As I understand it, the Wii version is significantly easier relative to the DS version. Not actually easy, mind you, but they took the potential jankiness of wiimote pointer controls into account.

Yeah. It's very clear that they intentionally don't mention Jon on the show, even when it would be appropriate. The problem with that, is that it fuels the conspiracies about what happened.
You don't make a concerted effort to never manage your previous partner unless something happened.
As to why people care, it's because GG feels very open and honest. That's why we like shit like the D club. They give us a glimpse into their lives, as well as entertain us.
So it's jarring when it feels like they won't share something. I'm not saying the fans have any right to know; simply that I understand why they want to know.

I could easily see Barry censoring out Jontron posts. I have no idea how much work goes into actually creating a single ten minute episode, how edited the footage is or anything, but a Jontron mention would be needlessly disruptive and pretty easy to mask over.
I don't think I've even seen a Jontron mention in the Miiverse posts that have popped up which seems unlikely given just how many of them there are.

So I will drop the JT and say that I have super loved their Super Mario 3D World playthrough and I wonder why it took them so long to get to it but I guess there was probably a glut of SM3DW when it was released. Danny is super into it, though. And you can tell and the energy level reflects in the content of the episodes themselves. When it's one playing and one talking it's super mellow and kind of hit or miss for me.
I'm fine with them not mentioning it. And, like the video posted above, when any of the Grumps do mention Jon it's in a generally respectful manner (though Arin is obviously the most uncomfortable with the question in that vid), just say something polite and move on.
Jon on the other hand always makes it into a dramatic thing, hinting at drama and generally is the sort of attention whoring that you see when people post something vague on Facebook when they're just fishing for questions or sympathy. It's immature and it's obnoxious as shit. Say what you want to say or shut the hell up.
