So I picked up a flagon in Windhelm but was spotted doing it. 1 septim bounty.
I tried to surrender to a guard but it wasn't working. I tried drawing and unsheathing several times, and I'm low level so I don't have a lot of time to mess around with this before I'm dead. Finally the guard says "I'll spare you, this time".
He didn't confiscate my stolen flagon, but it seems to have cleared the 1 septim bounty, I talk to other guards and they don't try to arrest me.
Except the Dawnguard Sentries have all decided I must die for my terrible crimes and are all hostile to me.
So I killed them, because fuck this NYPD we're going to execute you over a 1 septim bounty nonsense.
Now I am faced with the dilemma of what to do with all the awesome gear I just got from these tools.
I think I left it in the tomb, to be perfectly frank.
It's ugly, but it actually is a very good battleaxe. x1.2 damage to all elves, including falmer but excluding orcs.
True but it still pales in comparison to anything towards the top end that's player made/enchanted.
Which I think is my issue with loot when it comes to weapons and armor in Skyrim. I'm never going to find anything that compares to what I can make myself so all I end up caring about is value in gold/would it make a nice decoration.

But I appreciate the lesson that the true magic and strength lies in what I can do.
Also, this game on a SSD is amazing. Hello, crazy texture mods.
Any time I've done the Embassy quest, both the Wood Elf and the prisoner usually fail to survive. They make it through the fight against the Thalmor but generally prove too stupid against the Frost Troll to let the motherfucking Dragonborn have a turn before they go in with fists swingin'.
When I just did this as soon as I loaded into the cave the prisoner made a comment about "getting the hell out of here" and jumped off the cliff, aggroed the troll, then screamed and took off like a bat out of hell to the cave entrance. Not sure if the troll would have caught up to him because I killed it first but I did approve of the prisoners sensible actions given the situation.

That's why I use a mod that makes unique items way more powerful. It doesn't make them ridiculously OP, just an alternative to top level player enchanted stuff.
I use Artifact Balance Overhaul. It should be noted that it hasn't been updated in more than 2 years and, therefore, the author never got around to messing with Dragonborn items, which is too bad because I really want to like the Bloodskaal Blade. Legendary Artifacts doesn't seem to boost the items enough, in my opinion, and Stronger Daedric Items only affects the Daedric items (and not even all of them). There's just no ideal mod for this.
Snag the transmute spell from halted stream camp, you can turn iron ore into gold ore with it. Also raiding dwemer holds and building/upgrading a ton of dwarven bows is how I've been doing mine.

To clarify: making iron daggers used to be the best way to increase smithing. However they adjusted this to incorporate the value of items produced, so that making more valuable items increases smithing more quickly.
As carpy said, there is a spell that allows you to transform iron ore to silver, and silver to gold. Mods can make this easier, but it is a solid way to increase earnings either way.

should I be doing something different than just producing thousands of iron daggers to level my smithing?
You must have found an outdated smithing guide.
As of several patches back, smithing levels directly based off the value of the item produced. This means that iron-anything isn't an effective way to level smithing at all, and iron daggers are particularly lousy. Iron helmets are fine until you skill up enough to make stuff with stronger materials, but past that stop grinding out iron crap, it's just a waste of your time.
Dwarven bows are a good leveling mainstay, high cost for what you put into it. Ebony bows also have a pretty high cost for what they require but you won't be able to make as many as you can dwarven bows (seriously, raid one big dwemer ruin and you have enough dwemer ingots forever).
Orcish armor is my preferred way for getting rid of otherwise useless orichalum ingots, of which there are quite a lot in the game. If you boost up your smithing with a lot of enchanted gear and potions, then you should improve the items you made for a large boost to smithing exp and a significant boost to the value of the item.
If you aren't boosting your smithing, skip the improvements as it will waste materials in exchange for relatively minor exp and value.

that only transmutes one ore per cast though, at least it seemed to do that for me. Which is why I skipped/forgotten about the jewelry.
The chances are high I just fucked up using it though.

That's about right. It's the kind of spell you can use while out exploring. It takes a little while to recharge, but you generally have a lot of time where you can use transmute without it affecting your main abilities.

Yeah it's a pain but it's the best way I've found to get gold. I'm sure there's a mod to help but I play PS3 GOTY so they aren't an option for me.
Edit: like Shimshai said I just continually cast it when running around or have down time like waiting for a stupid vendors bankroll to respawn so I can sell all my jewelry I'm making.
One trip through any dwemer ruin will get you enough scrap to turn into ingots to make so many dwarven bows. Just, like, all the dwarven bows. I think every soldier in the empire got one and they became the new main export of Skyrim by the time I was done.

Just make sure to offload as much as possible before you go into the dwarven ruins. I always come out with way more weight in loot than most dungeons I go spelunking In.

Well the writing in the rune does spell out Dick Butt so it's somewhat lore friendly.
My next character was going to be a warrior type, but now I'm not so sure. Dickbutt runes...
For cash/enchanting grinding I've found iron/steel daggers with repel undead to be insanely good. Their value is very high even for low level souls and they're so easy to make a million of

Considering how abused the term "immersive" is in terms of Skyrim modding I find the title of the mod to be perfect.
Hey all, been trying to set up the Vividian ENB and I can't seem to get to any exterior cells.
I first altered the .ini files then deleted them to let the game re-generate them and there is no difference.
There is also no difference between using my modded version (via MO) or using either the vanilla .exe or the skse launcher.
I would appreciate any advise, If all else fails I'll just delete and re-install skyrim and my mods this time starting with the ENB I guess?
soo..before I left this morning, I got into Skyrim and gave the transmute spell mod a try and I love it.
Then I stopped by my hearthfire house and made Lydia my steward..and she disappeared, and I cant find her.
So I may have to reload an old save.
No don't, stewards sometimes disappear and usually they will reappear. Lydia is not one of the known problematic stewards, she should be fine.
Try leaving, go to another city or something and wait in the inn for several days and then go back to your Hearthfire house and see if she reappears.
Also keep in mind that the 'wander box' for stewards is a rather large area. Sometimes you'll find them rather far from the house but they are still walking their steward-route.
Also as a last resort, you can do this with any missing npc, save your game in a new slot, then load a game where the npc was present. Open the console and target them, close the console. Re-load your first save with the missing npc, open the console, the missing npc will still be targeted. Type 'moveto player' without the quotes.
This moves the npc to you. If the npc still isn't there, open the console again and type resurrect, then type enable.
Does sperg break sneak, or is it some other mod I've got?
I trained it to 100, and as far as I can tell my character is completely silent, but if I am ever in anyone's field of view, regardless of light conditions or distance (to an extent), they see me.

SPERG breaks sneak. It's pretty easy to fix though. From the FAQ:
"-Sneak does not improve with skill
FIX: The bug here is an incorrect value for the skill scaling. It's set to .005, when it should be 0.4 (or 0.2 for hardcore mode). You can change this value by editing the AutoSneak000 perk in TES5Edit, or you can simply use the console to add the vanilla Stealth perks manually as your skill level increases. You do this by typing "player.addperk 000BE126" where the string of numbers and letters is a code that specifies the appropriate perk. The perks are, in order from rank 1 to rank 5: 000BE126, 000C07C6, 000C07C7, 000C07C8, and 000C07C9."
