What's Killing Floor 2?
Its a PC/PS4 co-op game where you and 5 of your best buds (or random strangers) get dropped into an area full of genetically mutated, flesh hungry monsters. Its also super fun!

https://youtu.be/z2K9gfkcqEs

So, its a sequel? Whats new?
Well besides the graphics upgrade,
  • 3 New perks - Gunslinger (Dual pistols) and 2 others still unrevealed
  • A new melee system - Parries, combos, and Mount & Blade style directional swings give a little more options to those who get in close
  • No more grinding out stalker kills or welding points, instead of requirements all perk actions give you XP. Perks go up to level 25
  • Perk traits - Better semi-auto damage or a faster reload? Hp regen or bleed damage? Customize your perks for your own playstyle
  • Character customization - Yes, hats are in.
  • Start with a perk weapon from the first wave, no more pistol rounds
  • Each class has a unique knife and grenade
  • New enemies - Cyst, Slasher, and a new boss besides the Patriarch
  • Enemy AI changes with difficulty
  • A bunch of other small stuff (doors don't come back, lights can be destroyed, blood stays the entire match, guns animated at a crazy high FPS, etc)
Sounds great, where can I play it?
Early access is out now on steam, you can play on public servers or you could (should!) play on the two PA servers provided by resident cool dudes @AuburnTiger, @WIckedkarma and @PMAvers. Connect by using open *ip address* in the game console (Ex: open 173.199.101.166:7777)

The perks
Your perk is your class, its your role in the group, and it determines your best weapons. Choose between two of a perk's traits every 5 levels, but you can switch them whenever you want.
(I'll update this list as more perk traits are revealed and/or added to early access)

I am all over this on release day. May even get a server again, if there's enough demand.

Yeah, this is a day one for me, given how many hours I've sunk into KF1.

I loved OG Killing Floor but it got kinda weird and bloated as time went on. If KF2 gets back to that OG KF feel I'll be all over this shit.

Oh lord yes please. I am excited beyond reason about the gunslinger perk. My favorite build was running Sharpshooter with lots of dual pistols and the lever action. Gunslinger sounds like my jam.

Only if the chunks are small enough.

That's why I play so much Demolitionist.

Get dosh. Kill bitches. The universal rule of KF. And there will be much, much more of that here. Waiting is going to be painful.

One of the many reasons I started to carry pistol heavy loadouts. Depending on taking down critters at range was just not feasible with many team setups. So I adapted. The solution was clearly more dakka.

I just hit things in the face with a sword. It's all I know. Running headlong into smoke made it more atmospheric.

Except for maybe Fleshpounds and Scrakes, which just kind of annoy them, but yeah, burning things does usually make them go away.

Are there any gameplay videos for KF2 yet? I've seen the specimen footage, and it looks great, but I really want to see the new gore system in action.

    • gunwarriorgunwarrior Registered User regular
I've looked around at some of the other websites and found some new info. I'm half tempted to just stop looking at it because the new stuff sounds pretty cool.
      • All perks start with a primary weapon, a unique knife, and a unique grenade.
      • Perk leveling is now handled through an XP bar. Instead of doing X damage and killing stalkers/welding/whatever, both of those actions would give you some XP.
      • Support has a trait that lets them resupply ammo to teammates once per round (thank god).
      • ZED time now turns everything besides blood B&W Madworld/Sin City-style.
      • Cosmetic character customization teased.
      • Possible console release, bumper icons were on the main menu. No confirmation.
      • Fully destructible dynamic lighting and somewhat destructible environments (no examples).

This is the best part. Welding for the support was such a grind.

I never grinded and apparently welded enough normally that I'm like level 4 or 5 support now (it's been awhile so I don't remember exactly)

Yeah I got the same results on Support with just standard gameplay. It was the reqs for levels four to five and five to six for welding where the numbers just got silly. It helped that any welding you did across all perks was counted, whether you played support or not. I think the intention was to get errybody weldin' with their welders. In practice you just had people running the game overnight, welding on a door with a clot or two on the other side.

I am very excited about this, I have a ton of hours in the original Killing Floor. Killing Floor is such a great example of why solid game mechanics are enough to sell a game. A simple idea, executed very well (the gameplay at least, let's ignore the terrible menus and connectivity issues) that is very fun to play. It's so dissatisfying to play a modern shooter and be let down by the gunplay.

The fact that they've supported Killing Floor with maps and weapons and events for 5 years after the game was released, much of it for free, is astounding and shows to me that these guys deserve our money for KF2.
