I decided to start with fraction's iron man run, because it seemed like everybody liked it

then I'll probably start looking for old x-men stuff

and read civil war again because fuck it, I'm a bad person

If your'e interested in GotG, this chart tells you what you need to read, and in roughly what order

    Linked for hugeness

    Welp

I know it'll make the nerds mad, and it's certainly a different direction for the character, but you all saw it.

    The Rock is playing Superman.

For those who have seen it, how violent is GotG? My kids see the trailers and want to know if they can see it.

I'd like to take them, but would probably have them wait if it's PG-13 the way Days of Future Past was.

age of apocalypse was the last x-men story that I really read in serial/comprehensive fashion, so I'll probably cherry pick good stuff from whatever came out after that.

There are a lot of faceless goons getting killed like they do in movies, but it's not SUPER violent besides that

There is one scene with Michael Rooker's character that involves a lot of goons getting run through with a knife, but as far as I can remember that's the worst it gets

I think it's mostly PG-13 for that one scene and they say "shit" 2 or 3 times

There's a lot of fighting, but it's pretty bloodless

    I think they'd be okay

Behind the spoiler tag is my two favorite music cues in the entire movie
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFDj3shXvco

David Bowie's Moonage Daydream plays when they get to Knowhere, and it's absolutely perfect for setting the mood for this super strange outlaw planet

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YI1zFQF-T8

and The Runaways' Cherry Bomb plays when the Guardians and the Ravagers are planning out their defense of Xander against Ronan

The former is my actual favorite one but the latter is also fantastic

    oh my god!

    oh wait wait wait wait

The very first scene of the movie is preeeeeeeeetty rough

Not even from any violence, just emotionally
a young Peter Quill is in the hospital room when his mom dies

    It's...pretty tough to watch

THAT might be the roughest part for a kid

I don't actually think Pepper is in it?

We knew Gweneth Paltrow was in the film last time

Plus unless she has a way bigger role I wouldn't call her prominent or major

Still holding out hope that Pepper still has her Extremis stuff without the side-effects

That would make a hell of a moment.

So I downloaded some of the DRM-free files from Comixology...if anyone was worried that they'd give a low-quality file or whatever, that's totally not the case. 1988x3056 resolution for a single page, two-page spreads are a single large image, and there are no visual watermarks anywhere. It's great.

    You're gonna want to read:

    Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men
    House of M
    Messiah Complex
    Matt Fraction's Uncanny X-Men
    Second Coming
    Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force
    Schism
    Kieron Gillen's Uncanny X-Men
Jason Aaron's Wolverine and the X-Men

Ultron: Puny humans! Your inability to obtain such simple a concept as gender equality is another sign of your inferiority as a species. Behold, my army is 50% comprised of female robots!

Hawkeye: They all look like dudebots to me.

Ultron: And that is why your species will fail.

[Outside Comic Con] The Pizza Thrower measures at 12 feet tall, 9 feet wide, and 16 feet long. It can go up to 75 miles per hour and can also fire off pizzas while moving via a 180-degree rotating tower (it can only move 5 to 10 mph while shooting though; no high-speed pizza throwing for you!).
