I'd say IM3 is on par with the first one, although for different reasons. The second one was just a mess.

Lawrenceburg, Indiana (not to be confused with bourbon-locale Lawrenceburg, Kentucky) is home to a massive brick complex that cranks out mega-industrial quantities of beverage-grade alcohol. The factory, once a Seagram distillery, has changed hands over the decades and was most recently acquired by food-ingredient corporation MGP. It is now a one-stop shop for marketers who want to bottle their own brands of spirits without having to distill the product themselves. MGP sells them bulk vodka and gin, as well as a large selection of whiskies, including bourbons of varying recipes, wheat whiskey, corn whiskey, and rye. (They also make “food grade industrial alcohol” used in everything from solvents and antiseptics to fungicides.) Their products are well-made, but hardly what one thinks of as artisanal. And yet, much of the whiskey now being sold as the hand-crafted product of micro-distilleries actually comes from this one Indiana factory.

Spider-man, Fantastic Four, and X-Men, while being marvel properties, do not really count when we are talking "marvel movies" because Marvel Pictures doesn't actually have anything to do with those properties.

the sheer badness of iron man 2 was the reason i had to cajole frankie so much before she agreed to watch iron man 3

and even in that diminished context iron man 3 was horrible.

the credits rolled and all i could do was apologise.

insult to injury was that we watched it on itunes and the rental got charged to her account.

Considering how often you've told us how terrible her taste in movies is, I'm not sure what you are hoping to accomplish with this line of argument. :p

Yeah, I'd rank IM2 above Hulk and maybe around Thor. Though the two have completely different issues.

I'd have to watch the two again to be certain.

Will I feel as if we watched two different movies, because I can understand someone not liking Iron Man 3. I get a lot of the criticism, even! Like people who feel there wasn't enough iron man. I get that. But you act as if it was a snuff film and I don't see it at all.

That doesn't necessarily mean it's inferior just because it's only a bottling. For instance, whistle pig started growing their own rye and building their own distillery, but wanted to get selling right away so bought up various distilled canadian straight ryes and blending them to a product they found to meet their standards.
