Zero had a bunch of cool ideas that kinda crystallized in Rev2. Might be tough going back to it though. It's in a weird middle ground of complexity. Not as simple as REmake, not as well developed as Rev2. Still tho, that whole train section is fantastic, would love to play it again!
Also whoo! Hopefully this is building up to RE2make.
...it might just be building up to Gamecube Version Of RE2 Gets Ported To Steam. But I can dream, right?
Can't wait for everyone to re-remember how bad Zero was.
Zero's intro is fantastic!
Everything past the train is blech. But dat whole opening sequence is worth it IMO!
Also it's real dumb from a storytelling perspective that Rebecca survives this whole thing and then ends up in the Mansion where she's still an incapable babby.

Yeah I actually really like the whole train sequence. Everything after that feels kinda derivative of other games, and the plot is bad (not in a good way either), but I still played the shit out of it.
I actually never finished CVX (I own it on Gamecube) and RE0 (also on Gamecube). I'm pretty saddened by that.

So I'm tooling around with the PRL weapon in RE4. Never unlocked it before, guessing it's a newer thing added to the PS2 or the Wii versions maybe?
This thing is fuckin' busted. Not only is it a one shot, but it auto targets every enemy within line of sight, including off screen, as long as there's no walls in between ya. It also targets traps. :O
Oh brilliant

Yeah, in the PS2 version they added that and put Aahley in a heavy suit of armor (so heavy she can't be lifted) if you play on "Very Easy" mode.

Well, as has been illustrated, Capcom has no fucking money currently. So I'm a wee bit skeptical unless "exploring" means begging Sony or Microsoft for funding in exchange for console exclusivity.
That is actually possible, considering Sony is already co-developing Street Fighter 5. They're already in bed with Sony. Getting money from them for RE2Make would be a fairly logical extension of their current business agreement.
as long as they keep the fixed camera angles. maybe add in an option to for 3rd person too just to say "fuck yeah its 2015 motherfuckers, pre-renders are real-renders!" or such nonsense
Can't wait for everyone to re-remember how bad Zero was.
Yeah I played it when it first came out and have zero nostalgia. Most of the new ideas were poorly implemented and the series was pretty stale at the point.
I think it's tough when the first game in the series is the apex, design wise.
Well that's neat. I've never truly played RE2, so a remake in the same vein as RE1 with modern controls will be right up my alley.
I just cannot play tank controls. I've tried many times. Just can't do it. My muscle memory is so ingrained with modern controls that tank controls make me frustrated and quit.

I know a certain ginger is uncharacteristically happy today...
Surprised they seem to be just starting tho! You never see some guy just tweet out his pitch to his bosses, almost blackmailing them into going ahead with it via the public response? I assumed that was all PR goofiness, manufactured 'leaks' and all. Seems like they're just legit going now tho.
Even though I've played RE2 like a bajillionzillion times. I am for serious still going to be terrified of some of the Birkin encounters. Like the one on the lift? Where you're trapped in that little space? Yeesh.
OMG B Story Tyrant. BUSTING THROUGH WALLS IN HD OMG /stroke.
REmake Zero? REmake 2? Spaniard, you're fired :P RE Zero HD isn't a remake, it's just a remaster. And RE2make is the bestest name for the RE2 Remake.
Anyway, I've not been a fan of this idea for a while but I will say that of everyone who could've done it, it has by far the best chance of actually being good with Kobayashi in charge. He did a good job remastering REmake but more importantly, he's been involved with the RE series since the very first one. I'm still keeping my expectations fairly low though, because this just doesn't have the same things going for it that REmake did (original director, most of the RE staff still together, prior to the RE4 shooter fanbase, etc).
So is Capcom making ANY genuinely new games besides Street Fighter 5 at this point?
Monster Hunter X, Dragon's Dogma Online and Deep Down. Probably DMC5 and RE7 as well.
Which isn't a heck of a lot compared to years past.
I mean, I'm glad the're doing something else, but four games is pretty weak.
I'm sure they've got a number of other projects in the works too, especially in mobile, but we probably won't hear about or remember most of them (I only just remembered that Breath of Fire 6 is a thing). From what I understand, Capcom banked heavily on mobile a few years ago and everything flopped, which is why Dead Rising 3, Street Fighter V and the focus on remasters have happened.

Make it so, Capcpom.

Maybe...
I wouldn't even be mad at this.

Capcom Says 'Yes' To Resident Evil 2 Remake

Wow, Capcom polling and listening to fans via Facebook is producing rewarding results. Who would have thought?

Lisa Trevor was one hell of an unpleasant surprise in the REmake and I hope they do something similar for this

They'll start with RE6 as a basis.

Is that really "new", or is that the joke?

It's not a remake/remaster, so yeah.
