Everyone buy this game so I have more people to play it with. So good. So very, very good. That moment when you catch a high speed ball is so satisfying.
Steam, seriously. I need you to start accepting amazon payments.
This would be so awesome. Between Bing rewards and my credit card rewards I have about $100 in Amazon credit. I guess I could buy Gamestop cards and use those for Steam cards but :effort:
I saw a werewolf drinkin' a pina colada at Trader Vic's.
And his hair was perfect.
@Cardboard delusions asked me if my new computer was working (it is, and it's amazeballs compared to what I'm used to). He then sent me a key for The Amazing Spider-Man. AWESOME!
But what's the point of the internet if you use StayOffPornSites.exe?
The obvious solution...
Steam just needs to start selling porn.
Well it is getting into the VN market...
MGQ and that's all I'm saying.
I had to google this.
Why? Why did I do that?
Damn you, man. Damn you.
That seems to be everybody's reaction when they first learn of it.
It's actually a very good story, if you can get past the squicky porn bits. All about a young boy named Luka who wants to be a Hero but on the day of his baptism the Goddess refuses to descend. She speaks to him through his dreams though, urging him to still go on the Hero's journey to slay the Monster Lord. His ultimate goal however is for humans and monsters to live in coexistence.
There's so much more to this goal though. He throws himself into battle against monsters stronger than he is because he's subconsciously trying to atone for the sins of his father, who founded an organization dedicated to exterminating all monsters. He comes across as naive and stupid, but for a good part of the first game (there's three total) he's actually a deathseeker heedless of his own safety and he fully understands this. There's twists all throughout the plot, which is incredibly deep and meaty, and the main characters are fantastic with their dialogue and interactions. I initially played the game because my friends like to jokingly have me "review" porn games since I'm asexual but this one seriously hooked me through its story.
There was an April Fool's joke a couple of years ago where j-list announced all of their VNs to be available on Steam. It actually threw me for a second.
Simpler way to nuke everything than VMware: Sandboxie. It nags you for 5 seconds after 30 days, but otherwise is free and you can download every virus you want and then just clear it out after.

So I was sitting here deleting some games to make room for Defiance before tomorrow night when my Steam froze. I immediately started cursing and yelling at my system. Turns out it was @pixelated pixie sending me a copy of Five Nights at Freddy's. Guess I have no excuse this weekend to scare the crap out of myself. Thanks! (?)

So first of all: Spoilers specifically for @The Brayster and really no one else as I'm gonna post screenshots of our game in progress in Commander: The Great War and it would be a crying shame if he learnt about what I had ready for him.
For him there is only this picture of my chat log from another match. Because it's pretty great:
For everyone else I'm now going to gush about how this game makes every plan go from simple to super complex.
The two pictures are going to be of the two major fronts as they currently stand and how differently they're working out. First of all there's the Western front:
Which is going pretty swell for Germany. The Schlieffen Plan was a huge success as the Kaiser's forces routed Belgium and marched on Paris, taking advantage of a slow to rotate France line. However as it stands while France is on the ropes it's not quite over yet. With fresh troops arriving from the UK every month and a trickle of French forces still opposing me there's still a line against my forces holding Paris and thanks to the mess that the Eastern front is I can't spare troops to just steam roll it with my higher production points due to needing forces there.
As it stands my strategy right now is to try and pivot the forces around Dijon to take Orleans before making use of the cavalry to drive north and cut off the French's supply lines from the other cities, without a capital they need access to two cities to stay in full supply, which will give Germany a significant edge and allow them to start breaking through the line in a straight up fight if it works. Most likely instead he'll have to pull units arriving from the UK away from the main line to defend against the ploy. Which will still leave him on the defensive and unable to push.
The significant risk here is that Italy will be entering the war in the next ten turns and would obviously have prime oppurtunity to pocket my own flanking force. To counter this I'm conducting a small build up of forces on Austria-Hungray's side of Italy and plan to march on Venice to force Italian attentions away from France.
Now for the significantly more messy situation:
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Eastern Front. Russia has thrown its weight around and successfully taken Koenigsberg, a significant center of production off of my hands as well as forcing German forces onto the back foot. The current plan here is significantly more desperate. Acting mostly as a time buying mechanism in order to allow for a more traditional infantry build up and push back.
I'm going to give cavalry it's last military hurrah. Making use of their fast speeds and adaquate combat values my plan is to force cavalry units past the wide gaps in the Russian's front line and start wreaking havoc towards his home front. Taking cities from small garrisons left behind the main Russian forces and then using those bases of supply to safely move and cut off his own lines as well as harrassing more fragile units such as fighter planes and artillery.
The upside to this is that arguably it's reasonably low risk. Three or four cavalry units might cost as much as three or four infantry units but now that Austria Hungray is done mopping up Serbia I can safely divert that production until the Italian front opens. While I'll likely lose a good chunk of these units they should have strong effect. Both in actually taking cities (which will lower his production temporarily) but in also forcing reinforcements that should be headed for Danzig or defending Koenigsburg to sit by cities that ultimately don't mean much in order to deal with my distraction.
I'm fairly confident in this plan unless I discover a decent pocket of forces I wasn't expecting. Especially as with in five turns a good bulk of the AH forces from Serbia will be at the front and ready to help cut a line north from Brest-Litovsk once the snow leaves for the winter.
Thanks so much to @Lindsey Lohan for this! My evening took a sharp turn for the crappy about two hours ago, so I really can't tell you how much I appreciate a dose of class from you to get me back on the right track. Thanks very much!
(Now to go see what all the stomping and crying about is upstairs... )
Looks like @Lindsay Lohan has decided there are entirely too many miners in the world and is implementing a miner cull or something
Thank you very much. I'm really hoping that enough of us have this that we can get some impromptu miner murdering going on.
COMPUTER BUILD UPDATE: I've got everything except the SSD hooked up and running. I managed to boot from a Linux Live USB and it looks like everything is working properly. The funny things are that I have been without a desktop for so long that I wasn't sure I even had a keyboard anywhere in my house. Fortunately, I managed to find an old one that still has a PS/2 connector. And fortunately this motherboard still has a PS/2 connection (though there is only 1 for either a mouse or a keyboard). While I wait for my SSD, I realized I have an old hard drive that I am now going to try to install SteamOS on for shits and giggles. We will have to see how this goes.

I tried to play some Murder Miners but there were no public games open
In other (tangentially related) news, as part of that Amazon sale, Transformers: War for Cybertron is $4.99 and is some of the most fun multiplayer I've ever played so I am going to buy it on PC now and hope there's people I can play with

For those interested, I will be continuing my stream of Magical Diary in about 10-15 minutes (link in my signature). Tonight's goal is to save up enough money to buy a tiara. This is some deep, emotional gameplay right here.
If lots of people grab Transformers off the Amazon sale, we can do that as a weekend game. I seem to recall it only got put low on the consideration list because not too many people have it/them, since they so rarely go on a good sale.
Further to the earlier security convo, something I forgot to mention I use is WOT. Available for practically any browser you'd care to use. It's brilliant and I wouldn't be without it now.
