Hmm, someone gifted me a game, but in trying to "get" the gift, Steam now just has a pop up that says "Scanning for license updates" or something that won't go away. And it doesn't say I have the game in my library.
I've been 27 for a little over half an hour and you crazy people have already buried me in gifts!
@Berylline was first to hit me with Gone Home, followed closely by @Spoit with Nether, @BornToHula with Defy Gravity and @Drake with Cloudbuilt!
I thought I was safe when suddenly @Big Classy logged on and started barraging me with things! The Bureau, Planet Explorers, Insurgency, and Metal Gear Rising! He also mentioned he wants all of those games, so get him!
While writing THAT @minor incident got me with Battleblock Theater!
I'm afraid that if I don't stop soon I'm going to never finish this post, but I want to mention how much I love all of you classy folks, you inspire me to be more generous every day.
And one day soon I'll have a job and then... then there will be a reckoning.
Edit: @CorriganX has asked me to make it clear that I am not a girl, despite his joke earlier. He has received a lot of messages about it.
There's a reason I don't let people know when my birthday is. I feel guilty receiving gifts because I can't reciprocate in a similar volume.
Does anyone here have thoughts on Paper Sorcerer? Steam tells me that @Krummith has a bunch of hours in it, could you perhaps shed some light?
I really wanted to like Legend of Grimrock but I found the real-time battles really stressful and annoying. To get past tricky foes, I'd lead them through a hallway with a door, close it, open it for just long enough to sneak in a hit then quickly close it, save, rinse and repeat... It got pretty tedious. Loved the environmental puzzles though

Try strafing in a circle. Its a lot faster and will get you into the rhythm you need to fight the harder enemies
"Well that's what you'd say if it wasn't a trap so it must be a trap."
"It's not a trap, just accept the friend invite."
"How do I know you're not trying to trick me?"
"Seriously, not a trap, I just want to be friends."
"I still think this is a trap."
"Don't worry so much."
"DAMMIT IT WAS A TRAP."

If you need a mouse that is a pretty great deal. I have a razor "hexanagalknlasd, nfasdl, fmn its got buttons on the side" and i love it(I.E. it hasn't broken after a year, which is about how fast i go through mice) and damn 20 dollars is cheap
Regardless of what you think about "gaming" mice, that's a pretty good deal.
Grab one before they run out.
That's the mouse I use at home and I have zero quams about it. One of the nicest feeling I've owned, TBH. Just make sure to download the optional software to turn off the glowing Raser symbol

I did give that a go upon recommendation when I was playing it a while ago, but I still didn't find it too much fun. I had the mental image of 4 characters uncomfortably close to each other, square dancing. And that was the end haha.
Lessee, Hamilton's never launching adventure is a bust, downloading Gone home, completly forgotten how to be skillful in Anomoly 1, and wondering if I will have time to idle the rest of my cards before the internet gets shut down.
On the bright side, I did get an application fired off and while I doubt I will get it or anything, it did feel good to write a nice cover letter.
To all parents who read this, don't save money for your kids going to school, save money for when they graduate. That's when they will want and need it the most.
it seems kinda feature-low for a $70 mouse, is all
It comes with a $50 steam card, so it's a $20 mouse.
But I guess Target is also selling them for $20.
Ehhhh. It comes with a $50 Steam card, so it's still a $70 mouse. You're paying $70 in universal money to get $50 in a currency that's used in one place. Personally I'd prefer to hold on to that $70, because versatility.
so blue is winning. I'm team blue. Think I will win those games??
Well, due to some weird computer error I didn't get mine, or even a notification that I was supposed to get them. I've submitted a ticket to Steam support to correct what must be an obvious oversight on their part.
Sooo, dark souls without a controller. Literally cannot find the menu button. OK i knew the controls were bad but wow this is amazing, its almost as if they tried to make it as incomprehensible as possible
More seriously though, it's a lot of fun; pretty tough at times; and with a really great art direction.
My friend thinks the winks and nods at the gaming community was just a little too cute, but i didn't mind a whit.

If you're the kind of person (and I think there may be one or two of you in this thread) who anticipates spending $50 on Steam before the end of the Summer Sale than you're paying $20 for a mouse and $50 for a Steam card that will add $50 to your Steam wallet that you were going to put at least $50 into anyway.

This, truly, is the path to madness. I tried DS with KBAM for all of 10 minutes before I tore open my still-packed moving boxes to find my wired X360 controller.
It amuses me somewhat, sitting at work doing something someone might describe as software development, that I could go home and choose to play a game about software development.
Presumably not pictured: Changing requirements, demented product owners, non-functional infrastructure, Gant charts
For what it's worth I never much liked Game Dev Tycoon. Mostly because of how it rates the games you make. Which I'll spoiler because it's kinda game breaking once you know:
All your games are rated based on your previous efforts. So creating a perfect bug free game with a synergy between setting and mechanics is discouraged for a good while as doing that too early will lead to you having a huge bar to surpass.

If it's the first Dark Souls, the mouse fix is mandatory. My brother found the KBAM controls alright after that. Not ideal, but functional.
I've actually been playing a game I picked up from this sale. I'm doing it wrong, sure, but Bound by Flame has been a very fun game.
It's a linear action RPG that is somewhat comparable to Dragon Age 2 (which I enjoyed twice). The melee combat is very good, but there's only one type of trap, a single ranged attack and I think the limited fire magic can make you look like a demon if you use it too much. The melee combat is good, though. There are two types of stances, warrior and ranger. Warrior has three types of weapons and ranger only gets daggers, so of course I've been playing mostly with warrior stance. Ranger is fun, too, but the stealth options seem weak while the dodging is over-powered.
The dialog and voice acting is bad. Super bad. Abysmally bad. Fortunately, it loops back around to entertaining. I haven't enjoyed playing a game with such bad dialog since the 90's.
The reason I pulled the trigger on Bound by Flame is that Olivier Deriviere did the soundtrack. He's the guy who created the best score in 2013 for Remember Me (he also did the Freedom Cry DLC for ACIV Black Flag, but I haven't heard it yet) and he's done another excellent job here. The music heavily features drums and vocals. It's very moody and fits the setting and is easily the most polished part of the game.

Game Dev Tycoon is so much better, in every way I wanted. Thank you @Spoit! I played it for something like 10 hours straight.
Also thank you @Elin for Roogoo! I have no idea what that is.
There's a reason I don't let people know when my birthday is. I feel guilty receiving gifts because I can't reciprocate in a similar volume.
That said, happy birthday mate!
