you’d like to see in the upcoming ladder season. The seven maps that receive the most votes by October 1 will be added to the Season 4 ladder map pool.
Nominate Your Favorites
Before we open it up for voting, we’d like to hear what maps you think should be on the final poll. You can do this by jumping into our official discussion thread and sharing your thoughts, or providing your nominations on Twitter using the hashtag #dreampool. All past ladder maps are eligible. We’ll be reading your responses and will select the most popular maps for the final poll.
You’ll have through September 23 to get your nominations in, so don’t wait too long to share your favorites and let your dream become a reality.

I actually find starcraft soothing after playing hearthstone, and vice versa, because they're aggravating in incredibly different ways.

mma in Dreamhack finals. MMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
if MMA wins he's into blizzcon
he'll be against true or jjakji

mma is my dude but I'd be okay with seeing jjakji win. I'm just glad it wasn't a 3-0.
edit - maybe it's not going 5, jjakji throwing away tanks!
His reason for winning is prob. the most honest though.
