Now the real question: how OP (if at all) is he this time?
There's at least two things working against him already:
1) Shuttle Loop was one of Meta-Knight's big kill moves, and an especially important one due to its near-instantaneous deploy time and huge attack box. If this has been weakened such that, say, the stronger attack is on the second loop (meaning if you connect with the first loop, you knock the enemy away prematurely), then Meta-Knight is going to have to work for his best kill move.
2) The loss of the glide on Shuttle Loop (and gliding generally) robs Meta-Knight of his particularly insane recovery abilities; he won't be able to just camp the bottom of the stage or the top of the screen to run the clock whenever he likes.
It doesn't necessarily prevent him from being a disjointed hitbox monster the way he was in Brawl, but I suspect this isn't the last change he's received, either.

My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.
The design itself is awesome, but it's a shame that it's a XL.
I know you have a preference towards the OG 3DS but go ahead and accept now they are done releasing new models/SKUs of it. Until they announce the 3DS lite... which they kinda already did.

Under his brooding exterior, today's character is actually a pretty swell guy.
I know this because I never Meta Knight I didn't like.
So, today, Sakurai shows us a picture of a Cusomizable Robot.
I speak, of course, of
Mega Man, and his custom special moves.
Pic of the day. Here's Beat! And Plant Barrier!! These are some of Mega Man's custom special moves. You might also be able to use some signature boss-like moves from the Mega Man series, too.
In all seriousness, this is exactly what I wanted.

I totally called Beat as a custom move to replace Rush. It makes perfect sense (and honestly, they can probably just reuse the same code from Olimar's recovery). Guesses for others: Rush Jet, Item #1 (Mega Man 2), Magnet Beam, Wire (from Mega Man 4 - could work like Link's Claw Shot)
Plant Barrier is goofy though. I mean, guess they need an alternative to Leaf Barrier so there are only a couple to choose from. So Plant Barrier's difference will be you can't throw it, but you can run around with it I'd assume.
Which means the other possibilities are: Skull Barrier, Star Crash, Junk Shield, Jewel Satellite, and Water Shield. If I had to guess, I'd say Jewel Satellite might be a good candidate - not only to get a Mega Man 9 weapon in there, but also because it reflects projectiles so that makes for a good difference from Leaf Shield (and it's similar to what characters like Fox have already). Junk Shield might also be interesting, since you only lose pieces of it at a time (and the pieces disperse in different directions). I have a feeling Skull Barrier is out since I'm pretty sure it's identical to Plant Barrier (even though it's not stupid and pink like Plant Barrier :P)
For his other recovery, remember that non-Palutena-or-Mii custom specials seem to use the same animations. Even Beat has Mega Man in the same jumping pose he uses for Rush Coil.
Tornado Blow could work, as could Jet Adapter.

If they are going to the trouble of modeling Beat, I don't think they are super concerned with animation. Most of these wouldn't even need unique animation. In the NES games he just uses the same "throwing" animation as other weapons. So they could re-use Metal Blade's animation probably. I think the only one on my list that doesn't apply to is Wire, which was a long shot anyways.
Edit: Actually I'm banking on it being Rush Jet. It's one of the most iconic Rush forms, and it fits custom moves perfectly by changing Mega Man's completely vertical recovery to a completely horizontal one. Beat in then the middle ground of the two (you can move vertical and horizontal, but probably not for as long, or slower, or something)
If they are going to the trouble of modeling Beat, I don't think they are super concerned with animation.
And yet they did decide to have Mega Man retain his Rush Coil pose while being carried by Beat.
Similarly, Rosalina's Guardian Luma keeps the same wand-waving animation from the gravity pull move it replaces.
But his Rush Coil pose IS his Beat pose. Mega Man is very conservative with its animations, and since Sakurai is duplicating the NES animations, that makes things much easier :P
Edit: Also screw the internet - how are there NO screenshots of Beat carrying Mega Man anywhere on Google? (well, aside from the fact he only did it in Mega Mans 7, 9, and 10 I guess... not the most emulated...)

Exactly. Beat was the perfect choice to do a different recovery while retaining the same animation on Mega Man himself.
Here's kind of what I'm thinking, since these weapons play kind of similarly:
Neutral: Metal Blade, Shadow Blade or Ring Boomerang (shorter range, boomerangs, either more powerful or passes through targets), Ballade Cracker (slower, explodes)
Side: Crash Bomber, Remote Mine (not as powerful, homes a bit), Flash Bomb (persistent explosion a la Smart Bomb on contact)
Down: Leaf Shield, Plant Barrier (doesn't launch when Mega Man moves, but dissipates when hit with a projectile or player), Water Shield (each bubble is its own object, can be launched in a spiral)
Up: Rush Coil, Beat (slow, directable flight), Tornado Hold (fairly slowly lifts Mega Man, eats projectiles)

They should either fully colour the characters or keep it completely black and white, I'm pretty sure either would look better than this.

Metal blade ,Search snake, laser Trident
Crash bomb, that bomb from mm9, grenade mans weapon
Leaf sheild,plant sheild, water shield
R.coil,Beat, Rush Jet/magnet beam
From Mega Man 10:
(homes into targets but doesn't stick)
Also I'd guess Napalm Bomb for the other (doesn't stick, bounces).
Metal Blade could literally be anything that is a projectile :P Edit: OH, but Rolling Cutter for sure!
Exactly. Beat was the perfect choice to do a different recovery while retaining the same animation on Mega Man himself.

Peach's hip check, toad
Marth's sword dance
zelda's nayru/din moves
yoshi's eating
samus's bomb
Have to say, I'm mighty tempted.
Samus could possibly drop a Power Bomb, or maybe activate a persisting Morph Ball state instead of dropping anything.

Why not? There are several examples of items that are also used in people's attacks. Baseball bat, ray gun and screw attack jump to mind off hand.
