Well some people. Myself included. Might like the prize and enter to win because they see other people doing it. But with pax there is so much going on that at the time near the raffle, you either forget or need to ask yourself if it is that important compared to what line you are waiting in or what you are currently doing. I mean I would not get out of line after waiting 2 hours for a chance to win something. Unfortunately those are the people who win though.
I attended a local convention here in Nova Scotia (small compared to PAX) and I entered myself in for some raffles. I ended up winning quite a bit even though I personally wasn't there to pick up the prizes. I had a friend get them as I only went for 1 day. But she had my tickets and just checked back periodically through the day for the draws, and not necessarily always when the drawing was going on. It would be nice if there was some kind of grace period for collecting winnings.

Thanks for the feedback guys. If they did the same at Pax Prime 2014, I bet it will be the same at Pax East 2015
It was frustrating being squashed, and being constantly yelled at to move but where can you move to? It just seems like such a safety hazzard and Im suprised raffles are not banned or structured in a more safe way.
The lines were sooo long for a lot of the big games last year that we ended up spending a lot of time at raffles instead. It was exciting but getting to a raffle late meant the risk of being told to leave or being yelled at, so showing up earlier and earlier to raffles became a thing, like many other people, to the point some raffle people were there 45 minutes early (*cough* Neweggs *cough*).
Just out of curiosity, how much was the coat check? I feel like it is going to be necessary this year. I did not use it in past years.
I think it was like 3 or 4. I use it every year and its a great service!
just to clarify, i believe it is about $3 PER ITEM you wish to check. totally worth it though, and they really do an excellent job of keeping it organized and running smoothly. i've even had them check awkward cosplay pieces without batting an eye.
Does anyone know if they re-listed cancelled tickets yet, this year?
They aren't this year. Tickets are being listed as they are canceled.
Right, which is what they did last year, but I haven't noticed any canceled tickets listed yet this year, unless they did it early on the 13th.
Some people have already claimed to have gotten 3 day passes a few days ago, so it has definitely been happening.
Thanks. I don't suppose you know when they claimed to have gotten them? I've been watching, but I haven't been able to monitor 24/7.
I have a friend who got a 3-day the night they came out, aka hours after they had sold out. SO it appears that they are literally going back up as cancelled, and not in waves.

Thanks all for answering my questions. I do appreciate it.
It's like they're actively trying to invent new and more horrible ways to distribute the passes. I understand what they're trying to do, but I really don't think they're accomplishing it.
I was explaining to a friend the free to play console and classic console areas at PAX and he asked "can you bring your own games?". I was surprised because I always go to these area and never thought about this, so I am wondering if anyone knew if it was/is possible to bring your own games to the areas? (Tried looking in last years Q&A thread and didnt find anything)

For CFP you can indeed bring your own games, and checkout just a console and controllers. They don't allow downloading of your profile though so keep that in mind.
Is there anyway I can REMOVE one of the panels I submitted for PAX?

Does anyone know if there's plans in motion for the forum challenge coin this year? I've loved the tradition each year but I haven't seen any mention of it yet.

Last year's coin thread started in September and took some time to get finished. PAX East 2014 was in April. Given that it is December and PAX East 2015 is in March, it looks like this may not happen this year. I enjoy the challenge coin.
While I agree that being insensitive is an issue, so is being oversensitive.

I hope it does come through, even if it ends up coming after the show. It'll be weird having a missing year in my collection.
This is my third year going to pax east. Thinking about getting into tabletop gaming. My question is are people wiling to help other learn regardless if they have no experience.

Many people are, yes! In fact there are often tables set up where people try to make it obvious that they're teaching games. Also many vendors have people present who are there specifically to teach games to people.

This is so true, and is actually one of my favorite parts of PAX. I've learned some really fun games from other people and from vendors at every East I've been to.
yes, i've bought a couple of games "thanks" to helpful publishers or just people looking for gaming friends. definitely one of the best parts of the show!

I've found it extremely rare for people at PAX to not want to teach others. The only time I've run into something like that is when a group had their own tournament-style thing set up amongst themselves with the understanding that everyone knows the basics. However, you can almost always find people that are more than willing to teach you. I've been on both the teacher and student end and both are a lot of fun.
I always make time for tabletop. It really can be the best part of the show.

As a first time PAX visitor, is there any sort of FAQ for what kind of things to expect at the show in terms of panels/how the exhibit hall works? I'm really pumped and am getting all curious~

Oh well!
This question is asked every year. If you go back to last years east thread. I think there was a topic on new paxers and tips/things to know.
Yes. And very, very useful.
Thanks!

Suprisingly the coat check isn't that expensive. Though I tend to pack a lightweight jacket I can cram into a small bag while at the con.
