If you get a good leash do WE instead for level 1-2, you'll clear it faster. If you have to solo it or you're going to get a bad leash, do EW. After that, I do R > Q > E > W. Getting the base cooldown on E from 14->8 leveling it second gives you a better shot at getting more charges off across a fight and increases your burst as well.
Items wise, 100% agree with WhiteShark. Spirit of the Elder Lizard, Merc's, then decision time.
If fed, Triforce. If still fed, consider Hexdrinker. Then get your tank.
If not fed, get your tank. Randuin's+Locket+BV is a pretty good combo on her IME.
If in between, Hexdrinker then tank is a reasonable compromise.
Vi will fall off a little bit come late game if you're not retardo fed still, so parlay your early strength by just crushing people in mid game and take objectives. If you did go full tank, though, it gives you safety to initiate for your team, just make sure not to go too deep where they can't support you, even if you are really tanky.
The main things about her are abusing alternate gank paths by going through the Dragon/Baron walls during laning, being able to hit full charge Vaultbreakers for that megadamage, and knowing in what situations to ult (ult immediately vs hold it for after their disengages and how to ult to catch multiple people with the secondary damage and so on).
Also, I remain convinced that lulu top is still the easiest champion to be carried on. Do well? Kill everyone. Do poorly? Be a support with lots of gold

If you get good on landing his Qs and max QE you can give your adc a free lane since you can pritty much kill everything yourself.

I just started ranked again and it really is a game of who breaks first. Objectives don't really matter as much as the minds of the players, every single pub game comes down to which team tilts first.
Like an inflammatory comment aimed at someone who lost their lane is more damaging to the team then losing dragon or 3 deaths.
I picked up Renekton over the weekend. Despite my very first game with him in team builder going in with my AP setup, every other game has been fun. I think I've found my go-to top laner.

We almost won a 3v5. I was trist and ended the game 21-7-something. We had 10 or so more kills than the other team when the game ended at 55 minutes. Just couldn't overcome the numbers.

The only pentakills I have are Zombie Pentas, and they dont count since dieing technically breaks teh streak
Kill stealing (or pentakill stealing in this case) doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's individual recognition for what was a team effort anyway.
Yeah, unless you had zero assists on all 5 it really means nothing. I say this with the haughty authority of someone who got their only penta by crowstorming into the end of a teamfight.
I got one penta in ARAM as AP Yi and one penta as caitlyn in maybe the only game I've ever done well in as an ADC.
I'm not sure if I deserved the cait one so much as the enemy deserved to get penta'd by me, because I really am a god-awful ADC. But I got it, and I was very happy.
When I got my Yi penta I was shouting over voice "IT'S ALL SKILL" over and over and over.
This right here rings true way too often. "What the hell was that engagement?" is what I'll end up thinking after someone gets caught out and then their team streams into the grinder instead of cutting their losses and defending something easier to hold.
It not about deserved or not deserved. It's about people deliberately being dicks and preventing a teammate who was carrying them from getting an awesome personal AND team achievement.

Most damage on team, most damage taken, I just pushed towers like nothing, and that headbutt -> auto bit is silly.
As much as I don't want it to happen, there are probably nerfs incoming.
