Well I've been spending the last couple of days trying to catch up on this thread. Apparently it's frowned upon if I stand in the park reading the forums while my 3 and 1 year old kids throw themselves down the slide.
At any rate, I crafted my last summer badge and have a couple cards leftover for anyone interested...
And it appears that they actually removed any leftover summer cards this time around. Interesting. I bet there were some angry people after that.
Stream is still going strong. We played some defiance, Beat powerpuff girls, beat tiny brains, and played some Insurgency. Now its time for Divinity Original Sin. Feel free to come join us!
and laugh at how bad we are.
All of the streamers have been amazing. I'm going to stay away from Divinity though because I'm planning to start my play through tonight and I don't want to spoil the campaign.

Why I lurve Divinity OS. Roped off area with a chest. I figure I could teleport the chest to me but I didn't take that skill so I'm trying to think of how to get it (had it in the Beta, but not on these new characters). Teleport is probably one of the abilities I WILL get but I didn't want to come back after doing so, I was stubborn. Then I remember my Ranger started with a skill that's designed to get him out of combat and jump away. Basically, meant to be an escape route in case a melee target comes for him, you can jump anywhere 15 meters away, has a really long cooldown. So I use that ability and hop over the ropes and loot the chest, and hop back. I love being able to do little things like that.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
For those that got Risk of Rain this sale, dudeman, myself and a couple non-PAers have been hitting it pretty hard in coop over the last week. Add me and if you see me playing Hollar. It's a grand old time in coop. And by grand old time I mean "Holy shit there are so many mans trying to kill us!"

Now that I'm back on my home PC I'm definitely down to try it this week.
How? I am having an insanely hard time playing this game.
I have Strike Suit Zero, Strike Suit Infinity, and Strike Suit Zero Director's Cut and I can't even properly maneuver the ship. It is driving me insane.

Divinity looks to be another Diablo. But I call everything isomeric Diablo. Baldurs Gate? Diablo clone. commandos? Diablo clone. Sim City? Diab-okay jokes old now.
I'm totally down for some Risk of Rain with peoples if I can tear myself away from The Secret World.
I briefly dipped into it when trying to get cards for the event, but it was really hard and the controls were weird and then I moved on to other games like Space Hulk and TSW. Seemed really fun though and I'm sure it's fucking crazy with other people.

Divinity: Original Sin is an amazing game, and Khildith is the worst coop partner ever made. Its an amazing stream! You guys raised so much money, this Stream is your reward! Come watch us blunder through the early parts of the game.
Currently on a quick break, but we'll get right back to fighting, dying, blowing ourselves up, losing track of how much longer to go, and cursing soon!

Woo! Looks like like I made it through the Steam Sale mostly intact. It helped laying low on the threads.
Let's see what we got here...
What games I bought:
- Shovel Knight
- Resident Evil 4
- Borderlands 2
- The Wolf Among Us
- Nether
- The Walking Dead Season 2
- Agarest Zero
- Darkness II
- Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae
- One Way Heroics
- Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon
What games I gifted;
- Several Retro City Rampage/s
- Some Hydrophobias
- 2 Guns of Icarus
- 2 Fez
- Metal Slug 3
- Farcry 3 Blood Dragon
- Double Dragon Neon
- State of Decay
- Velvet Assassin
Overall not bad... this made me hit exactly 300 games on my list.
So I think this is a good stopping point for the season. I will stop buying games and decline gifts from this point forward.
Hoping to stick to my resolution so I can clear much of my backlog as I recently started my vacation.

I usually do a recap post (and it's usually ludicrously long because monsters), but this morning after two weeks of desperate attempts to change the inevitable, I had to take my cat in to the vet to be put to sleep. Right now my heart is breaking and I don't have it in me to sift through emails/records and write up a proper tally.
I'll just say I love y'all and thanks to everyone who gifted me things (even though I asked you not to. Monsters.). I was gifted somewhere around 65-75 games (monsters!) and gave out just a tiny fraction of that (because fuck finances). Thanks to everyone who contributed to the Child's Play charity, whether it was $5 or $1000. Thanks to those who gave of themselves to create incentives for it. Thanks to Iolo for tracking it. Huge thanks to the five nutcases who volunteered for 24 straight hours of game streaming each. It's places like this and people like you that make the internet (and the world) just a bit better than it otherwise might be.
Thanks.
Sorry to hear that, Pixie. It always hurts to have to let a companion go like that- I lost one of mine a few months ago, and I still miss him. But I knew that he wasn't in any pain any more, and he was more than likely playing with his friends that had gone before him.
Each one we accept into our lives leaves a lasting mark upon us in our hearts and minds. I miss the ones who are gone, but they still give us memories to treasure and the knowledge that they were happy during their time with us.
Besides, they know when I see them next, I'm bringing the cheezburgers.
You're in the thoughts of a lot of people, including me and mine. I hope the gifts you got from all of us help ease your sadness a bit.
Beautifully put. I can't top that.
It never gets any easier to lose our beloved furry companions. I've tried to look at it as the price we pay for the time we have with them. Doesn't make it hurt less, though... but I for one couldn't be without them.

Don't feel too bad. I sucked at it too. It was hard trying to fly a ship where you had to let go of your "flight stick" to do certain things(change targets, change to strike mode, fire an EMP). Don't be intimidated by the leaderboards, most of them are not done on the first playthrough.

+1 for Risk of Rain crew. It would be nice to use some of the characters that are more dependent on having team mates. I did make it to the last boss as a sniper, but it was a struggle at times. Have more allies to draw aggro would definitely change the gameplan.

Yes. I tried on keyboard for 2 rounds and finally plugged the controller in and never looked back. I'm not saying it's required but I was fumbling without it.
The beauty is a round is an hour or less most times.
Anyone interested add me. Sig below. I'm on a stupid phone while at work.
I'd like to take a moment to post a belated thank you to @The Dude With Herpes for hooking me up with Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death earlier, and an apology for forgetting to thank you sooner. I got all swept up in a bunch of stuff. It looks awesome, like a buddy cop action brawler starring Terry Cruz and the mask from Crash Bandicoot.
Also, thank you to a certain @Big Classy for the gift of Friendly Fire Simulator 2014 Insurgency. I'd also like to take another moment to apologize to @Khildith for all of those holes I put in the back of his head. Smoke Grenades are a helluva drug.

Took me a bit to get used to. I found it very helpful to not try and go fast until I'd spent some a bit of time with it. It's really easy to end up trying to do a bunch of stuff all at once when you're rolling at high speed but you've got to be pretty deliberate. Tap, tap, tap on the jets, deliberate pause before you jump off a wall to get your bearings, etc. My time's are shit right now but actually seemed to be improving even as I got into more difficult levels and I can always go back and redo those early ones.
Also the prompts for controller lie when it says x to quick look behind you. It's been a couple days and I haven't spent a lot of time with it so I don't remember exactly but it's one of the triggers or bumpers not x.

I couldn't make it work well with a controller, I just had to use a keyboard for it. I didn't have enough fingers and thumbs to use all my abilities and be able to jump all at the same time, it just felt so awkward.
Biggest disappointment was definitely missing out on Secret World: Massive Edition by about 30 seconds. Saw it on sale, but working with wife on some cleaning before a trip to see family. Finish and sit down, and the flash sales had just changed. Checked the game, and it was showing on sale for less than a minute, and ran out in the middle of the checkout.
So, through the morning rituals, coffee made, dishes washed, sleep-cruft flushed from eyes. Still 1/4asleep, mind. Fire up the computer for a quick peek at things, and immediately get popped between the eyes with this:
@Talus9952, you are a monster, a classy, classy monster. Danke, arigasama ryuta, thank you very much.
Hell if I know. I go oldschool and keep a physical list, emails get deleted immediately. I sorta sat still in the gate when the pistol went off this sale but then Shadowrun went cheap and I went dumb. Stopped when I hit my third "problem with your wallet" time out. Wasn't even trying to write all those down at once so I said screw it I won't bother tracking at all. I think I mostly done good though.

I told myself at the beginning that I was going to try and put an hour or so into each game I received by the end of the sale and then fire off a sentence or two on what I liked about each. I totally failed at that, at best I've made it to maybe half of those games. So I'll just say I haven't hit a dud yet and frankly I don't expect to when I get to the rest. Thanks to everyone who shot me something.
Thanks also to the community at large for being the crazy classy fuckers you all are. Following along the best I can as games fly back and forth at a furious rate, and hella money is getting raised for sick kids, and folks are doing side drawings, and tournaments, and sacrificing their sanity by playing games for 24 hours straight all to try and encourage those kids getting as much as possible. It's amazing to watch and seems to get better every sale.
There's no greater shame and backlog motivation than a gifter who says something like "I'd rather someone who will actually PLAY this game get it!" or "Now I want to know your opinions of this game".

It happened to me a couple times this sale. "Oh, you heard this game was bad? Now you own the sequel!" which means I have to play the original AND the sequel now.
