I find that discussing the concept of privilege with a lot of my white male friends usually results in me hearing about how sad and terrible their lives have been.
But Viv, I grew up in a nice little cottage town in the hills and went to a nice primary school and helped my Dad work on cars and fix the house and we had a bunch of really great pets and I had a nice bike and I got a remote control car and Mum and Dad used to cook pretty great dinners all the time...
Just AWFUL, because I never got that racing go-kart I wanted!

I'm a white male, I have had a pretty shitastic life, like abuse, homelessness, etc, you name it, but the one thing I know, it would have probably be 10 times harder if I wasn't white and male. And that's privilege ( I always want to put a D in privilege)

to be clear this is not a conventional person's problem
this is a me problem
like, I personally may be barred from the US because of reasons, which I'm not going to get into and at this juncture I'd like to discontinue this line of conversation and it's going to be my last post on this subject
I have personally checked into this and gotten conflicting answers on it at different times from different levels of agencies. I have also had contacts of mine who have access to certain tiers of information look into the subject and the answer they have come up with is basically "if they let you into the country, you're not going to get arrested or be in any serious shit, but that's basically going to be their decision and because of how ass backwards they run their borders who knows how that will go down unless you try"
so basically at some point if I ever get around to getting my passport, my wife and I might just plan a day trip to take the clipper to Seattle or something just to test it out and see what happens. If the worst happens and I get told "Sir, you cannot enter" then it's not a big deal and I just have to accept that I don't get to visit the US until whenever, or if nothing happens and I get into the country then everything is fine
but it's not something I'm going to gamble on with say, a PAX trip where I've booked a hotel room and shit and could suddenly find myself unable to get into the country and now I'm fucked out of my trip and a bunch of money
Not pushing for more info, will drop after this post, just mine is also I'm guessing the same kind of unconventional , and for mine I have to look into what's called a Waiver, is separate from a pardon. There are temporary ones, at least in B.C.

i've had some folks i know who can find this stuff look into it and the answer is ???
i'm probably fine but i basically can't know until i try because the TSA is fucking stupid and plays by whatever rules it fucking feels like
