Wins in Versus mode now award 30 Gold each, down from 40.
Losses in Versus now award 20 Gold each, up from 10.
That last one makes me concerned about the idea of factory lining losses when you get matched with that one type of player who rolls over like a submissive pet whenever they encounter a challenge. Hopefully there will be a more robust method of reporting this kind of player, because you can't really track this kind of player automatically like you can with a habitual afker or ditcher.
No sprint on stitches is a good nerf i think. And Hammer isn't totally fucking gamebreaking anymore, which is nice. Looking forward to playing Chen this weekend.
Gold generation isn't worse, it's 50/200/300% higher if you play enough to finish the dailies. Good change for me, since when i do play (though not much recently, busy!) i tend to play for a few hours.
edit: also good to see the slime dot removed, that was so brutal for characters like nova and zera while doing almost nothing against tankier characters.
I shouldn't necessarily have said worse, maybe "harder to complete". I mean, it's worse for me, subjectively, because of how I play. I play pretty casually. I don't play every single day, and when I do play I'll do 2-4 games and call it. It's not uncommon for me to log in and have 3 daily quests sitting there.
With the new daily quests, it makes it that much harder to complete them. Especially the 8 games one, I can't even call that a "daily quest" for me anymore. If you're the kind of person that plays a lot, every day, then I'm sure this is great for you. But for casual players it's not good.

But your per game gold generation would be the same. They just increased the values. If before you finished a win daily every day and got 200 gold, and it took you 3 days to do it, well, you still got 200 gold a day. Which is still probably too low but i can't really find a way that it's worse.
also just remove whirlwind and replace it, no idea what to do with that shit.

It's worse for people that play casually, as mentioned above, because it's less likely they'll complete their dailies, so they'll miss out on gold.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me much. I don't care right now about how much gold I have.
I'm just a bit confused at where Blizzard is going with this. The original design of the game seemed great, a good game for casuals with enough depth for the more dedicated players. But a lot of their patches since then seem to be going in the opposite direction. I'm beginning to wonder if they know where they're going.
Re artifacts: they have no idea what direction they are going in.
Comments along with these changes as to why would go a big way, blizzard seems to feel like they can do no wrong essentially seems and maybe there is always enough fun in their products matter how they Fuck up
From a UI improvement standpoint, each patch has generally been fantastic and made improvements.
From a Gold/Progression/Economy standpoint, each patch has been worse than the last. They are obviously focus testing their miser limits. How absolutely stingy can they possibly be before their community breaks.

Hey just be thankful they weren't smart enough to program their character models with specific slot customization rather than full skins, or we'd be going full on DOTA2 grab bag packs.
So casuals (like myself) will get to buy a new hero every... 2 months on pure gold?
Maybe less than that depending on how often you play :P
I mean, 6-ish heroes that change every week is good enough for me. I will enjoy the game with just that. But it doesn't stop me from giggling at their current pricing, etc.
Follow-up thought: Kerrigan has been nerfed in almost every single patch. There's not going to be anything left of her if they keep this up. First they stole my third zergling. Then they made her trait about 50% weaker. Now they reduced her Primal Grasp by 50%. And at some point in the past they also made her stun lower duration. I missed that one in the patch notes, but the last time I played her, the stun duration was significantly lower than I remembered.
Wow, they really want us to use the Garden terrors now.... it's been buffed (and forced) a good bit.
And they also want to emphasize the mines in haunted mines. It's a lot smaller now and the merc camps have been cut in almost half and forced to only push the non-golem lane.

I imagine she's a nightmare to balance. I can't think of another hero that's able to consistently do that much burst to 2 or 3 enemy heroes with their normal abilities. She also dies real fast when focused on and has no escape mechanism. Narrowing her grasp cone feels like it was an attempt to lower her ability to hit multiple heroes easily without lowering her single target damage. IMO, it's something they should have tried first before nerfing her shields so much.
Patch is finally coming down now, but there's apparently something going on with the 64-bit client so they're disabling login until whenever the hell their next patch is.

You get gold whether you win or lose for every match.
You get gold if you complete a daily quest.
You get gold at various hero levels (along with unlocking talents and stuff).
You get gold at a couple times for account levels or whatever they're called. I recall getting 2k gold fairly early on for some metareward.
Playing very casually in the alpha (like, single digit games a month), I have two 10k heroes (Abathur and Nova) and Zagara (4k I think?). And I'll have Valla free for buying the Diablo 3 special deal.
I hope the daily quests are eventually like Hearthstone where you can drop one once a day for a different one. I hate being forced to play support because it benefits noone. Two games was bad enough!
Also they should make Hearthstone gold and HoTS gold cross-compatible.
you could try to be a little less transparent here blizz
first artifacts and slower gold, now 15k heroes and again slower gold gain
just make it a retail fucking product
Like, I could understand if they wanted to avoid people just dumping their banked gold on the hero immediately, but considering that they've made no secret that there will be at least one alpha stage wipe, and you won't be credited for gold expenditure(only real money), it's pretty fucking obvious that their intention is to see how many people they can coax into saying "fuck it" and buying him with money.
If you're jealous of people in the Alpha: don't be! Blizzard makes the game actively worse with each fucking patch! Oh, and they do only a few balances changes every two months, because it's an alpha so we should take things slowly?

One of the BIGGEST complaints from the community lately has been gold generation and that it's too slow, and even non-existent for level 40s. This has been being voiced across the Heroes subreddit, the official feedback forums, fucking everywhere. And they just straight up ignore it every time. And when asked about it directly (I think in a PAX interview maybe?) they give some flippant answer about how they want/like that gold gain is slow and they WANT it to have to take a long time to buy a Hero with gold. You could smell the bullshit across the internet.
So yeah they're definitely pushing some sort of angle here. They're trying to coerce people into spending real money. Anyone who thinks Chen is going to be the only 15k Hero is naive and foolish, because Chen is going to set a precedent and they WILL do it again. And I guarantee you that people will complain about it but they won't care and they'll keep doing it.
Hey Blizzard, I am going to drop some goddamn TRUTH BOMBS on you. Ready? Here goes. If you want people to spend real money on your game, MAKE IT AFFORDABLE. Make people want to spend real money on your game because they like you game and they want to, NOT because they feel there is no other alternative. And most importantly, AFFORDABLE. The prices are way too goddamn high to even consider it at the moment.
Yknow, for everything that this game has done right, they go 1 step forward and 2 steps back with bullshit like this and Artifacts and who even knows what else in the future. I love you and your games, Blizzard. Please don't go this direction, because it's extremely unhealthy for everyone.

That instant slime dmg is going to be huge in team fights.
Especially with a 3 second cool-down.

The nerf to gold gain is insane from my reckoning, and I wonder on what PLANET is 'play 8 games' considered a daily.
And a reduction on Gold Per Win is awful. 40g was not enough. And instead of improving it, they made it worse.
I haven't checked recently, so I assume it's still at.. what was it, 4k, 7k, and 10k?
Kind of crazy-expensive, to be honest, but eh.

Depends on the hero. It can range from 2,000 up to 10,000, most of them being somewhere in-between.
And Master Skins are 10k across the board.

Some necessary ones to heroes, some that make me wonder a bit, and some that make me rage with relation to gold.

Valla not even touched. And she is completely broken.
Illidan still not buffed.
And no mention of any sort of mana/power-up for the lack of the "Path of" talents.
And they also want to emphasize the mines in haunted mines. It's a lot smaller now and the merc camps have been cut in almost half and forced to only push the non-golem lane.

I imagine the game forces you into a second one shortly afterward if you managed to collect another 100 before the end of the first one.
Thank you

For those not in alpha, that is 33% higher than the previous highest price.
Haha jesus. That's crazy.
I really hope blizzard nails down the prices to something less insane by the time we make it into beta.
