Seeing around corners isn't a huge advantage. You could do the same thing in Halo by using turrets/heavy weapons and it was never 'abused' there.
That's because you needed a Heavy Weapon/Turret which gave a disadvantage to go along with the advantage AND the radar in Halo was more precise plus didn't show the player if they were camping a control point so there was less of a need to do it.
In this game, you show up even if standing still and there is less information on the radar about the incoming attacking player.
Honestly I didn't see many people dancing in the beta, I think some of y'all are blowing this out of proportion.
We're talking about 6 days of play in which exploits like this didn't have time to fully develop/catch on. This happens in every competitive game where high level play develops. Players are going to abuse everything at their disposal to gain any type of advantage. Then once its considered an advantage, players who aren't doing it will be killed by it and then have to adapt to doing it as well. I can easily see dancing/sitting being considered a "pro" tactic to see around corners. At higher levels, dudes are gonna be toggling dancing like crazy while defending/attacking.
Its not a matter of if it will happen, its just a matter of how much of an advantage or how annoying it will be.
FWIW, I am for keeping dancing in the game and PvP. They should just do something to make it so peeps don't toggle it on and off constantly to abuse the 3rd person view it gives.
edit: And this is a pretty obnoxious totp, now I am done talking about it.
Having also spent the last 10 years playing the Halo games and other competitive FPS, I find the devs are usually better at balancing their games than we are. Dancing to see around corners is not a huge advantage. And if Bungie thought it was, you wouldn't be able to gesture at all in PVP.
When 343 took over Halo Reach from Bungie, they really fucked with a ton of balance things, which alienated me and a bunch of other people. Applying the competitive fan feedback can sometimes do more harm than good. You can speculate on how it will be abused, but really I like it and think it adds to the game, the way it is. IMO we should be able to dance and run at the same time for maximum style points.
My only worry about dancing in PvP is that it lets players effectively see around corners. So they could dance while guarding an objective to see around a wall and tell exactly where an enemy is coming from without having to put themselves in danger. Since 1v1 battles in PvP are won by who gets the jump first, this could become a major issue that "pro" players will abuse like crazy.
Doesn't sound like a con to me really. If this whole thing goes esports I'd love to see that in matches.
I think we should name ourselves KCHS and do nothing but line dance in every Crucible match.

It would be pretty easy to tweak dancing in pvp slightly to effectively remove the advantage. Lock the 3rd person camera closer to the player, cancel it if they move the camera around, and add a half second or so delay before regaining control of their character when they do. Something like that would be enough.
I'd rather see a debuff applied for crouching multiple times in a row, something like sore back make you move at 50% speed and suffer 1000% extra damage...
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Having spent the last 31 years playing video games, many of which were FPSes, I have to say that dancing is all too rare a feature. Sure, many MMOs have had dancing but did Heretic? Could I turn my deathmatch enemy into a chicken and then do the chicken dance? No. I feel like Heretic was a good game but it could have been better with dancing. Also, Dark Souls has a lot of emotes but no dancing. That is fucked. I have never seen a message like "Bravery required ahead; therefore, try dancing" in Dark Souls and the game is much worse for it. Dancing had better be in Bloodborne.

Dancing should carry a 0.01% chance of self-immolation.

So, have we heard anything about microtransactions yet? The "Special orders" vendor makes me think there'll be some, because otherwise I'm not sure what you'd go to her for.

Honestly, I'd be all for a Path of Exile-style microtransaction shop, where I can buy fancy skins, shaders, and emotes. There's some cool effects on the Exotic Gear, and I'd totally throw a few bucks towards things like that to be applied to legendaries and such.

Grenades now cost 5 cents per. But wait, you can get 100 for $1*! Stock up!
It's either that or monthly fees. It can be done without breaking the game. Like Temp boons and material for upgrading weapons. Just don't sell rare weapons and armors.

According to the IGN tour of the tower, that vendor is for the Bungie guys and gals to directly reward players for contests and community stuff. Although it's certainly within the realm of possibility to make it a microtransaction vendor.

Right now, it's for Quest rewards you didn't pick up and Public Event rewards. I imagine that it could also be used for picking up DLC packages as well.
I transfer bullets and knives to players all the time.

One think I was kinda happy to find out was that those Engrams are always for your class (when you decode them) and usually at least your level (I've seen them higher level, but I don't think I've seen them lower).
The kicker (and the part that made me happy) is that it doesn't matter what class found it. I took a bunch of Engrams I had found on my level 5 Hunter, stuck em in the bank, and then decoded them with my level 8 Warlock. Everything was for a Warlock and around his level (though sometimes 9 or 10).
edit- Basically if you want to twink a character, Engrams are the way to go.

Alternatively: If you have an alt to level with a buddy but don't want to waste progress on your main, just pass all your Engrams back up.

So getting to play the beta for a couple of days was cool. Destiny is annoyingly derivative in many ways, but it's solid and fun where it counts.
That makes me want to buy it, but I don't have the budget for a next-gen console right now, and probably won't until 2015. So if I do play Destiny it will be on the 360. Will any PA people be doing the same?
Currently Playing:
The Division, Warframe (XB1)

I'm sure there will be plenty of poors on the lesser systems who purchase this game that looks amazeballs on next gen and comes with free blowjobs and a certificate you aren't poor.

I believe each console is seperated, unless activision found some tech they didn't use for COD. Now your account will transfer between both or did during beta according to some posters.

The consoles are all separated. Bungie has said that it wouldn't be fair for someone who shows up as a small dot on the PS3 player's screen to be able to take down PS3 players who look like guardians on the PS4 player's screen.

Yup, and making it a little longer in MP would more or less fix any potential exploiting issues.
