So after some time with State of Decay, I can confirm it's a good game? The survival-ism is pretty sweet, requiring searching for different interest areas on top of tall vantage points a la AssCreed, limited cargo space, scarce ammo and weapons, noise is a huge issue, etc... It's really stressful gameplay. Like, I hate the way I feel investigating places by myself. So they're doing something right.
I'm not really into the house management part yet. I don't understand what yellow numbers mean, or if I should be getting certain resources or not? I assume if I'm like 25/25 on something I'm good and don't need it. Also the girl on the radio is spewing out events waaay faster than I can do them, which makes me upset that I can't do all of them or save every person. Finally, the people they put on the sniper's perch aren't exactly sharpshooters. I came back one night and there were zombies inside the camp while everyone was inside, and the guy on the tower was just firing away hitting nothing.
Other than that, the game is pretty buggy. Zombies sometimes spawn inside places you just cleared seconds before, which is annoying because you waste precious bullets or melee durability. I spent almost 30 bullets trying to clear out this warehouse, which had a pack of 5 zombies in it that spawned 4+ times. I also recruited Marcus to come help me on a quest at this farm, which turned out against my knowledge to be a protect this area quest, and he just disappeared before it started? This left me scrambling to fight hordes of zombies with barely any ammo and no melee weapon.
I am enjoying it though, and it has a great hold on the survival aspect of the apocalypse which is good. I'll probably keep playing it but I can't play it for more than a couple hours without getting frustrated or just stressed out lol.
Yeah. Missions are 'solo only'. So don't recruit anybody to go with you unless you're just planning on looking around for shit. Nothing was more surprising than driving down a street, totally unconcerned about a mission off to the side when the game decided I entered the trigger zone and took away my partner and forced me into the mission.
State of Decay is a decent game that is trying to...liven up...the zombie genre. It's flawed, but it's a start. It just happens to be good enough to prevent people from automatically pooh-poohing it. Too many games with promising concepts are cast aside for being less than perfect or not what was expected.
25/25 means you're full of something. As in you can't realistically store more. Not sure why the game allows you to go over the limit so I don't know what kind of waste function the game has. But being full generally means you don't need to worry about getting more at that time.
The way the game doles out missions is similar to how Dead Rising did it. Though I don't think it's tied to a specific time but rather whether or not you've completed certain other missions or checklist items. However, unlike DR which gives you a clear indication of how long you have to complete a mission, SoD doesn't. But it's about two or three in-game days and then the event is resolved on its own (for good or ill).
I've liked what I've played, but I don't care for the 'time skip' if you save and quit and play later. It makes me rather play the game in an all-day binge rather than in fits and starts when I get a chance. But I'm on board more or less with it. Especially considering I'm so over the zombie genre that it's almost literally an automatic disqualification for gaming consideration. (As in, practically any zombie presentation gets considered for avoidance.)
Yeah, I pretty much stopped playing it because of the time skip since I just moved with the RV and held off in playing for a day.
Now I am screwed out of my resources. Surrounded by the undead in the worst location.
That said, before the move, I had the arsenal of a small militia and enough supplies to choke down the state of Mississippi.
It was immensely gratifying...

From what I remember reading earlier in the thread, that it isn't like the previous two games. As in, the combat system is fun, but it's not the ARPG loot-a-thon that most Diablo clones are, or have many/any of the hallmarks of the series past its backstory/humor. Also that it doesn't really bring anything new to the ARPG concept (which can be just fine or detrimental, depending on your outlook).
So in other words a fun game, just probably not fun enough for a new, full priced game. Something to get later or on sale.
Pretty muchs It started as a Diablo clone with a really great skill system and an open world packed with quests to find and suddenly it's a mangled God of War clone.
The only thing Kalnaur is wrong about is it's most assuredly not fun. The reviews coming in are trashing it. It's really really bad. No loot, no levelling, no RPG to speak of at all; you have two moves per character and all you do is spam the attack button if the reviews are to be believed.
Again the "real" Sacred 3 will be called Unbended *snicker* and you can see more about it here: http://www.unbended.zone/en/
I have played it, I disagree about it not being fun.
Combat is nice and fast paced, having a great time jumping around the battlefield as a Seraphim.
I have not run into any bugs and the game seems competently put together
My initial concerns about the length of the game look to be unfounded as the map screen has a whole lot of levels listed, looks like it will take a while to do them all.
Really from what I have seen so far it seems like its only sin is to not be like Sacred 1 or 2, its a brawler now instead of a loot focused ARPG
as for only 2 moves? you have a weak fast attack and a heavy block breaking attack, + 2 special moves you set (chosen from a pool of 10ish) that can be upgraded/customised as you level.
EDIT: forgot there is also a dodge/block depending on which you decide to take. again both with upgrades.
Got an email a few hours ago while I was out—EVOLVE alpha access (which I forgot I signed up for), apparently beginning yesterday and going until tomorrow.
I just plugged my goodwill acquired wingmang force 3d ($15 plus $5 for a powerpack from RE-PC), the configuration software popped up and for a moment, I was considering using my stick on a @Kalnur level of control.
What do you do when a game is not downloadable (though you have a digital copy) and has no store pages, no fan pages, few amazon copies, and the company no longer knows it exists?
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

I was totally gonna restart State of Decay (thanks again @Pixelated Pixie) this weekend now that I understand managing resources much better. And also play some Firefall. Then it hit 105+ the last few days and in my super energy inefficient building I didn't want to turn on the PC. I even took a nap Friday to stay up late and play. It was still over 100 at 10 that night. I think I might get some games in tomorrow morning? It feels cooler now.
But to get to the point, I kinda want to fire up my old save first now just to see how catastrophic things have become.
Now i want to try to work some of these into actual words. Unflexination has a nice ring to it. As does dearchified. Hrmm...dearchifaction...the process of removing an arch from something? His feet dearchified as he put on the pounds? An incident involving a crane operator hopped up on crank and a goat with a grudge to bear led to the untimely dearchification (dearchifaction?) of the Hoan Bridge?

It won't be bad. The time skip thing was severely nerfed a while back. It caps at a certain point now... I forget if it's 24 hours? Anyway, it is pretty much a non-factor now.
Thanks everyone who stopped by and enjoyed hearing me freak the frack out in Ravenholm! On the plus side, I got the Zombie Chopper achievement (use only the Gravity Gun in Ravenholm). Now I never have to play that again.
Alright, BL2 is finally (finally!) starting to flow for me. On a related note, thanks to @iolo for keeping an eye on me as I ran around like a mad thing with my MurderBot and got repeatedly slaughtered by Lion King characters...
ETA: It appears Amazon UK has AC: IV for £8.99 (~$12) if that's of use to anyone. I'm *assuming* UPlay, because I can read now and it says so. Ubisoft, but it doesn't state that in the product desc.
So I'm currently on a shittily run Chinese (not racist) bus tour (the company is apparently owned by the host of this Chinese game show my parents like to watch) of the greater Vancouver area, and I took a bit of time today to draft up a verse of a Steam related parody version of Rupert Holmes' "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" on hotel stationary
Edit: it's tentatively called "Portal: No Escape (The Pina Colada Song)", because I'm not funny or original
It might be the fact that I have been sitting on a rickety bus for far too long today, with another week to go, but I am considering either posting the lyrics when I'm back at a computer, or just recording it on like SoundCloud or something instead for the hell of it, because I remembered I have a Blue Snowball mic I barely ever use and a guitar I hardly play anymore.
Anyway, I only brought a phone and I might be getting reamed by my phone carrier for using internet, but I just felt like you should know. Also, Vancouver is pretty and apparently full of rich people. I saw the evil lair from that movie Beyond the Black Rainbow or something. It's just a green house.

I started playing some Gear Up after a friend suggested it to me as he knows I enjoy Loadout and he sold me on it with the description of "Loadout with tanks".
It's early-access, but you can't argue with the price. Any PA'ers want to give it a try sometime? It's cheap quick fun.
I kinda can't believe it is real and people are as generous as @Pixelated Pixie! Now I just need to wait for the kids to nap this afternoon and see all my games, but way prettier! Thank you so much!
The Sacred games were fun because it was Diablo that wasn't up its own ass with seriousness. Gameplay aside, the structure of Sacred 2 is more similar to Skyrim or Amalur than Diablo or Titan Quest.
I was really looking forward to 3. Then they made the gameplay look terrible and the humor even worse. It's a shame.
Just a quick thank you to @Dirtyboy who gifted me LEGO MARVEL Super Heroes during the last sale. I finally managed to play it with my son and he has done nothing except talk about it and the characters since. Cheers dude!

Both Viking and Badwrong mentioned having fun with it, though Badwrong did toss in that if you try to think of it as as Sacred game, well, it isn't. But as simply a game, both folks mentioned around a $20 dollar price tag that the game was more worthy of, and that the combat system was pure fun.

This month, however, will bring us PAX Prime. As this is a month of games, I will celebrate by giving away games with other games inside them!
To begin, I'm giving away a copy of Triple Triad.
Of course, in order to do this, I have to give away a copy of Final Fantasy 8.
