It's kind of unfair to pick Major Fleming. She's done so many other ready-access things (Film, TV, etc.) I mean, I could say Carolyn Seymour, but the same thing applies.
For people who primarily do VO, I'd go with Bailey and Cam Clarke.

Sounds interesting! I'm hoping they really make this villain memorable because the only great one they have so far(in my view) is the Arishok and that's mostly from a killer VA performance.
I guess Anders counts but he's so shitty about it..
I'm still skeptical of the actual need for a central villian, when they were actually doing a good job of setting up some not black and white (red and blue) conflicts with the civil war, and the mages/templars
(Also, I vote Laura Bailey. It never ceases to amuse me to hear the 'Wait, Jennifer Hale isn't in Saints Row 3 and 4?" conversations on gaming podcasts and the like.)
Bailey's Boss in SR3/4 is the only thing that would give me pause in crowning Hale, but then I think about how listless she sounds in Skyrim right now and I have second thoughts. Sure that's probably poor direction, but I'm not as familiar with other Bailey VG roles, whereas with Hale I remember Metal Gear, KoTOR, Eternal Darkness, etc. in addition to the obvious.
My major problem with Hale is that while she usually delivers a great performance, everyone sounds exactly the same. That's just not a problem Bailey has between Boss, Rise, Fetch, etc.
edit: and I know that's ironic since I said Baker was one of my favorite guy VAs but...to be honest I guess I just don't know as many by name. Plus he is great.

Sadly with the production values Bioware likes they can't make two branching stories to that extent, which you'd have to do to really sell the conflict. A central villain and tying the factions into the main campaign is going to work a lot better than the way Act 3 of DA2 shaped out.
Nevermind, I get it now because of your helpful bolding. It's not that the post is "creepy" it's that you are engaging in shaming of male sexuality and calling someone a creep is a quick dirty way to do that.
Hahahahaha what even? Public leering is creepy and makes me uncomfortable. I like talking about romance and sex, even in the context of DA, but tone is more than a little important, and specifically calling out her hot body and sexual skills comes across as shitty highfiving ones self over a sexual conquest which is a little objectifying, to say the least.
Whereas you talking about shaming male sexuality is just... What? I don't even?
On the topic of male versus female sexuality, there's this recent viral video on youtube where an average guy asks 200 women outright for sex, with abysmal success. Even a deliberately unattractive woman would outperform any male counterpart easily, given the same task - except maybe for male celebrities, I'd guess.
Beneath the pretentions of the civilized life of ours, trying to mate with as many partners as physically possible is very much in the nature of men, and it's not been until rather recently, that it's become somewhat en vouge to say it's not. The modern man acts as he does despite himself. Just look at the supposed mating habits of gay men, which are infamous for their outgoing sexual proclivities. That's practically pure male sexuality, mostly uninfluenced by the female way of doing things.
I'd say most men would love if women acted like gay men supposedly do sexually. If we could simply order up a motivated nice young fit bird to a toilet stall to satisfy our urges, for free and with no strings attached, like some gay men supposedly do on Grinder - we'd like that, like a lot, and we'd do it all the time.
As for my supposed *creepy* post, I just like to be precise. I could just have written that I find her *sexy*, and leave all those supposedly creepy things unsaid. That said, I don't think that being precise is ever *creepy* - I don't believe in *too much information*. I believe in honesty and clarity, and the pursuit thereof - at all cost.
What the fuck. This is gross. Please go to SE++ and read the feminism thread and hopefully gain a more healthy view of the world. Thanks.
A healthy view of the world is that there are countless ways to look at things. Why would my way be any worse than yours, or rather, why should yours be any better?
Because mine doesn't actively diminish the value of women or reduce men to instinct-based sexual predators, probably.
How does the objectification of women actively diminish the value of women? I don't see that one at all. Even if males tend to objectify females, how does that affect who you are, and what you are capable of? And don't females do the same thing with attractive males? Does female adoration diminish men? Another word for pretty much the same thing is *Idolization*. The problem lies mostly in the negative perception of the *Objectification of Women*.
I believe most people want to be objectified in one way or another. To become more than a mere man or woman. Simply put, to be successful in one's chosen role in life - and thus to be taken seriously. It's easy to see how sexual objectification can be perceived to be a hinderance to that goal. Especially professionally. However - I don't think that men are to blame for it, since the problem, for me, lies in the negative perception of it, rather than the sexual objectification itself.
Unwanted sexual objectification is hard to understand for many men, because of fundamental discrepancies between male and female sexuality. The fewest men ever experience it, and men are less likely to mind it too. I think rather than fighting these discrepancies and the resulting misunderstandings with the ferocious hostility that many feminists display, it's about intelligent design accounting for these differences.
Instead of wasting energy on bickering, we should figure out how to use the sexual dynamic between man and woman to drive mutual success and satisfaction. Seeing how currently the institution of marriage is failling at a rate of over 50%, and it having been that *the solution* for countless generations past, we now are in a phase of restructuring the sexual and societal relationship of man and woman. In this process, I feel like many *feminists* lack any regard and respect for the male nature. This ignorance will not lead us to sound solutions.
Your *feminist* way is about repressing and ultimately altering male sexuality, which you will ultimately succeed in, since sexually, you are the dominant gender. You'll simply breed it out of us. It doesn't mean I have to like it. Or that it can be retroactively bred out of me. I am who I am. I was born this way. I am all for equality and mutual respect - however, I don't think sexual objectivication is a problem. It's a perceived slight, and it's not constructive at all to focus on a symptom, rather than the cause of the illness.
P.S. Nowhere do I imply that instinct is the sole purpose that drives us men, I only clarify the nature of the male sex drive. Monogamy ain't it.

She does a lot of JRPG and anime stuff, which might be a factor in the not knowing.
I first noticed Bailey in Fire Emblem Awakening. She voiced one of the leads, I was impressed, and that lead to remembering she did the boss in Saint's Row 3 and 4, and I had 3 already unplayed from a steam sale, and why not try and see if you could do a version of the character in the SR3 character creator for kicks?
Turned out there was a mission to play first, and that was fun, and then to really try things out I'd need to buy something from the clothing shops, and then it was 3 in the morning, and I was in love with Saints Row forever.
If you want to see range, though, look up the King's Game scene from the Persona 4 anime. She plays Rise in that. The bubbly pop star.

For me it was BloodRayne.
The fact is there are so many really good VAs out there.
I like the more artistic style they're using for character portraits and the select screen, though I hope you can just have all those cards splayed out and click-enlarge the ones you choose rather than scroll through them every time.
I try to keep my anti-Morrigan rants to a quarterly thing. I'm consistent like that, unlike Morrigan.

If we side with the mages, I wonder if you can get Cullen to leave.
Since apparently thats one of the things you can resolve in this one. He'll probably just sit in his corner of the fort and just stew about it. Maybe write me an angry letter about it or something.

Nah, Cullen isn't the bit character with his tail between his robes that we met in the Mages Tower in DA:O. He's matured as a templar and a character since then in DA2 and probably here as well. He might not always have the best ideas or motives, but his heart is in the right place and he'll be willing to fight for his ideals and be compelled by sound reason where necessary.
If mages are going crazy and the Chantry along with it, maybe he will too, but I feel like he's got a better head on his shoulders then that.
On a completely different subject: disappointed at how typical evil the villain sounds. Not surprised. But disappointed.
He sounds like an abomination version of the Collector leader.
Golden outline in the trailer made him sort of look like one of the darkspawn leaders like The Architect or Corypheus. Assuming thats him/her/it.
I miss the Architect, what a strange character. Corypheus seemed to be kind of a dickhead, if "the elder one" is another one of these guys, hopefully he's abit more noble albeit misguided like Archie was.
P.S. Nowhere do I imply that instinct is the sole purpose that drives us men, I only clarify the nature of the male sex drive. Monogamy ain't it.

Grossly simplified - the male's sexual nature is to spread the seed. The female's sexual nature is to find a worthy mate. You'll certainly have no problem finding mainstream scientific literature backing this basic point of view. From anthropology to psychology to zoology. It's not outlandish to see it that way.
Of course many people live *Monogamy*, and live it well, but just because it works for them, and works well too, doesn't mean it's in our base nature. Before we became men, we were pubescent boys after all - so let's not forget how that was. Our untamed horny nature. Who we become beyond that, is *Nurture* for the most parts.
Nurture can only do that much. To deny one's nature completely can't be good for you. Ever.
I thought Awakening, and the Architect were meant to kind of resolve the whole Blight thing, so that going forward it would be clear that the [overarching] DA storyline is not about blights and darkspawn.
-edit-
Also, I'm sorry I contributed to the tangent but it's way way past due for this conversation to move to an appropriate thread, such as the SE++ feminism thread that was already linked.
I thought Awakening, and the Architect were meant to kind of resolve the whole Blight thing, so that going forward it would be clear that the [overarching] DA storyline is not about blights and darkspawn.
It didn't really change the blight status quo though, it just introduced a faction of intelligent darkspawn. The dumb ones still exist and wander the roads.
The dragons are still hidden in the deep roads waiting to be corrupted for the next blight and darkspawn are still causing as much havoc as they ever did.
I cannot get over how ridiculous the hair on that guy looks. I will basically not be able to have him in my party because that mop looks so ridiculous and fake and weird and what

I was under the impression that the events of Awakening saw the eradication of the bulk of what darkspawn remained in Ferelden.

It did on the surface anyway.
The Darkspawn make their home in the deep roads and the old dwarven thaigs, they're pretty much impossible to stomp out it seems. Another blight in a future game is unlikely without a big time jump but now that there are both intelligent and evil darkspawn, I suppose anything is possible.
Although I remember the evil ones could no longer hear the song so I doubt they would be able to use their enhanced brains to speed up the search if they no longer have the way they initially sniffed out where the dragons were. Assuming thats how they found them, I forget the details of what exactly that was.
Will probably take the dumb dumbs another 200 years or something.

If the darkspawn could have been created through means outside of rape, ITT he would have worked better. He wanted the survival of a race whose survival depends on the horrific.
ITT if BIO was willing to go fullsteam ahead into weird fantasy territory, he might have a place. Otherwise it's a bit "ehhh". Meaning interesting but I don't think it quite works.

Is there any evidence that the architect forced women to become broodmothers?
Seems like he was focusing on saving the darkspawn that already existed.

No, but didn't he want his race to continue to survive? As opposed to all darkspawn just going off to their own private sector of the underground and waiting till they all die out. Maybe playing bridge as they wait it out. That would mean by extension broodmothers would have to be made, unless I missed some vital detail.

He wanted to save the darkspawn from their mindless existence and rampages, that was the main gist of his message. I don't remember anything specifically about him wanting to breed more for a glorious empire/new civilization or if he already had broodmothers in his service that were turned before he found them for that matter.
We have no idea the life span of a darkspawn either. Being unnatural creatures of strange origin, I wouldn't be surprised if they aged very slowly if at all.
I'm not saying it's not possible that he did create more, I just think he's ambiguous enough to spin it either way.
I really hope Bioware releases more info on the remaining specializations before the game comes out. I really, really want to know more about the Rift Mage.

That's because of the great Baker-North exclusivity pact of 2004. The rest of the male VA talent was upset, but what could they do? The ink was dried.
(Also I'm throwing Grey DeLisle in as an honorable mention.)
You might remember him for his role in everything as everybody.

You're still focusing on women as objects.
By referring to the "Value" of women, you're exhibiting the attitude that they are a resource, and not a body of people with rights and agency.
And by objectifying women on such a mass scale as men tend to do, this has the effect of limiting the rights and freedoms that women have in society.
And I'm gonna stop here because this doesn't need to dominate the thread any more than it has already.
Fear not!
