Huh. My mom plays Animal Crossing and for some reason she couldn't get Mable to visit in her RV when she scanned the amiibo. It said that Mabel had a big order and we should let her get caught up before trying again. I wonder what that's about.... as far as I know Mabel is one of the characters who has an RV. Anyone here heard about that?

Did she check the RV Camp after? Today Wisp told me that Isabelle was busy but she showed up regardless.

    Yeah, she wasn't there.

edit: She tried again now and it worked. Our theory is that it only works when the store is closed.

Tapped Link into my game but just couldn't pull the trigger to have W Link move in. I need to get a Ganon amiibo. Wouldn't mind him.

I doubt I open my Splatoon girl pack.

I caved a got a MHG amiibo because I want the cavern floor and wallpaper and for various other reasons

I like Ganon's line when you summon him into your town
It's kind of nice and sad that I can use an amiibo to kick people from my town if only I can choose where they live

That makes sense. Isabelle said that she would be taking the day off so I wonder if she would be absent from Town Hall while RVing. Didn't occur to me to check, since I have been an absentee mayor for at least two years now despite playing literally every day.

I've read that most of the time Wisp takes the place of the absent character, but gives various excuses for not being able to perform their function. Not sure why Mabel would warrant special treatment.

You sort of can now. After the update villager homes won't be placed on top of any custom patterns you've laid down. With enough strategic pattern placement you could make it so that there's only one valid location for a villager home and they'd be forced to move in there.

Yeah, I've already seen Wisp take Isabelle's place so that's why I assumed it would function just the same with Mabel.

I encourage anyone to scan their Isabelle amiibos and have her go to the RV campground - it's the only time she'll take a day off!

Ok, I'm officially lost with this new Amiibo stuff.

I have the Wisp lamp in my house. It wants an AC amiibo so I bought a Tom Nook one. Does that just mean I can make Tom Nook show up in an RV or does using Tom Nook unlock some other sort of system or what have you?

If it's just Tom Nook I'd rather return the Amiibo.

Any Animal Crossing, Splatoon, or Zelda-character amiibo does something (plus Monster Hunter Stories apparently). But Tom Nook will always give you Tom Nook.

Summons the corresponding character (or one from a subset in the case of some Zelda figures, I think) that can either give you a gift or visit the RV camp. At the camp, you can use the new MEOW coupons to purchase special items that can only be obtained there (like a bunch of Zelda-themed furniture, clothing, and wallpaper/carpet) or are otherwise hard to get normally (Treasure Chest in Pascal's RV). If the character isn't an AC-specific personality (Nook, Isabelle, etc.) you can also ask them to move in if you have space.

Ok, cool, this is making sense.

So I can use my Link Amiibo or my Midna Amiibo to get random people to show up within a "Zelda subset"? Who can I buy to get a random from the Animal Crossing subset?

edit: oh, and I can use Splatoon amiibos as well, yes?

Yeah there are I think 4 Zelda characters: Wolf Link (I got him from Smash Zelda but Midna should guarantee him), Ganon (Gannondorf worked), Epona, and Medli (haven't seen those two yet).

Scanning a Splatoon Inkling/Squid gets you Inkwell; Callie and Marie give you Cece and Viché respectively.

AC villagers should come from their respective amiibo cards, but I only have Pascal's so I can't verify that.

AC villagers should come from their respective amiibo cards, but I only have Pascal's so I can't verify that.

The AC situation is a little complicated.

Villager cards from series 1 to 4 let you add the villager to your town or get a random piece of furniture (sometimes their picture).
Special cards from series 1 to 4 (foil effect, characters like Blathers) just get you the furniture option (including picture chance).
All cards from the new Welcome Amiibo series (horizontal cards with an RV design) let you add the villager to your town or invite them to the campground where you can buy their stuff with MEOW coupons.
Animal Crossing amiibo figures have the campground invite or random furniture options.
Zelda, Link and Midna amiibos summon Wolf Link for campground invite, villager invite or furniture.
Ganondorf amiibo summons Ganon for the same.
Shiek amiibo summons Epona and Toon Link amiibo summons Medli, same options again.
All the above zelda amiibos have unique zelda-themed furniture in their RV to buy.
The Callie and Marie amiibos summon Ceche and Viche, respectively (unique squirrel villagers) for campground, villager invite or furniture.
Any other Splatoon amiibo summons Inkwell the squid for same. All the Splatoon villagers have unique Splatoon-themed items to buy in their RV.
Any of the Monster Hunter Stories amiibos summon Felyne for campground invite, villager invite or furniture. He has unique Monster Hunter items in his van.

...I should have done this as a table.

Special shiny cards from series 1-4 will also let you summon that character's RV to the campground. I know this for I have done it.

Edit: No wait, maybe that was just Amiibos? Off to try now.

Edit edit: Yup, ignore me. I'm filled with lies and have too much AC Amiibo stuff because the kids (3 and 6) enjoy Amiibo Festival.

Yeah I think most if not all of the 1-4 special cards are already in the "VIP" RV list which is different from the villager RV list.

Well I happy to confirm you can order RV items from a different town and they will be delivered to your, at least when on a local connection My daughter has a New 3DS, used an Isabelle Amiibo, when I visited her town I was able to order a white Wii U and an Isabelle themed 3DS.

Has anyone else tried out the mini games yet? I didn't like the puzzle one so much as it's a little too restrictive IMO but I having fun with the island escape.
