Yard sales today turned up a copy of NSMB Wii for two bucks which is cool since it's still pretty expensive in stores. Eventually I'll get the all the Wii games I missed.

I still really like playing Super Mario Kart, but it is definitely the least Mario Kart-ish one, simply because everything has been improved or changed. Actually part of what makes it where I can still play it semi-regularly (I pop it in something 8 times a year) is the fact that it's such a different game.
Mario Kart DS had a really good Battle Mode as well I thought. Not as good as Mario Kart 64s of course but its the best that we've had since that game. Double Dash's was . . . okay.
Has anyone with Wii Fit U gotten the newer Gamepad battery? I believe the new battery is larger, but I reckon the weight difference is negligible. Has anyone checked this out? Google has failed me.

Double Dash was great at Game Nights at my place. Lots of drunk people... One person driving, other person shooting. Lots of fun to be had, but MK64 is where I spent probably thousands of hours playing.

Double Dash is my favorite Mario Kart, if only to keep swapping Daisy into the driver's seat over and over until everyone hates me.

Thanks @Mr_Grinch for coming into the Xbox One thread to add a list of games for the Wii U (all of which interest me) to point out what makes the Wii U a good choice as a secondary console. I currently own an Xbox One and have eyed the Wii U for quite a while. I thought I could avoid the purchase because I don't have any time, but I may not be able to avoid it much longer.
I asked last week about digital purchases, but I do have a follow up question. Are there deals in the eShop frequently? I have enjoyed digital purchases on the Xbox One, but always figured physical copies for the occasional Wii U game would be fine. Do sales on the eShop make that a good option or are sales in retail stores always better?

I'd say retail is probably better 90% of the time.
The retail says are much better right now, but I think that's partly because retailers were really, really close to just clearing all Wii U stuff out. (its mostly third party stuff too)
If sales continue to pick up, I bet the discounts will be less steep.
There are weekly sales on the eshop, but its often dumb crap like 30% off some 3DS shovelware.

I bought an external battery pack. It's pretty nice actually. It adds a bit of heft, but it's worth it since we can now get a full day of gaming off the system without recharging. Basically you drain the built in battery, then when it blinks you press the button on the extra battery and the gamepad thinks it's back on the charger, playing and recharging off the external battery...then if that runs out the gamepad has kept some of that charge as well. Got it at Toys r Us on clearance...I think it was the Nyko UBoost.
Another question. As for the Wii motes (not sure what the proper name is), should I be fine with my original Wii motes that came with my Wii system? As in, I don't need motion plus for any Wii U games, do I?
Only a few of the games in Nintendo Land require Plus - I know the Metroid one does and maybe it's the Zelda one. Otherwise it varies. My copies of Wheel or Fortune and Jeopardy don't need Plus...but others probably do.
You need Wiimotes for a lot of stuff - I use it with a Classic Pro to play Call of Duty multiplayer, Pikmin 3, Mario Kart multiplayer, any Mario multiplayer. Far from just "waggle" games.
And frankly, why is waggle a bad thing? I love a round of bowling every now and then.
There's basically no reason to ever use a Wii remote on the WiiU unless you either love waggle or want to play a Wii game.
Disagree. Pikmin 3 plays beautifully with wii remote and nunchuk.
And perfectly well with the controllers that come with the system, so there's no need for it. It can work perfectly well and not be actually necessary.
I've only have the one Wiimote with Plus (the Luigi one I got via a Best Buy Wii U bundle) and the rest we use are old ones. There's a few games in Nintendoland that need the MotionPlus as well as WiiU Sports Club.

Well, sure it plays well with just the GamePad, but when you have the remote and chuck, and the gamepad sitting on a stand in front of/beside you... well... it's a whole new experience. Can't play it any other way.
So, quick question. Does anyone know where I can pick up a classic controller pro (the Wii one) on the cheap? I was hoping to possibly pick one up while I still have the chance.

Super Mario Kart's battle mode is far superior to Mario Kart 8's. Fact.
almost wonder if they decided to short shrift it to get it out earlier.
Eh. It's a wash for me. SMK's actual battle arenas are better, but it's only 2 player max. At least in MK8 I can get a bunch of friends to play.

Yeah the gamepad and pro controllers are so damn good that I don't really want to have to use the remote.

That was the end of Wii... the waggle who killed my father, raped and murdered my sister, burned my ranch, shot my dog, and stole my Bible!

Neat little Wii U games trailer, both current and upcoming games are featured. I guess they made it for gamescom?

No. They've got a pretty decent showfloor presence from what I've heard but they're not doing any livestreams or stuff like that, as far as I know.
In Europe it is.

I think it might be the Smash Bros music lead-in, because I like the Lineup in the 2014-2015 trailer more.
