I assume that when they figure out that Goldar's weakness is that he's made of delicious ooey-gooey cheese, that'll be the moment of Bulk's triumphant return to save the day.
I love that that's apparently the final figure. No paint apps or even glitter just a lump of shit that at a glance will suffer from this - http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Gold_Plastic_Syndrome
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

Found one of the new 'megazords' at Target last night. Just...bleh. I hope it looks better in cgi...
This movie definitely needed more actual management of announcements and designs, because the only place we're getting this stuff is from some really crappy quality toys.

Probably should've put the full trailer that shows Zords and a small peek at the Megazord before releasing the toys. But...this this has been just a clusterfuck of mismanagement, it seems...
Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.
These high school students are really blase about the girl riding the HOVERBOARD and I love that
I don't love the acting and it feels like the entirety of the dialogue was ADR, but it's Power Rangers, what are you gonna do
It feels like Power Rangers, which is all I ask.
As for the movie, I get that the designs are huge departures from the series, but I dig that the movie seems to have a clear vision that it's sticking too. Might just be optimistic, but it implies more thought than "nostalgia=money."
In what shitty marketing department did some asshole think "No, we can't put an armored lion/wolf hybrid as the villain, that's too cheesy. But speaking of cheese...."?
Sure do love this generation of movies based on old franchises that think old stuff is lame because it's old (MCU aside).
Anyone reading the BOOM comic-book series? It's current story, involving Billy and Tommy being tossed into another dimension, introduced a couple of 'new' Ranger designs that look pretty neat.
The first is this guy, who goes by the name of Lord Drakkon.
The other are his soldiers, the Mastodon Sentries. According to CBR, Drakkon managed to split the power of the Mastodon Power Coin among a much larger group of people, creating an army of Ranger-powered mooks.
The BOOM comics are pretty good. I wasn't real happy with the direction the main comic was taking for a bit, but they managed to turn it around real good with recent developments.
The Pink spin-off, which features Kimberly after she left the team, is my favorite though.
If there's like a big trade paperback of the BOOM comics I might check them out. That art is good and the story sounds intriguing.
It captures the spirit and feel of the show (or at least what we want the show to be) while setting it in the modern day and actually having good writing and a consistent plot.
Also they seem to be doing character spotlights every 5 issues and so far the two they've done do a lot to give the characters depth.
That trailer is the best showing this movie has mustered so far
Also Rita's staff has the green power coin in it
And her summoning mooks by animating the ground could kind of explain the Goldar design.
If her random mooks are animated dirt, Goldar could be animated gold.
I mean, it doesn't excuse the design, but it could explain it somewhat.

the current arc is... reaaaally pretty dark, but it at least feels fairly natural and not forced
The zords and most of the CGI looks fine for a mid-2000s young adult action-fantasy series done on a modest budget.
The Megazord specifically still looks bad to me and I can never accept it so I chose not to think about it.
I think the way they're portraying Zordon is pretty good.
Alpha seems okay. Changing his posture so he isn't sticking out his little potbelly goes a long way. He still looks like a cybernetic mushroom alien.

Yeah, if this was the mid 2000's, I'd think these would have looked totally on par with Hollywood's fare of taking existing IP's, chewing them up and pooping them out onto film in a big budget action movie. (X-men, Transfomers)
But in 2017 I want more.

I think it looks not good.
But I also think it will make a good amount of money, considering how well those crummy Transformers movies have done.
But I also think it will make a good amount of money, considering how well those crummy Transformers movies have done.
I think it looks good but expect it to tank!
I predict it'll make it's budget back with alright profit but under-performing merch sales which will cause a lot of articles/YouTube videos to call it a total failure and flop because it wasn't a blockbuster.
So I have had this idea that's been kicking around in my had for literal years, that I need to put into writing.
My life's dream would be to right a proper Rider/Ranger's shared universe.
Basically it revolves around the merger of Ranger and Rider origins.
Like, a big theme of Rider's, is that they co-opt alien tech to use against the bad aliens.
While Ranger's are gifted tech from aliens, to fight the bad guys.
So, slapping those two together, Rider's still co-opt tech from the "bad guys", and Sentai/Ranger teams are still granted said powers from said benevolent aliens.
Well, this is the status quo for years, hell, you could even describe the relationship between Rider's and Ranger's friendly. The benevolent aliens tech and influence becomes widespread ala SPD, and everything is aok.
Until one day the Benevolent aliens put forward a request for all Rider's to turn over thier tech to them. Thier rationalization is sound, most Rider's have adapted dangerous alien technology for thier own personal use, and they aren't requesting the to stop being Rider's, just so that they can give thier tech a once over, fix any potentially dangerous flaws(as there has been no shortage of suddenly evil Riders), and hand it back to them.
However, this causes a huge schism in the Rider(And Ranger) community. The benevolent aliens have given no reason to distrust them, however, Rider tech is the only thing that is mostly human modified and controlled. Turning over Rider tech would make the humans completely reliant on the benevolent aliens for defense.
Some Rider's agree, some disagree. Some Ranger teams also disagree, while most agree. However, eventually the request becomes a demand, with the Benevolent Aliens threatening to withdraw Ranger tech from earth if the Rider's don't comply. Which silences the Ranger protest(ie, replaces dissenting members), and draws lines between the Rider's who have already complied and those who had doubts, but now are firmly against.
thanks to twa, I can only see haim saban as the boss alien from space jam, except he keeps stomping around and screaming about how much he hates homosexuals and palestinians

Those pointless wings on the back, The balled fists because hands are hard and weird feet because feet and ankles are hard too . . .
Apparently 14 year old King Riptor is the lead designer on this movie because every robot I drew during that time had these features
I still can't get over there being two different Megazord designs. One for the Combining Figure version, and one for the single figure version.
Makes me wonder if both will be in the movie.

Red - Shoulders - Strength/Leadership
Blue - Feet - Support/Consistency
Yellow - Torso - GUTSGUTSGUTS/Bravery
Black - Joints/Chest - Connection/Camaraderie/Heart
Pink - Head - Wit/Wisdom
...or I might just be putting way more thought into this than the people making the movie are.

Almost certainly the latter.

new trailer
megazord looks awful still
but everything else looks good
I don't have sound at work so I can't comment on zordon or alpha

Only to realize at the last minute that they all have a lot in common and then they team up against the true threat, Haim Saban himself!
You just described the plot of
Also the movie is doing that stupid bullshit movie thing where characters with masks have to take them off immediately. Fuck.
